I had these boots for over a year before they had seen heavy wear in the snowy streets of Chicago. After about 10 hours of wear the rubber began cracking and it is continuing to get worse. I have been in contact with customer service several times. They even admit there is a known problem with the rubber quality yet they want me to send the boots to Oregon and be without boots in Chicago. Not something I would have contemplated until today when my left boot took on a lot of water. These boots are already unusable in water conditions and my be completely unusable by the end of the season. If I knew when I made my purchase what I know now I would have gone with a different brand.
I'd also recommend:
Another brand for sure.

Have always had high regards for Sorel boots...until now. I started out loving these boots, but after only a year and a half the rubber has begun cracking at the flex points. Certainly not the same boots I grew up with that seemed to last a lifetime!

Bitterly disappointed. This is my 2nd pair of Sorel boots and I will NEVER buy Sorel again. If you are looking for light use boots for snow shoveling, grocery store trips, snowmobiling or use that doesn't require much walking this is you boot but if you want an every day, on the farm, live in them 9 hours a day don't buy this boot. The rubber has cracked on both boots from walking and now lets the wet in. The liners wear made with such a small opening it was almost impossible to get your foot in without cutting into the felt and I have a size 7, narrow foot. This boot is in it's second winter which equates to about 6 months of solid wear in it's lifetime. From Sorel I expected more but would hazard a guess that these boots are made overseas and do not have the same qualities that Sorel was originally known for. My first pair of Sorel Caribou boots lasted 9 winters and only the tread wore out. I would suggest Sorel look into the quality of it's production before they lose another customer due to poor workmanship.

I have had a pair of Sorel boots for 12 years and at Christmas I bought a new pair of Women's Caribou boots - They do not protect your feet at all in cold weather - something is very wrong with this version and I am horrified that for the price I am stuck with boots that are a SERIOUS DANGER TO MY TOES! The upper section is cozy but the foot part is useless - where the stitching is,above the toe area, you actually feel the chill penetrating - Really disappointing as they look great but my toes tell another story - and I had woollen socks on! I had to come back and put on my old Merrils - Not a happy customer at all.

I oredered these shoes after reading all of the good reviews on this brand. I never had this brand of shoes before. When I recieved them, they were great. They looked great and kept my feet warm in the cold. However, when it came time for the true test in the snow, these boots LEAKED. I wore them in the snow of 4-5 inches and within minutes water started seeping through and my feet wet. Do not get for these shoes if you intend to keep your feet dry and warm in the snow. Maybe in the cold yea, but not the snow. Wish i didn't spent the $140 on these shoes and went with another brand.

Please read the one-star reviews. Many people are having the same problem with the rubber cracking on the sides of the toes at the bend points. My boots only lasted 2 years when I encountered the same problem. There is obviously a problem with the material. These are not $40 Kmart boots. It's ridiculous to pay $160 for something that only lasts 2 years.

Really disappointed, couldn't get my foot in past the top tight elastic... sending them back. Why did you make the top area so darn tight with no expansion possible?

Can't believe these are receiving 5 stars. I give them 1 star, and that's being charitable. They weigh a ton. Impractical for anything but a short walk. But the worst thing about them is the boot liner. I got the worst rash of my life on my lower leg from the recycled material used in the liner. The first time it happened I thought it was a fluke, but the next time I wore them it was even worse. Thank goodness Zappos has such extraordinary customer service. I called almost a year after buying these, and Dominique, the customer service representative I spoke to, could not have been more helpful. She arranged for me to return the boots free of charge, then price matched a pair of Keen boots I saw on another site, so I got a straight exchange for no additional charge. It's that kind of customer-focused experience that gives Zappos its deserved reputation. They have earned my trust and admiration, and I will gladly tell this story to many of my friends. Well done, Zappos!

Had these boots 40 years ago and was excited to find them again! A classic that won’t disappoint in cold, snowy conditions! No bad weather, just bad clothing choices! These are perfect!

I usually am wearing a size 11 (blundstones), but had to downsize to a 10 in Sorrel, and they're still plenty roomy. SO easy to slip on and off in winter snow and muddy slush and plenty warm in the Northern New Mexico mountains. I think it's funny that even though they're considered, or used to be, the standard winter boot, everbody complements them literally ever time I wear them. A great boot that is warm, comfortable, stylish, and long lasting. If they fit right and feel good, you just can't go wrong with these.

I love the quality, warmth and functionality of this boot. I appreciate the room in the toe box for when you wear thicker socks.

These are tried and true boots and still appear to live up to their legacy. Warm and comfortable. I have been wearing size 10.5-11 in most other shoes, but I had to downsize to 10 on these, Zappos was easy and accomadating with the return and shipping was fast. I'll stick to Zappos for my shoe needs.

My dad had a pair of these when we lived in Iowa, Northwest, Schaller, Iowa. We live 3 miles outside of town. Dad had a couple snowmobile's. And this was what he wore on his feet when he was outside on a snowmobile. And so did I because I had same size feet even though I was 9-10.

Just wanted to share my dad's story- he's 92 and we just ordered new liners for his Caribous. I asked how many liners he's been through because I remember these boots from when I lived at home. He got to thinking and figured out he got his boots in 1978! He said cold feet made a hunting trip miserable so he stretched his budget to get Caribous and "fell deeply in love" with them (his words). He lived in Illinois and Wisconsin for years with them and still wears them in Nebraska. The uppers and rubber are in great condition and he's still deeply in love. I thought if any product deserves a rave review this is it!

Boots are great I would order a half size down. The only criticism I could give is I wish the tongue of the boot had some fur or protection on it. Other than that, they work great for the winter
