I was super excited about these boots when I ordered them. They arrived quickly - just in time for a trip to Tahoe and guaranteed snowbanks worthy of the boots.
I was surprised at just how big and bulky they are. I thought they would be a bit but these are so big, I originally thought they had sent me the men's size 8. I can see why they were once used as snowboarding boots. In fact that is just about how big the outside is.
Meanwhile the liner is small. Perfect fit to my foot, keeping it warm and cozy. However, it doesn't come off easily. Everytime I take the boot off the liner stays on my foot like a sock and I have to peel it off and rebuild the boot for easy-on application when I use them later. I struggled in the entrance hall to do this without getting my feet wet. I am wondering if Sorel has alternate liners.
The boot was dry when shoveling and playi{review cut off}

i will say i LOVE my Sorels. I have owned a pair of caribous since 1996- i have replaced 2 liners and i finally had to get a new pair only because the tread is gone. i ordered my usual size 6 and got the new boots and i could barely put my foot in the boot. i was very disappointed. after reading some of the reviews i later took the liner out and put my foot in the boot - they were the correct size- of course big without the liner. then i tried on the liner alone and it was so hard to get my foot into it. then i went to look at my old boots and liners and discovered that the "stretchy neoprene-like" fabric in the front of the new liners was about half the size of the old liners. i am very disappointed in this. but i want to use the sorels so i think i will cut the front of the liners and maybe get a piece of elastic to sew across the opening. sort of like the 1964 PAC liner.

I love these boots and they are amazing for the snow, however they are way to big. I have always been a size 7, and these feel more like an 8/8.5. My mother who wears an 8.5 fits in to them and says they are just a little tight. I kept them because I really needed snow boots but I would highly suggest you try them on before you buy them to make sure the size fits you!

I would definately say that half sizes would benefit the average person on this one. Once you get your foot in there and add a wool sock, the regular size (in my case anyways) was too small and the next one up was too big.
It's a disappointment.

We rarely purchase footwear online because of sizing. These boots were purchased for our college aged daughter. Before we ordered them, we went to one of our local stores that handles Sorel to try on another style boot for the appropriate size. We thought they would be comparable. However, when she tried on the Caribous, they were huge. We now have to figure out how to return them for a smaller size. So much for trying to plan ahead.

Loved the look, ruggedenss, and warmth of the boot -- especially in the gray/black combo. However the leather upper on the left boot pinched me above the ankle, could not find the right fit (7 too small and 8 too big), and no arch support (could have dealt with the latter if there weren't the former
two issues.

I purchased these while my friend purchased them in the nylon version in the same size. These were much wider and less flattering. Very warm but very wide, could easily be a men's boot.

I used your fit guide and rather than sizing down I ordered exact size as I like to wear heavy socks. My foot measurement was 11 so based on your guide I should have ordered 10.5. I ordered 11 and really wished I had ordered a 11.5. The 11 works with athletic socks but now way would they fit with heavy socks. I have yet to wear them as our winter is really mild.

Ordered online, received boots promptly. Sorel advises sizing down since boots are cut large. I stayed with my normal boot size and the Sorel's were tight. I could only wear them with light socks, and they were tight across the top of the arch. Returned - which was fairly easy - and ordered a half size larger. Couldn't just exchange them. Had to return one and order the second size. Replacements showed up and fit worse. Felt liner is much thinner than it used to be, and on the boots I got the felt wouldn't even meet at the top of my arch or my ankle. That means in cold only my sock and the leather tongue protect my foot from the outside temp's. Arch of boot was also tight where the tongue is sewn in. Can't comment on durability. Poor fitting on two pair indicate a quality control problem. If you're going to buy these, go into a store and try them on first. When I called to return the second pair Sorel said there was a return fee. Customer service did agree to waive the fee when I talked with them some more about why I was returning the boots. Pity. I used to lover Sorel's.

Rather cheaply made. The soles are deadly on any hard pack snowy or slick surface. Baffin boots are a far better choice.

Boots are narrow around the toes, clunky and not feminine at all. Look like men's boots. Returned.

I'm surprised by the general consensus that these boots are true to size. Also surprised that the website instructs you to order your normal size. If you click on sizing it says to size down if you're inbetween sizes, which i would not consider the case for me. I wear 12 or 13s. I got these in 12s and they are too big. Other than the size the boots seem great. 2 stars for bad sizing and bad sizing instructions on the site.

The shoe is extremely bulky and heavy and not true to size. I ordered my size and it was felt like a whole size too big.

They are very big I would order a size and half from your normal shoe's. Definitely not as comfortable as the old pair I use to have. Lots of reviews say the rubber cracks with in a year. I believe it now that I have been wearing them. Probably won't buy ever again.

I bought these boots and as soon as I tried them on I knew there was no way I could walk comfortably in them. They are heavy and clunky. It felt like I was walking around in clown shoes filled with bricks. They seem to be made well and seem like they'd be able to withstand tough winters, but I couldn't see myself wearing these in public without being embarrassed of how huge they are.

I love Sorel boots and I should have listened to my gut and returned or exchanged these right away. They are so masculine and look oversized on my feet. I am a size 9 1/2. The insert falls out of both boots every single time I take them off which is really annoying. For the price, not worth it. Wish I picked a different pair. The quality of material seems good though.

I wish I could keep these boots, but I just can't do it. I literally am walking around looking like I have clown shoes on. I've gotten 8.5 on a variety of different sorels in the past but these are as if my feet got extra wide and extra long. That being said, they are SO WARM AND SO COZY but as an everyday boot, even another size, I feel like I'd be tripping on my own feet.

Cool look....so so performance.
Tried to like them, but....
Achilles heel: felt liner. It soaks up the moisture, then if left in the boot - it stays moist.
End result: practically constant feel that your foot is enveloped by chill. Plus the unpleasant smell of moist felt. This was quite pronounced, when in the line of work I would spend few hours indoors.
Solution: removing the liner everyday to dry, which I rarely did as taking it out and sliding it back in was a pain.
Summing up: won't buy them again. Felt seems to be an ancient form of insulation. There's foootwear out there with variety of modern insulation. Today - I'll take any of them at the cost of not looking cool.

Don't get me wrong, these are excellent snow boots.
BUT.
They are warm to the point that I overheat and sweat, even in the Minnesota winter.
They fit the length of my foot just fine, but there is a ton of room in the foot area. With each step my foot lifts from the bottom of the boot to the top and the boots slide up and down my legs.
They are heavy such that I move slower than normal, and my legs hurt from having to lug around so much weight on my feet. I have to practically run to keep up with people.

These boots are warm and good for walking in unshoveled snow in terms of grips, BUT they add what feels like 5-8 lbs PER SHOE making walking anywhere a slow process. These boots are 2.5-3 times the width of my feet so I often end up hitting/kicking the shoes together when walking, which makes walking around in them that much more difficult. I honestly wish I returned them and got lighter/more manageable boots for walking around the city in the winter.
I also have to wear very thick socks so I'm sliding around on the insides of the shoes. They run quite big in sizes.

I recently just bought these boots for myself. I typically wear a size 9.5-10 in normal everyday shoes (mainly Nike) so I thought I would also order these boots in a 9.5, since it's ratings were "True to size". Needless to say, these boots are not true to size. I tried them on once they arrived and they were at least whole size bigger. I was kind of bummed out because the next day it snowed and I wanted to wear these boots but I couldn't since I was returning these for a 8.5 size. The boot itself was great and a boot that will live up to its word but just too small. Now, patiently waiting for my new size boots to arrive!!

I am so disappointed with these boots. They protect against cold weather and snow, but they are way too big and way too bulky. I hate wearing them because it feels like my feet are going to slide right out of them. I would have exchanged them if I knew return was within 60 days. They are huge and very uncomfortable.

I had these boots for two winter seasons and cracks developed in the rubber causing it to open up. For price, these boots should last longer. While they lasted they were great, just expected more than two winter seasons of wear out of them.

I used to be a tremendous fan of Sorel, particularly the formerly tried and true Caribou. All through the 80s and 90s these were fantastic. But now, the rubber they use is garbage. It cracks in the first 6 weeks! I've gone through two pair in two seasons. The soles aren't even warn, but the sides have pulled away from the Uppers and the flex points (where your toes hit your foot, where they bend in each step) simply crack open! Terrible.
The uppers are still great, the design is great, the self cleaning soles work beautifully, the liners are fine, but the Rubber is horrid. Surly they still know what their original recipe for rubber was... why not go back to that? How simple would that be? But for what ever reason, they are allowing their flag ship boot to become worthless.
Buy something else.
