I live in northern NH, and we get quite a bit of snow and low temps for the winter. I got these mostly because they are: waterproof, warm, grippy on ice, high quality that will last years.
I did read other reviews that says it runs large. It does. I'm normally a size 9, and I was swimming in a 9, but I was too afraid to go a full size down, so I did a 8.5, which works fine. It fits cozy when I wear wool socks, and just a little roomy with regular cotton socks (which is good for creating and trapping hot air in so that's fine too). I took these for a 3 mile hike one day and they were super comfy, I didn't slip on the ice once, and my feet were the warmest thing on my body. It was awesome.
I also see some people complaining that they are heavy. DUH. The heavy soles keep your feet on the ground and help prevent slipping on the ice. They are built like that on purpose. But really, they aren't that bad. Once you wear them a few times, your legs will get used to it. No big deal.
Highly recommend these!

My mom has had her Caribous for over 20 years. Decided to invest in my own. Don't mistake a clunky boot that is wide for a shoe that runs large. I am a true 10. Ordered a 9.5 since they were out of 10s. They fit fine. I would order same size or 1/2 size down maximum unless you have small, petite feet. Mine are pretty normal. I don't think they are too wide but, I need to break them in. They are a waterproof boot for super cold temperatures. They look cute but are a larger structured boot. Get this boot if you want it to do some work! For those saying it's too clunky must not have super cold and snowy winters because I need this boot to survive winter!

I LOVE THESE BOOTS. TOOK SOME GETTING USED TO THE SIZE AND GRANDEUR BUT AS SOON AS I WORE THEM OUTSIDE IN THE MUD AND SNOW I REALIZED THE INCREDIBLE VALUE!! FEET STAY DRY AND WARM! THERE IS A LITTLE ROOM IN THE TOE SO MY FEET ARE NOT TOUCHING THE FRONT IN AN 8.5. LOVE THEM!

This boot is definitely the top of the line boot for anybody interested in a solid, warm and rugged boot. As far as sizing, I ordered a half a size smaller and was glad I didn't order a full size smaller. It is a heavy duty boot for a reason as you would generally wear heavier socks if you are putting on these things!

These boots are bulky but it should be expected as they are for extreme weather conditions. They will definitely protect your feet from heavy rain and snow. They are also very comfortable and can make a fashion statement if worn correctly. I love them !

As I am writing this review, I will say that to it is a balmy 7 degrees in upstate NY today and I have been trekking around in these boots without socks and my feet have been more than warm!
There's a lot of ice outside right now and I haven't landed on my rear yet so I give these boots and A++ for traction!
I will say though, this is a true SNOW boot, it is not for the faint of heart so if you're looking for something cute and light weight, go with something else because you're going to be getting a leg work out from these babies. That being said, I would not be opposed to rocking these babies at my job(I work at a mall) because they're still fashionable even if they are a little clunky.
They are exactly what I have been looking for in a snow boot and more! Not sure if I needed to but I did put some protective spray on the leather for the days when the snow is up to my knees. Seems to be working great thus far!
I am normally a 7.5 but I went with a 7 and if anything they still feel a little big so I would definitely recommend going down a full size!
Stay warm out there guys!

I live in Idaho and our winters can get pretty cold and the snow deep. This boot kept my foot dry and warm and gripped the terrain only had a few slide outs! I do recommend though maybe going into a store and trying the boot on first just to make sure you have your sizing down. I usually wear a size 7.5 to an 8 and a 7 in this boot fit my foot perfectly with enough room for a thick sock if need be. The boots are a little heavy but I feel like that comes with the territory considering it is a boot for heavy snow. These boots do pack out with time so keep that in mind! Highly recommend!

Received these boots in the mail when the Midwest was experiencing very cold weather in the month of November this year. Don't plan on having to double up on socks, because it is certainly unnecessary as my feet were comfortably warm at all times. They were a bit heavy, but I expected this for a good winter boot. And no chance of slipping as they have serious traction. Love them! Would highly recommend to other potential buyers.

I purchased these boots for my husband. We own a second home upstate NY where we have a small farm. On week ends my husband tends to the live stock. He wore one pair of socks and his feet dry and warm. He loves them. He actually was surprised, I wasn't because I purchased a pair for myself last year. They do run large so purchase one size smaller.

Its easy to have brand loyalty when the quality has been there for years. Purchased my first pair of pack boots in 1976. Just recently retired them. My wife has had a pair of Caribous for a long time and would never think of bracing a cold, snowy Colorado day without them. Just purchased two more pair for my daughters for Christmas. These boots will last for years, no matter how rough the user treats them. The secret to these boots is the replaceable felt/wool lining. We always purchase an extra pair of liners. If the liner gets wet you still have a dry pair to put in the boot while the wet ones dry. Brilliant!

This is an amazing boot, but it runs big. All of my shoes and boots are a size 8 and my feet swam in the size 8. I would recommend buying a size smaller.

I purchased these boots based upon the previous reviews. Last year I went hunting for the first time and my feet were freezing. This year, in 0 degree weather, my feet were toasty warm throughout the entire day outside. They have plenty of room for bulky wool socks and have great traction on ice. Although they are a larger boot they are easy to walk in and very comfortable!

I work outside all day in this coldest MN winter and these are hands down the warmest and most comfortable boots I have ever worn. I got a size bigger only cause I climb and do a lot during work. It's not clunky and did I mention very stylish? Last boot I'll need

I live at about 9,000 ft above sea level and sometimes the temperatures get down to the negatives this boot is heavy duty and kept me very snug and warm. They are a bit big to walk around in but for those days when you need the coverage they do the job. Totally worth the money. My toes were so cold before.

Still the best Winter boots out there after all these years. I live in Mn--cold winter is the norm-- 20-, 40- I have been wearing Sorels for 40 years-- the new model Sorels are as good as the older ones, and those I wore for decades--Very grateful this co. came back with their boots.
Can't go wrong with them. I buy a size larger than my shoe-- room for two pair of socks- one light, one heavy wool-- warm as can be on the coldest days.

I attend a school that was ranked the 4th coldest campus in the nation, and these boots do a great job at keeping my feet warm! The only issue that I've come across so far is that they are slightly large, I wear a size 12, but I could have ordered a size 11.5. The slightly larger size might be nice for thick socks and/or shoe inserts, so it might not be so bad after all!

I purchased the Buff set circa 1990 and used them for work and pleasure. My set has the Vibram sole and made in Canada. The soles are moderately worn and the rubber base material is beginning to crack in a few areas. I also purchased two extra sets of liners (a must) to permit everyday usage. The liners take longer to dry out than just the unlined boot. I still use them today, but I have had to place some rubberized sealant at the tiny cracks to maintain the waterproof capability.

I wasn't expecting the boots to be as big as they are- they're pretty large and a little heavy but I absolutely love them (I'm also a size 12, so they're bigger than the picture).
While these do run ever so slightly on the big side, that's a good thing. They fit well on my feet whether I'm wearing regular socks/hidey socks for flats on my way to work if I'm trekking around and wearing big thick wool socks.
These are intense weather boots that are great for getting to work, walking the dog, or sledding up north in Michigan weather.

I recently bought these boots for what is looking like to be a rather snow heavy winter for Idaho. They are incredibly comfortable, much more so than my last pair of boots. My feet stay dry and warm, even after tromping through snow all day. I have yet to try them on pure ice (no snow covering), but I doubt that they would let me down if I was being careful. I thought the boot fit true to size, and that is with me wearing wool socks. (Note: I like my boots to be snug, but not tight) In any case, I recommend these boots to anyone who wants to keep their feet dry and warm all day long and not have to worry about any nasty spills.

Since I live in Wisconsin I've already had a few chances to try these boots out and so far I've been impressed. The quality is top notch and they are very warm. The thick felt liners are really nice. I'm thinking of getting a pair for my wife, too. They might be a bit on the heavy side for some, but I find clunking around in a big ol' pair of Sorel's very satisfying.
Regarding size: I usually wear a 8.5 so I got an 8 in these boots and I find that they fit well with a little bit of extra room for thick socks.

My family loves their sorel boots. I've had good boots from fleet farm for construction but my caribou boots are very warm and extremely comfortable. I do snow shoveling and out reaches for several hours in the mn cold and never had a problem yet with cold feet. PTL for these boots.
