So I bought the Sorel Caribou snow boots after reviewing all of the reviews, positive and negative. I've read reviews where they said these are heavy. Yes, a little heavier than an UGG boot. However, I took about two hours reviewing The North Face, Columbia Sportswear, UGG, LL Bean, Eddie Bauer, no name brands, and other lightweight Sorel winter boots. Seems there was at least 1-5 reviews in all of the above snow boots that suggested water seeped in for some. That's 1 too many. I would rather have a little heavier of a boot with a secure waterproof sole than have water seep in to freeze my toes, or have a thin rubber sole that cracks. I did not notice driving being a problem, nor did my foot press on both gas and brakes at the same time. So, yes a tad heavier than some, but not like cinder blocks. I feel these will handle walking in any ice or snow without my feet being cold, water seeping in or rubber cracking. This particular boot said it can run a little large; I wear a 6.5 so ordered a 6.5 and it was perfect for me. I put on a thick sock on and it fit amazing without being snug. So take your chances on wet toes or cracked rubber soles on other lighter weight snow boots, but my vote is for feeling absolutely safe without a shadow of a doubt that these will work in rain, snow and ice.

Absolutely amazing! Warm and comfy. They are not the everyday girly shoes that people expect, they are made for outdoor activities. Therefore if you are looking for a boot that is not "big" you might have to look at other styles. I would recommend these 100%. Best boot I've ever owned.

They are so comfortable. Really comfortable. And I'm likening the tread design, grips well but doesn't hold the snow. Excellent! Well done Sorel.

So far, so good! These are definitely more heavy as other reviews have stated, but they are also waterproof and extremely warm. Look forward to wearing these for many winters to come!

Love these boots. They keep my feet warm and are waterproof. Perfect for NYC snowstorms we've been having. Just a little heavy, so keep that in mind. But overall love it.

I typically wear a 10.5-11, I ordered these in an 11 and they fit great! I bought these a few weeks ago and they came just in time for the bitter temperatures in the midwest. I am a teacher and use these for work. I am outside in sometimes 0*F (not counting wind chill) weather, for up to 30 minutes, twice a day. It was actively snowing, or freezing rain twice and my feet have stayed cozy dry. These had great traction while I was helping little kids get into their cars, and I wasn't afraid to step in puddles or the snow drifts that pile up on the side of the curb. There is a minute where they don't grip as well on tile while they are still wet, but they very quickly dry. They are comfy enough to wear all day. I also like that the laces are not too difficult. I have owned snow boots where I have to fully loosen the laces to put my feet in. With these, I can fit my foot in comfortably without unlacing, and tighten them up quickly.

These boots are extremely warm and provide excellent water protection. I use mine walking around an island in the St. Lawerence River, which includes using them to snowshoe. They are good on ice and snow. I went down a half size which was the right decision. They are cumbersome but that is a small price to pay for the warmth, durability and functionality provided.

Seriously top notch for the price point and maybe even one above it. I live in an ice prone part of the country and these things even have grip when the ground is slippery. Check these out if you're into the design and structure.

Never have I ever thought I would need a pair of Sorel winter boots living in the Deep South. However, life just happens, and here I am, in middle of Wisconsin experiencing negative Fahrenheit temperature. I didn't know that was possible, but it was, apparently. I got this pair right before winter storm came in Wisconsin, so I got to experience how great these are against cold/snow/wet ground. Pros: - Really, really warm. I went outside to go grab some food/groceries, and my feet were warm. It was funny experience because I couldn't feel my thighs but I could feel my feet/toes. - Is very waterproof. I like walking in the snow. Didn't have much chance to see snow in regular basis, so I had lots of fun with it this winter. When I came back inside, only my feet stayed dry. - Basically does its job. It's waterproof winter boots. It is waterproof and for winter weather. Design/size: -I usually wear size 8 for tennis shoes. I have high and wide instep, so even though I didn't plan on wearing thick socks, I got 8.5. They fit nicely. Not too tight where I need to put bandaids on my heel but not too big where I trip over my feet either. Very comfy as well. Walked miles wearing these and my feet weren't in pain. But I advise going with your normal foot size, though. Unless you have high/wide instep like me or wear THICK socks. - They are... cute. Very cute. Got lots of compliments from my friends and my mom. Keep in mind that my mom is very direct with her opinions. When she says they are cute, they are cute.

I purchased these for my friend for Christmas. She had another pair that were probably 25 years old and were a little sad! I did my homework reading customer comments as far as a recommended size and she LOVES them!

I bought these boots in 1990 for snowboarding. Back then you removed the liner and put ski boot liners in, the you ducked taped the ankles! 30 years later my 13 yo son, my 17 yo daughter and myself are all fighting over who gets to wear them as we are currently all the same shoe size. I'm here to buy another pair as these boots last a lifetime.

Just bought this boot and am so happy I made the splurge to finally get a pair of Sorel boots. They are warm and roomy and comfortable! I agree they are a bit large/clunky, but you have to remember this is a SNOW boot. My mother has Sorels from the 70's that she still wears and swears by. I needed a boot that is durable and reliable for Midwest winters and this is exactly what I got. The caribou boot is a classic.

These boots fit like a glove the very 1st time I'm put them on. I went ice fishing the day after I received them. No shin discomfort at all and they were true to sizing. My feet were toasty all day long. I'm ordering my wife a pair right now!

I am experiencing my very first winter in Chicago and knew I needed a good snow boot for playing and traveling in the snow. These boots provide excellent warmth in very thick snow. I tested them out in at least a foot of fresh snow and not only did they keep my feet warm, but they also kept the snow out! Some of the roads have started to get icy and I will say that these do not provide the best traction for icy conditions, but they still get the job done. If you don't think you will be walking during icy conditions then I think these boots will be good for you. I normally wear a size 5.5 but after reading reviews, I ordered a size 5 and they fit perfectly!!! I'm so glad I listened to the reviews. My feet are on the narrow side so I didn't find the width uncomfortable. I didn't find these boots to be too heavy like some other reviewers described. I go on daily walks around the neighborhood and my feet and legs feel just fine afterwards.

I was adamant that I didn't need a new pair of boots like my partner told me. Heck, I was wrong. These things are amazing boots that I found out are the same as my dad got...35 years ago and he still wears them! I'm excited to follow in his boot-steps. They are warm, comfortable, and I can tell well made. I even toss them on barefoot to take the dog outside quick and they do not chafe or provide any discomfort.

I recently started snowshoeing and needed a shorter boot. These are perfect - both with the height and they keep my feet so warm. I live in Minneapolis and took these boots with me to northern Minnesota in January. Even in frigid cold, my feet never even felt a chill.
