If you want to eat trails for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, storm up mountains, and place your name into the annals of the history of ultra running, buy this shoe. Actually, buy a pair. This shoe is trail ninja and black-clad, light, and hyper efficient. I got more than 500 miles out of my last pair and am eagerly awaiting a letter from the Smithsonian for their entry as the most excellent trail running shoe of all time.

This is a great shoe. I have worn this shoe before and still like the way it feels when I run. I would purchase it again.

They're absolutely great for the mix of trail/snow/pavement/city/park running I'm doing. Comfortable, grippy, warm with thick socks. And I do like the way they look.

Excellent shoe! Extremely light weight and comfortable. I trail run in these shoes and they beat other trail runners hands down. They are not warm at all though, so if you run in the winter, suggest getting the gore-tex version.

I bought my first pair of the Speedcross 2's when I began training for special ops in the Air Force. I knew that I would be running a lot and wanted something very light weight that I could lift, do a lot of calisthenics in and just be able to keep up with all the crossfit that I would be doing. Knowing that I need quite the arch support, I was a little skeptical, but Zappos has their free back and forth shipping so I knew that it was just going to take a little changing of sizes or swap of a shoe before I get the fit that I want. Well right from the box came the most favorite running/everything shoe that I could ever imagined. I ran miles on the beach with these things, I ran miles on trails (nothing too pebble-y, since they're so soft you can literally feel everything divot on the ground and blade of grass), I did everything in these things. Well, the time came to enter the military and lo and behold -- My Cadre all wore these shoes! They instructed me (as they did oh so often) to find another pair of shoes since they had dubbed these "instructor shoes." I did a lot of bear crawls and pushups till they realized I wasn't going to give up my Salomons so easily. Eventually the time came for my shoes to pass on (they were beat to hell/no tread left at all). So, I bought another pair of Speedcross 2's and I still run miles, but it's with my team now. Thanks Salomon, I own quite a few different pairs of Salomons, and you seriously make the world's greatest shoe. If anyone has any doubt, buy a pair and wear 'em on your carpet. If you're unsatisfied, send 'em back...you won't though.

Took a few days to work in, but after that great running shoes. I run on treadmills and trails, so I give these little guys a 5 all the way across the board.

I've been actively using these shoes since June, mostly for running. I have to say they look very cool and are indeed very lightweight. The lacing system works flawlessly. Nice cushioning! Now as far as their primary purpose goes, they are not durable. If you look at the bottom of the shoe, it has soft spikes that the manufacturer claims will not erase. Wrong! I am an over-pronator, used them for running on the roads and track, around 150 miles total; 3 months after the sole on both outside heels is completely gone! While it's a great overall running shoe, it was outlasted by my 6 month old Adidas.

Good shoes. Look good, feel good. Excellent lacing system. The soles wore out for me in about 3 months of medium/heavy use. They were squeaky for a bit. A little Gold Bond powder under the insoles stopped the squeaks.

I love these shoes. The rubber on the bottom is super sticky. No slipping on wet pavement or on mud!

At first I thought I would need a larger size but the fit is perfect after a few minutes. It's better for walking with the snug fit. I am pleased.

Very good shoes for running off road, very light and resistant. To be used for trail running only.

Great shoes for trail/hike - I run trails or hike up longer trails. These shoes are like feather on your feet. May not recommend it for casual use, but if you're heading out for a day or two, this is all you'll need.

Bought 2 Pairs - After trying numerous styles and brands, I bought a second pair. These shoes might be the most comfortable pair of shoes I've owned to date. They accommodate an orthotic, a must for me. Perform very well on trails and on the job (concrete floors) for long periods of time. Have held-up quite well 1 year into owning them. Quite satisfied.

Finally, a great trail shoe - I felt like I could run twice as far during my first run with these shoes. They are great for pronation support, traction control (on dirt/mud), and extremely light for a trail shoe. The external build of the shoe protects your feet from smashing against rocks or logs. Be extra careful if you run over rocks and logs on your runs!

Favorite shoe - This shoe is great. It feels phenomenal and is easy to get on and off. I thought the bottom tread would wear off real fast, but so far I haven’t seen even the slightest of problems. Great buy for the money. Worth it!

Too good to be true - The best trail shoe out there! Extremely light too. My last pair of shoes was Salomon’s so I knew this would be a good product. I had high expectations and was still impressed when I received them.

Outstanding shoes - These are the most comfortable shoes I have had on my feet in a long long time...I'm thinking of stocking up on them.

Nice! The traction of these shoes is exceptional. Besides from me finding them a little narrow, they're exactly what I needed. Also, they're quite warm - I agree with the other post that you wouldn't want to wear them much above 50. I went for a (brief) outing in them this week in Chicago, -1 actual temp and they were fine!

Awesome shoe! I have a wide foot and was concerned about this being a good fit. But it was perfect. Surprisingly warm in 20 degree weather. I absolutely love these shoes.

Sweet - I love the style and traction of these shoes. Most other shoes I have purchased in the past had to hard a rubber sole to produce exceptional grip but these shoes get it done.

BEST TRAIL RUNNING SHOE EVER - Let me start by stating that I'm 48 and have been seriously trail running since I was 11. This shoe is amazing. It is light, responsive and fits like a glove. The lacing system is fantastic and infinitely adjustable. The removable footbed is remarkable. The soul of the shoe comes up the side of the shoe all the way around and therefore protects against the elements. Traction as rock solid. This shoe is very responsive yet forgiving. Meaning, that while running on rough terrain there is a tendency to role an ankle yet due to the responsiveness of the shoe, I found myself being able to react faster and therefore not rolling an ankle. This shoe is not inexpensive; however given its performance and workmanship it is easily justified. You really get what you pay for. Bravo Salomon. This is the type of shoe that I will buy two to three pair of because it’s well worth its money and I fear that in a couple of years it may not be on the market.

Virtually Flawless Winter Shoe - I have been wearing Salomon trainers to work for years as they are the most comfortable shoe I have tried when on my feet for 12+ hours/day. These are the lightest and most supportive of the lineup (and I have tried them all!). Perhaps the only critique is that they are not as warm as some of their gore-tex brothers and sisters, but the cut down on the extra weight more than makes up for it! The grip of the sole is amazing on frozen ground and sheet ice! I was amazed...you will be to.

Salomon Speedcross 2 Review - Probably the best Salomon's I've ever had. I noticed a review on them in Outside the magazine, couldn't find them anywhere in town. Great fit, look, and performance!

Whoa! Tremendous support in a feather light shoe with traction that just won't quit. Has the appearance of a race car driving shoe. I love it!
