This is a beautiful well-made boot. I really appreciate the craftsmanship, and I love this style. My only complaint is that Frye boots, in general, don't accommodate wider feet. I normally wear a size 9.5, so that is what I ordered. Width-wise, my foot is slightly cramped in this boot, but lengthwise the boot is too spacious. I know that I can't fit into a size 9, so I'm left with a boot that is longer than I accustomed to (and with size 9.5 feet, extra length is not something desirable).

I've always wanted a pair of Frye boots. I purchased these because they seemed more versatile than tall ones and still looked nice. The leather of the sides is crushable and looks great BUT I don't understand why they sewed a big square WHITE Frye logo into the top edge of the boot which can be seen easily. What a distraction! Also, I wear a size 8 and these were my size but too big. And so am continuing my search for the perfect Frye boot (made in America, not Mexico or China). Thanks, Zappos!

Runs a size large. With their extra beefy lug sole, they are stiff right out of the box. I didn't get squared away with the right size until winter was just about over so, I couldn't get enough wear-time to break them in properly. The sole is a bit chunkier than I'm used to but I'm patiently waiting until next winter to put them to the test. the shearling is not as thick as I expected either - I hope they will be warm enough. The pebble grained leather is very nice.

I've been breaking these in for a few months. I still have to wear a band-aid on both ankles as the leather is so stiff that it chafes. After wearing them for the day, I need to give my ankle a rest before working them again. They do look great with skinny jeans!

I tried two pair of these...I am generally an 8, I was swimming in them. Sent back for a 7.5...better but still MAJOR heel slippage...do I send back again and get a 7?? Disappointing, because I really wanted to love these. Listen to the reviews that say they are HUGE....they are....

This is my 2nd pair of Frye boots and this pair was a full size too small compared with the previous pair of boots. I usually wear a 8.5 but couldn't get my foot in this pair of boots.

I am not sure about these boots, I have only tried them on once and i'm debating on sending them back. The toe is more pointed than the photo shows and they are really shiny/waxy looking. Still a great boot, just not sure they are for me.

These are great boots that just didn't fit my foot properly and I never have trouble with shoes.

Very tricky sizing on these! This has been beyond frustrating. The 8 in these boots was so large there was no way I could keep them. Half a size down feels like my foot is in a vice. There is no winning for me with this style - which is a total bummer. I was so hoping these would be perfect and this back and forth of boots would end. Sadly, I'm still on the hunt.

I bought my first pair of Frye boots about a month ago and love them. I needed a pair of black boots and I prefer the distressed look so I bought these in the black burnished. I'm really disappointed...the boot looks like two different boots. The foot portion is matte black with no distress markings and the leg portion is the distressed look. The leather isn't buttery soft like the pair I previously purchased and they aren't comfortable so I'm returning. The one great consistent quality is all the Frye boots I've tried on run narrow which works for my narrow feet.

hese are gorgeous boots but do run large. I normally wear an 8 or 8.5. The 8 was too big. I ordered 8 and 8.5 to try on. The leather is beautiful and the Dark Brown Vintage Leather color is so soft. There is only a slight arch support. Otherwise the seem a bit hard bottomed for the price.

I saw another review warning of styles made in MX. These are in fact made in Mexico and the quality of the leather doesn't seem worthy of the high price tag. The style is really cute. I ordered a half size up - 8.5 - and the left boot felt like and 8.5 and the right felt like an 8 or smaller. You could visually see the difference in the widths. Sending back and will try something else.

I rated these as running small, but that seems to apply only to certain colors/leathers. I order the Slate Burnished Antique in 8 and 8.5 and the Grey Soft Vintage in 8. The burnished antique definitely ran a half size smaller than the Grey Soft Vintage. The Slate Burnished Antique was also made from a coarser, rougher leather -- at least that's how it feels on the inside. Neither pair of the Slate Burnished Antique had as much of the whitish cast as shown in the picture. Rather they are a lovely taupe with a slightly worn, aged look, almost looks like nubuck texture. Really cute and great color, if you're looking for a lighter softer shade. But this color is rough on the inside (I do wish Frye would line more of their boots), enough so that they would shred tights and probably rub blisters on my blister prone feet. And this color also has a seam down the middle of the heel cup that the "soft vintage" leather does not have. The combination of off sizing, rough texture inside, and a seam in a weird spot means they are not as comfortable as I'd like. Major heel slippage that drags my socks down into a wad, too. For comparison, the Gray Soft Vintage is a softer leather inside and out and no seam at the heel cup. Both color/leather options are similar lovely taupe shades, but the Gray Soft Vintage is a more refined, smoother leather. It ran bigger also -- more typical of Frye sizing -- with the size 8 in the soft vintage fitting like the 8.5 in the burnished antique. I do wish the Gray Soft Vintage had the same black sole, as the light tan sole sort of cheapens it. Love this style, just not sure I've found the perfect boot yet. At this price, I want to love them. Wishing Frye paid a little more attention to quality consistency and detail. Nice smooth inner linings on all their boots, not just a few styles, would be nice. But if these work for you, they are super cute. Love the height, the slightly scrunchy, drapey top, and the slightly motorcycle styling. Love that they come in taupe-y options -- and so many colors, for that matter. Still weighing the pros and cons to decide whether to keep a pair.

Really cute boots but I found that the size 9 (my normal size) were snug in the toe box yet slipped in my heel. I unfortunately am returning them.

I really wanted to like these boots because they look so great, but they were not comfortable. I am a standard size 6 in most shoes, including the two pairs of Frye boots that I already own. The 6 in these was so tight on the top of my foot that my toes went numb after only 10 minutes of wear. I tried a 6½, but that pair was oddly loose in the heel and still made my toes go numb. I liked the style so much that I tried another 6½ and that pair actually fit better in the toe box, but was quite sloppy elsewhere and made a really loud swooshing sound when I walked. I returned them for a pair of Frye Engineer boots, which are much more comfortable.

Beautiful boot! Love it dearly, however returning it because it is way too small. I wear a size 8 in Frye, normally wear an 8.5-9 in other brands, but this style fits small. I have narrow feet, low arch and unusually small ankles too.

The color was not like it looked in the online representation. It is simply dirty looking, not cognac looking. It runs narrow too.

These are beautiful boots, and I'm very sad to return them. I am a 7.5 in Nike's but an 8 in most heels and boots, and got these boots in a 7.5. They lifted up in the heel but were very tight around the toes and the calf was way too wide even with jeans tucked in. I got the Lindsay plate in an 8 instead and am hoping for better luck!

These are cute boots but the interior is not finished as nicely as the others. It us raw leather with no lining. I would have kept the boots if they were lined.

The reviews said these ran small. I don't agree. First I tried he 8.5. They were way too big. I ordered the 8 which was fine in the length but way too big in the heel. The leather on the size 8 was not as. Nice as the first pair. Both are going back unfortunately.

I love the look of these boots but they were just not comfortable. I ordered my regular size and they "fit" but were very tight in the toe area. I know that leather stretches and they need to break in but I didn't want to be uncomfortable while they broke in or risk them never fitting. For that price I want to be able to enjoy my boots right away! also I wanted to wear them for the winter but the bottoms are completely smooth, no treads or traction. I was afraid of slipping in the snow.

These were my first try with Frye boots and I was disappointed. Maybe I got a faulty pair, but the leather on the shaft of the boot was wrinkled and seemed like it had been damaged...maybe this was an attempt at the "distressed" look, but I found it unappealing. The leather was not smooth as it appears to be in the pictures. For the price, I really had to love them to keep them and I just didn't. I found them to be true to size and very comfortable. The foot bed has a nice amount of padding and I could tell that they would become even more comfortable over time. I have slightly narrow feet and these fit rather snug, so they may not be a good choice for gals with a wide foot.
