I have a rather narrow foot, and these shoes really don't seem to fit it well. It's the right size -- the toe is where it's supposed to be and all that -- but they still feel tight here and there. I thought they just needed to be broken in, but it's been weeks now. I'm disappointed because I've had many Rockport shoes before and I've always been happy with them.

Looks good. A solid day in day out shoe. Not as formal as I would have liked. The shoe is breaking in well and is very comfortable.

Having heard about the legendary comfort of Rockport shoes, I've been somewhat disappointed by these. I have wider feet, particularly my toes, but the wide size still feels cramped in the toe box. The back of the shoe also seems to come up fairly high, rubbing my Achilles, although that is a personal fit issue. Somewhat disappointed in the leather stiffness. It is far from soft and flexible -- on the contrary it is fairly stiff and thick. I hope the trade off is durability. Styling is fine. It's a plain style, but that's what I wanted and that's what I got.

Pros: These shoes look great. Cons: They squeak on a lot of wood floors. Also, they were painful for the first few days because they applied a pressure on the top of my feet. Now they're pretty comfortable.

You won't be taken seriously walking around in these. My foot is 10.75 inches long, 4 inches wide, and an 8.25 inch heel to ball (using the pencil trace method). I think I should wear a size 11 (because my foot is 10.75) and wide (not because my foot is 4 inches wide, but because my heel to ball is 8.25 inches). I ordered an 11 Wide. Turn out it's about half a size too big (I have 1.5 thumb widths between the top of my toe and the top of the shoe). However it was the widest shoe between Bostonian Centaur, Cole Haan Air Jarvis Plain Oxford, Johnston & Murphy Harding Panel Lace, Rockport Bvallee, and Bostonian Riverdale. The leather is waterproof and looks fake. You won't be taken seriously walking around in a pair of these. Also the leather bends in a weird way when I walk and it comes down so pointed on the top of my foot that it hurts. Lastly there is this little ball in the insole of the heel that feels weird. I won't be ordering a different size unless they use some real leather.
I'd also recommend:

Tried to go to a more stylish look with the Ellingwood. The Northfields were my shoe of choice, but they don't look as good as the Ellingwood. That was a mistake. Wore them once and they already look 4 months old. They are a nice dress shoe, but if you work on anything other than carpet and walk a lot a work, i would stick to the Northfield. Still nothing comes close to Rockports...

The shoe does not fit as well as I had hoped. While the 4E front of the shoe fits well, there appears to be too much room in the heel area and I have a sloppiness with the shoe going up and down at the heel. Tightening the laces helps; however, you tend to cut off the circulation to your foot. The shoes are not manufactured in the United States and you wonder where they get their statistics for proportioning the shoe. The shoe is also very plain in styling. Had there been something more in line with a traditional oxford, I would have chosen it over this style.

Not up to Rockport standards - I have been sold on the Rockport brand for years, but this pair is kinda cheap looking. I dress in black shoes every day for work, so a dressy look is important for me, these are a bit more casual; they are branded as a waterproof shoe, I was not aware of this when I ordered them. They will be good on the rainy days!

Rockport Ellingwood - Narrow Width - I wear an 11B and normally have trouble finding shoes that don't feel too wide. But these actually felt narrower than B and too tight when I first tried them on. And, possibly because of the cap toe, they don't flex very well and require some break in. I'm just starting to get them broken in, so don't know how the long term comfort or wear are going to be yet. This is the last of several different Rockport models I tried - had to send all but these back because of sizing that was way off from how they were marked and described. Very disappointed in Rockport quality control these days.

These shoes never really broke in like they should and my husbands feet ache wearing them. Definitely will not order again.

I love Rockports because their shoes have so much internal padding. I bought this pair because it looked near identical to their standard $100 pairs, but there is almost no padding on the inside. Uncomfortable! It's my fault though. That's what I get for having faith in a $55 pair. I returned these for a standard pair.

Have worn them twice now, and feet are sore at the end of the day. Width is not correct. Maybe after they break in they'll be better? Also color did not meet expectations. Much more brown than red.

These shoes fell apart. The toe cap separated from the upper. Cheap construction turned me off to rockport brand.

I ordered this shoe because I've been using the same model and size for over 5 years (I've bought 4 or so pairs of it over that time). This time I didn't bother to try it on to test it, just opened put it on and went on a long day-trip. The shoe was much smaller than the previous versions I have received (much narrower) and my little toes were in pain by mid-morning and blistered by the end of the day. I can't return it since I did use it for a full day, but I'm super unhappy about the size not being consistent with my previous pairs.

These shoes looked GREAT, but my husband found that they were very uncomfortable. The "tongue" cut into the top of his foot.

Shoes are very light and comfortable - until you walk in them. Right where they bend as you walk, on both feet, was very painful. Read some reviews about breaking them in, but don't want to take the chance. Too bad as shoes look great and love the fact that they're waterproof.

Comfortable shoe, looks good, but don't ever scuff them. They are leather coated with a thin rubbery film. Once you scuff them the rubber starts peeling away to reveal a suede like leather that does not polish.

The service was great, of couse, but I will be returning these Rockports because they are very uncomfortable - the tops of the shoes are painful to the tops of my feet! That is not a reflection on Zappos, of course!
I'd also recommend:
Other styles of Rockports are extremely comfortable--not sure why this model is so different.

I purchase Rockport shoes often. Very disappointed in theses shoes. This is the size I have ordered in the past. This shoe felt much smaller in size than marked and was very poorly constructed as compared to other Rockport shoes I have purchased.

They appear to be vinyl, not leather, and they are falling apart after one year. They are cracking in the bend lines which should not happen with leather.

These shoes take an eternity to break in. In fact, I wore it a month straight and it still hasn't broken in completely. It's the most painful pair of dress shoes I've ever worn. It's a shame, because I really like the style of the shoes, but I'll have to return them.

This is the second pair I have purchased. I had no complaints with the first pair. But the second was another matter. There is no arch support that I can detect. At the end of the day, that makes my feet sore and tired. Then the left shoe does not flex properly and the result is that it pinches an area behind the top of my left toe. At first, it's not such a big deal. By mid-day, it starts to hurt. So between the poor fit and pinching material I may have to rethink buying another pair. Too bad. I actually liked them and waited to get a pair.

This was my most disappointing Zappos/Rockport purchase ever. The Ellingwood looks great -- sleek and neat -- but as for comfort, forget about it! Pinch points and blisters is what you'll get. My guess is the problem is two-fold: the sizing is likely mis-marked (EE is a slim D) and the waterproof "leather" is stiff and unforgiving.
