These shoes are awesome! Very comfortable, great support. They even help reduce the pain I have while I work out, from a foot problem I have. Highly recommend these shoes!

These shoes are the best fitting walking shoes I've ever had. I have narrow feet and need good arch support, and these were great on both counts. I tried Saucony shoes as well, but they weren't as comfortable.

I love this shoe. I have hallux rigidus in both of my big toes and these shoes make walking and/or jogging a painless breeze. Thank you Zappos for finding me pain-free exercise and for carrying these in a narrow width!

Recently purchased new balance WR817 for flat footed person. I love them. I have a hard time finding comfortable shoes and these really work for me. Now when I'm at my Zumba class my feet no longer cramp up. Thank you for a great fitting shoe.

Hi, I'm back - the girl from Boston. I kept the 8 1/2 WR817 but returned the WR1123. Needless to say, what this all boils down to, is what works for your foot. New Balances do run differently according to styles. Be patient and find if you need a larger or smaller size; do you need to wear thicker socks etc. Zappos is a great place - I call it now my Foot Support Group! I don't feel so alone with my flat, pronating, orthotic needing feet. Just to add, podiatrists I've seen, will quickly suggest "surgery"; shoes can fix a problem and shame on them for being so ignorant or not educated enough.

Just got these sneakers in the mail. Ordered an 8D (had the right fit with 8D in NB model 927). This size was too small. Just ordered 8 1/2 D and hope it fits. I have flat feet, pronation, arthritis and wear orthotics. I like these because they are not as "orthopedic" looking as the 927. And I like to make a fashion statement! Good luck! My advice: If not sure, order BOTH sizes.

This is my second pair of these same shoes. They are great for my extremely flat feet! I use them for running and have no problems with my feet, knees, or back.

Great shoe! I picked these shoes for training for a 5K after reading lots of reviews of different brands/styles of shoes. I am a larger girl so I need a shoe with good cushioning and support. I also have short, wide feet with almost flat arches. These shoes fit great right out of the box, walked 3 miles immediately out of the box with no breaking in and they were wonderful. Also, kudos to Zappos. I ordered these shoes at 9:30pm on a Tuesday night and had them in my hands by noon the next day; Zappos upgraded my shipping for free and shipped them at 3am to get them to me next day. I don't think I'll ever buy shoes anywhere else again.

This is the second pair of these that I've had. i use them almost exclusively for a daily 3-5 mile walk and the first pair lasted more than a year before requiring replacement! I love them.

Great shoe for overpronators! It's kind of clunky looking, so there's no fashion statement here. But if a person is looking for stability, this is it. The shoe is pretty roomy with its wide toe box, but I always order a half size up anyway to accomodate custom orthotics in addition to the liner that comes with the shoe. I prefer that my shoes be too long rather than too short.

I tried this shoe as my other New Balance had been discontinued. New Balance, with pronation correction, has cured my knees from pain while walking. I started with the New Balance 587 shoe 25 years ago. This 817 pair offers good support and of course is a model with pronation correction. I read reviews that indicated the size ran small and ordered them 1/2 size larger. I would not feel that necessary upon reorder. Initially, my foot slid a little, so I would stick to my usual size. I would recommend this shoe especially to anyone with a pronation problem.

This is the first time I bought a New Balance running shoe and am very happy that I did. I am an over pronator and the shoe has provided great support and motion control. I'll definitely buy these again.

These shoes are very comfortable and I like the way they look. My doctor had this style on his list of recommended shoes for people with problem feet. I think they are great.

These shoes are quickly becoming an all-time favorite. I have a lot of foot issues and any time I can put on a pair of shoes and comfortably wear them right out of the box, well, then they are a winner! I recommend these shoes without reservation.

It has been a long time since I have a found a shoe that feels this great. Have been surprised by the number of compliments that I have gotten about them. Excellent decision!
