These motion control sneakers are great! I pronate because I am flat-footed and I also have bunions on both feet and these sneakers in a wide solve the problem for me. They are not the prettiest sneakers I've seen but for problem feet they allow me to walk/job in comfort. They are true to size as well. I ordered wrong first time and Zappos was great with the return. They shipped me the new one right away and I had them in 1 day without billing me for the second pair. Customer Service second to none!

Great Shoe - Wonderfully comfortable with lots of room in the toe box. I have bunions and these shoes give great support and no pressure on the bunions.

Good for flat feet. I always go with New Balance because their sizes are usually pretty consistent and they make great motion control shoes. This pair seemed a half size small though. I usually wear an 8.5 narrow, and had to send them back for a 9. They're great for people with flat feet that roll inwards, it's practically impossible for your foot to roll. The laces are a little annoying at first. They are made not to slip, but they loosen up a little with use and are easier to tighten.

I have very flat feet and I was really disappointed that NB discontinued the 1122. I do not like the fit of the NB 1123 at all. However, these shoes, the NB 817, are excellent! If you need to wear orthotics and/or pronate, this is the shoe for you!

Just what I needed! I started working at an Inn in a very old house. I LOVE my earth shoes but the unleveled floor and constant reaching up was doing a job on my back so I decided to revert back to NB. What a difference! My feet don't swell by the end of the day and reaching and "balancing" are equal to doing these tasks on a cloud. I bought these specifically for work but it looks like I may have to buy a pair for "play"!

Stability last works - I have chronic pain in one of my hips due to an injury. I recently bought a New Balance shoe (W767) that happened to have a stability last and to my surprise, found that its ability to keep my feet and ankles straight alleviated some of my hip pain. So I looked for another New Balance shoe with a stability last that I could use specifically for gardening and ordered WR817. Very good support, sturdy construction, and roomy toe box.

I have a narrow heel and very high arches so I overpronate. I saw a specialist who wanted to sell me major expensive arch supports and shoes. She told me the same things that I was able to figure out from your descriptions of foot problems. I ordered a half size larger as that is what all suggested. No more arch pain and no heel blisters. I’s telling all about Zappos!!! Great service. I returned two pair before finding these.

New Balance 817 soft and comfortable - These shoes definitely run short! I ordered the same size as the other New Balance I wear (926, 767, 768) but these feel a half size smaller than those. I recommend ordering one full size up from your regular street shoe. For a motion control shoe these are surprisingly light weight. I'm happy with that! The upper mesh area is amazingly soft and my toes can wiggle freely. Also happy with that! I wear a wide width only because I have a Morton’s neuroma on my left foot and these shoes fit nicely, not too loose in the heel or midfoot. Overall they're wonderfully soft and comfortable. They're not stiff and don't feel like clodhoppers.

Great support! I've been wearing NB for over ten years to accommodate a pronounced bunion and my wide (2E) pronating feet, which required orthotics. Now I have Posterior Tibal Dysfunction and new orthotics that are more than 2" high at my left arch. (If I had worn my NB shoes ALL of the time, perhaps I could have avoided this?!) Of all the NB models I've tried, this shoe has provided me with greatest support and motion control. The mesh also makes them cool and comfortable.

New Balance always works for me. I normally wore the NB 816, however, it was recently discontinued. I'm a "heavy" runner, that is, I'm a large framed woman who runs 12-20 miles per week. These shoes provide the same stability and comfort that the 816 provided. I think that they look really big and clunky, but I love the support and feel so much that it doesn't really matter to me. I only wear them for running, not fashion. I also buy my running shoes a whole size larger than my regular shoes.

Best Shoes for pronators - These shoes are great for power walking. I bought them to replace my old New Balance Walking shoes. They will definitely keep your foot from rolling side to side. The only downside is, they are not good to use on any type of cardio machines at the gym as they keep your feet in the same position and do not allow for much flexibility.
I'd also recommend:
any New Balance Shoes, they are the best for wide feet

Huge improvement over my 807s - I literally just put on these shoes with my orthotics inserted so I could walk inside my house (too snowy & cold for outdoor test drive). I love these shoes!!! My feet aren't turning in like they did in my 807s and my orthotics don't squeak anymore! It's like these shoes were made exactly for my feet. I would recommend these to anyone with overpronation. TI felt the decrease in the amount of pressure taken off my knees from my overpronation immediately with the first steps. I give this pair a thumbs up all the way around! I love these shoes! I buy my workout shoes a size larger than street shoes, so this size 7 fits true to my foot same as my other NB shoes.

Wonderful Shoes - These shoes just arrived and I am so excited. I have a miserable time finding shoes that don’t bother the arthritis I have in the joints on my third and fourth toes on my right foot – but now I have discovered the New Balance WR817 style. The cushioning, ROLLBAR and roomy toe box make the shoe so comfortable that I forget I even have arthritis! I also own New Balance WX854 which also has the ROLLBAR and also is a SL2 last. It must be this style of shoe that makes my feet feel so good! The toe box is roomy and the shoes fit well in the heel and sides. I also tend to turn my feet (and lose my balance) when I exercise. These seem to have the same type of stability as my WX854. I can’t wait to try them in my aerobics class. The bumpy shoelaces are kind of strange, but kind of fun, too. I also like the subdued colors of the shoes. I imagine the shoes weigh more than other shoes because of the ROLLBAR. It would be nice if they could somehow weigh less. Usually when I get a wide width, the heel is too wide -- not so on these shoes! The heels fit snugly. These shoes definitely run ½ a size smaller. I ordered my regular size and ½ a larger and will return the smaller size. Zappos is the greatest. (There are a lot of neat articles on the web for anyone who wants learn how Zappos got started! Just Google Zappos.)

Great shoe for overpronators - I did extensive research to find a workout shoe for my wide feet, moderate overpronation (arches falling in!), and crazy toes that are too long and end up with black toenails from bad fit. These New Balance shoes have a generous toe box and excellent arch support. There's also unusually great support/cushioning between toes and ball of the foot. Order a half size larger than your normal size.

Good for Stability - The shoe felt a tad small, but my orthotics fit fine, so I'm not too worried. Motion control is great and I would recommend this to any overpronator.

NEW BALANCE---MY SAVIOR - Since retiring ten years ago, I developed pronation problems in both feet. I started buying New Balance-pronation-friendly-supportive shoes. I have been able to continue exercise walks without pain. After discovering ZAPPOS, these shoes are more affordable and available!!!

Great shoe!!! I have extremely flat feet and I am overweight. This shoe supports me and is comfortable right out of the box! It does run about a 1/2 size smaller however. I would recommend it to anyone with problems of overpronation. Very supportive.

Comfy not-heavy running shoes - I have pronation & flat feet, & these shoes feel good for the little bit that I run. They seem to have good cushioning. They might run slightly 'short' because I found that my toes touched the very end of the shoe in my normal size, but the width was fine. I went with a 1/2 size up and they still fit OK. It's not very clear from the photo that the greyish stripes are slightly pearlescent and bluish, which was a happy surprise - they were cuter than I thought they would be. The bumpy laces are a little annoying, but not so much that I've bothered to replace them.
