Great Hiking Boot - These boots are great for hiking on light trails and rocky trails. Great ankle support, warmth and comfort. A little stiff at first so break them in before a long hike.

Asolo Flame GTX - This is my 5th or 6th pair of Asolo boots, I am very happy with these as I have been with all of their boots.

Great support for Achilles injury recovery - Asolo Flame GTX - I am recovering from an Achilles tendon rupture (tear) and surgery. I have been living with an Aircast for about 3 months. The cast completely immobilizes the foot and tendon. As a result all the muscles from the knee down atrophy - especially the calf muscle. I started transitioning around the house into my Columbia Trail Meister with the very soft Omni-Grip soles. However, my current Columbia trail shoes don't offer any arch or ankle support. I was looking for a midweight three season hiking boot for a transition shoe; to support my Achilles injury. I still need good ankle support and overall support of my fore foot. I narrowed my choices to the Columbia Frontier Peak GTX and the Asolo Flame GTX (Men’s size 9 in narrow width). The Columbia Frontier was much stiffer and narrower than my Columbia Trail Meister. Unfortunately, both shoes ran a bit smaller. My own mistake. I know you want to have your hiking boots snug. Both boots seem true to fit. I shipped both shoes back and went with the Asolo Flame GTX. After a couple of days walking around the house and the yard, they are beginning to break in. The temperatures are still in the 90s around Great Falls, Virginia, but my hot feet are NOT sweating. So, these GoreTex hiking boots really breathe. I also tested how waterproof they are with a garden hose. The boots stayed nice and dry. So far, so good. It’s hard to compare the Columbia Frontier Peak GTX to the Asolo Flame GTX. The Asolo fit, material and construction are superior. By far the best hiking shoes I have owned. These boots feel and look very technical. Meticulous construction. Lastly, this was my first experience shopping with Zappos. I was very impressed with the overnight shipping (just as advertised), FREE shipping both ways and customer support staff. I originally placed my order around 8 p.m. EST and my boots arrived around 10 a.m. the next morning. WOW! Furthermore, no hassle sending both boots back for a larger size. Awesome! You guys really get the Internet model. Cannot be any easier. You guys are in the same league as eBay and Amazon. I am surprised I have not heard about you guys sooner. I should write a business school case study on Zappos.

Great Boot - I purchased this boot because I had a broken foot and I was looking for a boot with good support. The active heel support system is wonderful. It cups the heel and the boot all around has provided sure footing. I also hike, although I have some time before I will be allowed to do so again. I have spent time in a downpour in this boot; my feet remained dry after about 30 minutes of sheeting rain.

Great Boots, holy moly fast shipping! First off, Zappos rules with their overnight shipping. Most places say overnight and the package will arrive 3 days later in remote ole Telluride, CO. I ordered the boots at 9:30 pm and they were on my doorstep at 1pm the next day! The boots are great; I love the stiffness and support. The placement of the upper lace loops really seals em up tight around your foot. I have done 4 hikes with them and taken them through streams, mud, scree etc. and have been very impressed with the durability of the boot. After hiking a long downhill I got a small blister on my R. Big toe but it’s no biggie, just breaking them in to match my feet. Custom insoles are the next step. I have normal width feet and would not recommend these boots for any narrow footed person (unless you get the narrow size). All-round great boot, Zappos had the best price and by far the best shipping I have ever seen from the web.

Ordered these to replace a pair of Prism GTXs that I bought on clearance locally that were just a little too small. When I put these on they felt like my feet snapped in place - the fit was so perfect. I wear these to work where we constantly have water splashing around and on the floor. My feet are always nice and dry, and the wet traction is decent. The only bad thing is the laces - or perhaps the eyelets; they have small burrs on them that chew the laces up. I have had these for a month and the laces have broken already; same with my previous pair as well as a pair of Asolo Distance shoes. But Asolo has sent me replacements free of charge and once I get the eyelets smoothed down (sandpaper) they are fine. The insoles are the best I have seen in any shoe, although I have replaced them with Superfeet.

This is a great boot, I am wearing my second pair and would buy a third when these wear out the first pair lasted me close to 2 years before I gave in and bought another pair. The soles are a little slippery at first, but after the oily packaging is worn off they are great. The shoe laces are much longer than needed. I also have a higher arch and added some Spenco 3/4 arch supports.

This boot appears well made, is light weight and has good arch support. However, I ordered a 10.5 EE, size I normally wear, and they are too narrow. They are tight on the sides just behind my toes, and painfully hard against the ankle bone. Also the D-loops are very small and will only accommodate round laces which in my experience, don't stay tied as well as flat. The hooks at the top are also very tight and seem they would wear down the laces quickly.

This was my first ZAPPOS purchase. I received the shoes within 2 days and will definitely buy from ZAPPOS again and again! I love Geox shoes and have bought them in Hong Kong for years - they always run a size small. I usually wear a 7, but in Geox, I wear an 8. If I wear socks with a GEOX, I wear a 9! True, the elastic strap on this shoe is too tight. I used a shoe stretcher to loosen them and now they feel fine. They look great and I have not taken them off since I bought them. You cannot go wrong with GEOX and ZAPPOS!

Nice shoe as most Asolos are. I haven't been able to take this on a backpacking trip yet, but wearing them on the sidewalks of NYC has worn them in a bit and I find them to be quite comfortable. The orange "flames" are a little brighter than they appear in the stock photos.

Flame on! Not like it matters, but the styling on this boot is pretty cool. While the yellow & orange (Grey/Aranthracite style) won't lighten your load on the trail, they may help draw attention to your stylish footgear… which may attract you to trail bunnies! All in all this is a good light hiking/short-haul backpacking boot. The rubber toe patch is worth the purchase just because no one else offers this anymore. They fit well out of the box and have good ankle & arch support. I'm a little worried about the grommets across the instep. They have a swivel feature that seems like it could break off if you bashed your foot into a rock really hard. The padding at the very top is on the thin side, so socks with padded uppers may be a good combo. The size was slightly larger than the Raichle boots I've been used to wearing. I would say it’s only a 1/4 size difference. Nothing the right socks can't address.

FLAME GTX - I typically wear a "B" width, so the stock "D" width seems a tad too wide. Likewise with the length. The 11.5 is too short and the 12 is a tad too long. However, overall this is a very nice shoe. I previously had the FSN shoe in the same size and have worn the lugs off the soles. The local outdoor stores did not carry the Flame GTX, but did carry the Fugitive GTX, but only in one color and did not have any 12's in stock. Zappos has a good selection all the way around and to "boot" have a very nice shipping policy. Keep up the good work.

Fit was generally good, although I ordered a half size larger and the wide (I sometimes get a wide - here I absolutely needed it). There was a hard spot on the fold/edge of each tongue (along the fold that connects to the side of the boot) that, when folded, hit me exactly on the ankle bone of each ankle - fairly painful, even with socks. Obviously, a non-starter. Other than that, I liked them. Other than that, on the stiff and narrow side, but nice.

Bought these to replace a pair of 3 year old Merrell Sawtooths, as the Merrell's are beginning to fall apart. As you might or might not know Asolo's are very popular with operators currently serving in Iraq and Afghanistan, and are highly regarded. They have been combat tested and proven. With that in my mind I decided to give them a literal run for there money. Due to me being a size 9.5 in Merrell's (I am a size 10 in everything else). I ordered these in 9.5 and they were too small, I printed out the return label and shipped them back to Zappos for free and immediately ordered a size 10 on Friday afternoon with next day shipping. The boots were at my door by Monday (Zappos' policy is next day air ordered on Friday will be delivered by Tuesday). Excellent customer service by Zappos! As I said before I bought these boots to replace an old pair of Merrells that I used for tactical training and hiking. I work as a Police Officer locally and participate in much tactical training with lots of weight and gear coupled with sandy, rocky terrain and require some good footwear that can stand up to the abuse for quite some time. The boots are true to size, as the size 10 fit perfectly and comfortably, the Gore-Tex keeps my feet breathing and waterproof. I tested them first on a good trail run with extremely steep hills coupled with rocky terrain, and I found them to be very supportive and flexible enough for good running despite the uneven rocky terrain. The boot braked well on descents and kept me balanced as well as my ankles protected on runs on diagonal terrain. Next was a trip to the gun range for some tactical drills combining similar terrain with my duty gear and kit consisting of 60 lbs of gear including: Colt LE6920 Carbine, Glock 35, Surefire Flashlight, Baton, Tactical Vest, radio, two pistol mags, Wilson Combat Model 2 fighter knife, and four 30 round carbine mags on a drop leg pouch. The boots with all the weight coupled with the harsh terrain performed extremely well. The old Merells offered nowhere near as much support as the Asolo Flame. To sum it up it became obvious to me as to why these are so highly recommended and used by special forces currently serving. I should have bought these a long time ago, but the price at the time was just too high, but as the saying goes "You get what you pay for." These boots are worth every penny and will be my boot of choice for a very long time. Last but not least, Zappos customer service is outstanding, returns are completely hassle free, and shipping is lighting fast! I have a been a customer of there's for a long time and will continue to be as long as they keep selling the Asolo's. Thanks again!

My old Vasque boots had to finally be retired and after trying a few different boots settled on the Asolo Flame GTX. I tried a few different pairs including one from Lowa. Those clearly didn't work but I'm fine with the Flames. The toe box is a smidge too big for me toes but length and heel has been perfect for my foot, no blisters after about 20 miles in them on trail. I do wish the upper was a bit sturdier for ankle support, it's a bit loose and so the dirt and sticks and such get in causing extra dirty socks. The grip on rock and loose gravel is good as well, I find scrambling works fine.

The steel toe box out of the box was pretty restrictive, and pinched my toes. It took some time to break it in and mold the toe. After that, they worked like champs in any weather, hot and dry, cold and wet... These boots kept my feet dry and comfortable, and provided great grip and stability... They've provided seven years of fantastic service! They still look good, even though the soles are worn out, and the padding has deflated.

After my purchase I'm wearing these several times a week all day. With winter upon us in Michigan these are keeping my feet warm while offering great traction in wet and snow. The size is true to fit in both length and width. I ordered a size 9 and the fit is perfect. Might add a gel sole for some additional cushion. Although these are more costly the my previous hiking boot selections they are worn the extra money. Hoping they offer long term wear.

Super, super happy with these boots. After finally killing my old pair of Fusion GTXs after walking through sewage/whatever left over from Hurricane Sandy (actually melted the soles off the boots -- NOT good) I was looking for a replacement. These come up a bit higher on the ankles and are heavier duty than the Fusions, but they're just as comfortable. Can't wait to put in a ton of miles -- largely comfortable out of the box except for some seams near the anklebone protrusions which have broken in after a couple of weeks of wear.

This is the second pair of Asolo boots I have purchased for my husband. He is on his feet 14-16 hours a day. He loves the look of the boot and he says it's the most comforable boot he has ever owned.

Best hiking boots I've ever had, hands down. Bought a half size up and extra wide (EE), I normally wear 10.5 and went with the 11, then put some orange superfeet insoles under the factory insoles. Took a few weeks to break in nicely, but now they are my daily driver. I wear these every day and am on my feet all day in all types of terrain...I am a geologist and I work at a ski resort. Buy these!

Very nice boots! I have only gone on a couple 5 mile hikes since they arrived so I will need to check back in when I do a 10+ mile excursion with a backpack. So far however I have been impressed. They are true to size. Have good arch support. Protective toe covering is very nice. Sole grips rocks and dirt nicely. Boot looks good. No hot spots so far. I'm happy with them!
