Comfortable but stinky -
These are very comfortable shoes, but they do make my feet sweat and there is serious foot funk when I take them off. These are the only sandals I own that have this effect on me. Born, Reefs, my Byte golf shoes have never made my feet stinky like these do. Other than that, I love them and wear them all the time.

Keen Arroyo II a real shoe -
The Arroyo is a shoe, not a sandal. It has good support and a solid feel, more substantial than the Newport. The Arroyo is very consistent with the look and fit of other Keen shoes. Despite the open uppers, it is not as cool as I had hoped.
I'd also recommend:

Great looking shoe, tough on the heels.
The shoe is everything I wanted it to be but have had a little heel rubbing after a full days wear w/out socks.

The stiching along the sides began to unravel after 3 years of very light use. And, used in a tropical climate, the glue holding the pieces of the bottom of the shoe together came undone. Otherwise, it’s a perfect shoe for Asia.

I ordered a pair of these in 12. Newport II fits in this size. These were waaay too big. I tried 11.5. They seem the right foot size but the heel straps don't hold my foot. I tightened them as much as I could. No joy. I'm not sure if I need to go down yet another size or if they really lack sufficient heel strapping. Judging from the other reviews, I need a yet smaller size. Yikes. I wish Keen would standardize on their shoe sizing!

There isn't any support at the heel; the shoe came off while I was walking! I am a 10.5. I tried a 10, 9 and 9.5 and I continue to fall out of the heel; dangerous for running.. STAY AWAY FROM THIS SHOE.

Shoe fits fine, however, when walking the moves up and down. The back is to straight and doesn't grip the heal like my old Keen H2

I wanted to like these as i love the style an color, but the soles of these shoes are just too stiff like they have metal plates in them- so not comfortable to walk. A shoe should flex some when walking. I ended up returning them after a short walk across the living room.

This shoe looked good but was too narrow for me. I'm sure it would have been fine it came in a wide size.

if you need a firm ankle support, or footwear that firmly supports your ankle...this item is NOT the one. LOOK FOR A SIMILAR STYLE WITH STRAPS THAT SNAP & CAN BE CINCHED DOWN.
NOTE: I wear size 15 between a Medium & Wide: Keen shoes always fit VERY well and also have a wide toe bed, making for an extremely comfortable wear.
HOWEVER...this particular style has a tie-string to cinch the side/ankle support straps together, plus the side and support straps have some give & stretch, resulting in too much flex to provide any significant ankle support--esp. if you tend to pronate.
BOTTOM LINE: FOR ANKLE SUPPORT, STICK WITH STRAPS THAT SNAP & CAN BE TIGHTENED.
I'd also recommend:
Crocks...excellent pronation support and very comfortable.

The looks of the Arroyo II is great, the colour was better than expected, better than the photos. The construction was fine for casual walking. On the one good mountain hike the friction toggle lost its grip and the shoe went sideways, you need to knot it like traditional laces for serious hiking. For those of us with plantar fasciitis, the sole is seriously lacking, it's basically flat as a board, with a nice heel cushion. I had to add Dr. Scholl's plantar fasciitis support.

Two words...hot feet! If this is a condition you suffer from, this is the shoe for you. Air movement through the shoe is unmatched. These shoes are fairly expensive and don't last long, on average I go through 2 pairs a year but my feet stay cool!

My son wears a size 15 in Nikes, but these in a 15 felt a full size too large. We tried the 14s, and he said they fit better, but his pinky toe kept catching on the open part, so we're returning them.

I thought the Arroyo II might be a replacement for my trusty, well-used Keen Owyhee sandals. But they are closer to a shoe or boot than a sandal. The heel is much taller than the Owyhee heel, and they enclose the foot much more than the Owhyee does. For warm/hot summer wear, and casual street wear to light hiking, I strongly favor the Owyhee over the Arroyo. The Owyhee feels lighter, more breathable (cooler), and more comfortable overall. For wetter, cooler weather, and/or more serious hiking on rougher terrain, the Arroyo might be a better choice. But then, I would just use a light boot instead of the slightly open Arroyo style. I also tried the Teva Omnium Leather sandals, but they too were much heavier, less breathable, and less comfortable overall for light to medium summer wear, than the Owyhee.

Bungee cords not good - former, non-elastic laces better -
I have five pairs of Keens and have not worn any other shoes in years but all of the new Keen sandals have bungee cord laces and they do not support my foot nearly as well as the previous non-elastic laces. I have tried many times to get replacement laces but have had no luck with contacting Keens. Because the laces are continuous with plastic "brakes" I cannot find them anywhere. Will have to find a different brand of shoes. Very disappointed. This new lace has really affected the comfort of the shoe for me.

Blisters -
I REALLY want to like these shoes. I LOVE the way they look, and they are extremely comfortable, but I can't get my Achilles used to the back part of the shoe. I get blisters/cuts right above my heel every time I wear them for an extended period. Now, I just wear them to walk the dog outside. When it's cold I wear them with socks, and have no issues (but I think they look weird with socks).
Also, the bungee lacing system is not very secure. I had to replace the lacing system on one shoe after the first day, and Keen sent me new laces free of charge. The laces still aren't all that secure.
The shoe is top notch as far as quality and build. I will give Keen another try when I see a model that I need/interests me.
Also, on a side note, I ordered my wife the exact same pair, and she wears them ALL THE TIME with no issues.

Very odd design. The heel footbed is approx 2" off the ground. Felt like I was wearing high heels, which makes no sense for mens sandals. I like the look and overall feel of the sandals, but the height and slope of these things was unworkable. I've been gravitating towards smaller heel to toe drops and wider footbeds and these would have been a (pun slightly intended) huge step backwards. I wonder who in the heck designed them this way?

I’ve owned over a dozen pair of Keens over the years. Maybe more. I usually wear them out. They suit me well. However, I literally owned this shoe one month, mild use, and the orange liner stitching is already coming undone. WTF. And on my last pair of Keens like this, the bottoms came unglued, which was dangerous. I superglued them numerous time to get thru my travels. I’m not sure what has happened to the quality of their work, but, I may be done with Keens, which saddens me.

For + 10 years I wore a number of the Keene Arroyo IIs. Always 8.5. Now, no good. And the 9 is too small too (just). I am wearing a 9.5. What did Keene do??

It's not what this shoe does to the bottom of your feet; it's what it does to the top. The stitching is right against the soft skin on the top of your foot, and it irritates after 1/2 a day.

I bought Keen Arroyo II 7-8 years ago and I still use it. It has super comfort, super quality. I would give five stars for every parameter. It's the most comfortable shoe I ever had. But not these Arroyo which I bought 2 weeks ago. It went dramatically wrong. First - it became heavier, olds - approximately 400gr., new ones - 450gr. Yes, it makes sense. Then, sole made harder and heel lifted - very uncomfortable. I guess old shoes have some kind sole comfort system (text rubbed down), new ones don't. Comparing old and new shoes upper easy to see that old shoes made more carefully accurately and this feels on foot too. I didn't expect so big a difference so I bought new ones on internet with no possibility to return back. I'm disappointed.
