Walking shoes - I have to divide this review into two parts: 1. The Seller, Zappos. This is a great online site. Not only do they deliver shoes at a competitive price, but they offer them in a wide variety of sizes and the shoes were delivered within two days, even though they notified me that I might not receive them for 3 to 5 working days. What a pleasant surprise. 2. The New Balance Walking Shoes: I only graded the comfort part with three stars because they were not as comfortable as some of the other New Balance shoes I have had; notably the 903 model which they no longer make. Overall, I still like the shoes as long as your walking does not exceed 4 miles per hour. I do a lot of aerobics on a treadmill walking fast at 4.5 to 5 miles per hour for 30 to 45 minutes a day. Although the shoes hold up well, they would be perfect if they had a little more cushioning for the kind of walking I do.

New Balance MW844 - I've never paid this much for my New Balance sneakers... I decided to try these higher priced ones to see if there is a difference in comfort. I walk dogs for a living and walk 4-6 miles a day...These sneakers are worth the money...Very comfortable. I will never go back to the lower priced ones again...I'm very happy with them and will purchase a few more pair...

Very comfortable right from the start. I work 8 hours a day standing and walking on concrete and these are the most comfortable that I've ever worn. I need wide shoes and New Balance is the only one I can wear.

First timer at Zappos - Super service ordered shoes on Sat received shoes the following Monday. Perfect fit. Comfort is what I have come to expect from New Balance; would recommend shoes to everyone.

I have worn New Balance 840's model shoes for quite a few years without any problems. The 844 is even better than the older versions. I wear a size 12 but had to return the shoe because it felt a half size smaller. It was great to deal with a company like Zappos because they have overnight shipping and pay S&H both ways.

My "Dogs" are very happy! New Balance continues to provide quality footwear true to size and extremely comfortable. These replaced my old 717s and appear to be the same quality if not better. They actually appear more like walking shoes than running shoes.

Best Shoe EVER - This shoe needed no break-in- it was perfect from the first try on. It really is the most comfortable shoe that I have worn in many years.

A great shoe for any walker who has a tendency to under pronate. Very stable. Very light. Good arch support. Reflective material on sides & back of shoe. Good non-slip sole (sole pattern like octopus tentacle suction cups).

ZAPPOS has done it again! This is a top quality, 5 Star shoe!! I have plantar fasciitis (a foot disorder that is quite painful). This shoe is one of few that I can comfortably wear. It was recommended by my Podiatrist. If you stand or walk a lot, this shoe is for you!! Great looks too!

MW844 Experience - First 3 weeks of use find shoe very comfortable with attractive styling. Shoe was true to width but I had to buy a full size larger to get correct length. I walk 10-15 miles per week and thus will be very interested in how this shoe holds up and if it has any ability to keep water from soaking in on wet pavement. I have had shoes in the past that have had zero water resistance and thus socks became damp immediately.

Best walking shoe ever... I've struggled for years attempting to find a walking shoe with real support. These more than fulfill my requirements.

Great service and shoes - The shoes arrived sooner than predicted. The fit was great. The price was such that I saved about $15. Would buy here again!

Outstanding Cushioning - I bought this model primarily for cushioning because I walk both outdoors and on a treadmill during demanding cardio workouts. It has the best cushioning that I’ve ever experienced in a shoe. Now, I’ve only had this pair for a few weeks, so I can’t comment on the longevity of the cushioning performance. However, so far so great. I wore New Balance shoes for running for many years and was never disappointed in their performance and durability.

MW844 much better than the MW843 - I bought this sneaker after spending 3 years with several pairs of the 843, which always wore out inside, at the heel, within 4-6 months. They were also tight at the toes and took some time to break in. Otherwise, I liked the 843 sneakers. I had been getting pain in my calf and knees when walking up hills or long distances, which these sneakers eliminated. The 844's seem to be the same sneaker as the 843, except they are more comfortable and wider at the toes. Have not had them long enough to see if the heel wears out as quickly.

New Balance MW844 - Great Fit. Well Padded. The look is a little to chunky to me, but would buy again.

NB844 - Very comfortable and stable. Runs a little smaller in length and width. Excellent for long distance walking. Wish it came in other colors as well.

Make sure of your shoe-size - I was very pleased at receiving my order the next day, as promised. However, I normally wear a size 9 shoe and that's what I had ordered. After wearing the shoes for a couple of days, I discovered that with this particular shoe, I need a 9 1/2, as; they hurt my feet after about an hour or so. This is by no means a fault of the shoes, merely my assuming all shoe sizes are the same. Other than that, I absolutely love the shoes and WILL order from Zappos again for my next pair.

Comfortable and supportive - This shoe is very comfortable with great arch support. I have it in AA width which is extra narrow. Zappos doesn’t offer it in this width they start at B width. New Balance only makes 3 shoes in AA width which are 992, 811 and this new style 844. Shoe is synthetic but gives the impression of leather. Feels true to size unlike the 811 model which is huge both in width and length. The salespeople at my store will even tell you that.

I have several serious problems with my feet and my NB 844s have proven to be a most comfortable shoe and great for walking.

Too Small - I have had 4 pair of 843's in the same size, but when I tried the 844's they were 1/2 size too small. Very disappointing since they are the same last!

Not the Fit I was expecting - Ordering the extra wide shoe I thought it would fit better than it does. I have ordered the New Balance 843 a couple of years ago and it seems that fit is better than the 844.

Comfortable walking shoe - Works well with my custom orthotics. Is a comfortable, athletic walking shoe. I am using it for work, and I wish it had a less "sneakery" look - i.e., why does it need the patchwork fabrics and big "N." This review based on a few days of wear. I have a slightly narrow heel, high instep, and I like a roomy toe box (but not clownishly so). Works for me on all counts. The standard insole has minor arch support.

Right shoe smaller than left - My feet are the same size, 10B, but the right shoe was much too tight at the toes. The left shoe was just right. Both were labeled 10B.

Kind of ugly shoe, but fits my bad feet and can walk without pain. Can use as a business shoe.

Good Walker - Overall good walker, but not great in the arch area.
