Customer Reviews French Sole Sloop

Needed to rebuild the sole of the shoe to make it work. Loved the style. Bought a whole size larger-had to return because it was too large. Bought a half size larger- decided to keep but needed to add a heel pad so that it wouldn't rub my heel. The first time I wore them on the street realized that the sole was too low. The suede at the back of shoe rubbed the ASPHALT and immediately dirtied the shoe. Took the shoe to my neighborhood shoe repair, had the shoe resoled with a 1/4 inch rubber sole. Now they are perfect. Basically if you love the style you have to spend extra money to make the shoe work. If you don't like how flat the shoe is have the cobbler add a little heel. Arch supports made the shoe uncomfortable at the toe.

So cute, but wrong for my feet - I have small, but slightly wider feet. I have to buy a wider size in a very narrow brand-- like 'Dyeables'. Other than that, never wide sizes. This shoe is very narrow in the toe box area. I went ahead and ordered a 1/2 larger (the testimonials are true) -- a full size would have been a mistake-- however, they are still too narrow in the toe box. So sadly, they are going back. If they work for your feet though, they are darling. Zappos is wonderful.

Sloop awesome! I love these shoes. They are adorable. My only complaint is that they run a half size smaller than they should and there is no arch support BUT I would say that they feel like you are wearing slippers. I love them!

Worth the wait! I had been searching everywhere for this shoe! Its fit and comfort are perfection and worth every penny. Because this shoe is so soft, I was able to get only a half size bigger than I normally do. The other reviews were right; the shoe does run small (almost a full size smaller than it should).

Deeply saddened - I really wanted these shoes to be as in the photo. They are only house shoes - NOT street shoes and cheaply made at that. Can't anyone make a simple, sturdy, well cut, suede skimmer/ballerina flat? I have been looking for a long time. These are not it. I am sending them back and will keep looking. They do run a half to full size smaller than labeled and the colors are not as rich as in the photos; mine even seemed a little worn. The pink are also old stock and do not have the little label on the heel like the newer ones do. If I have to, I'll hire my own Italian cobbler to make my shoes…

Comfy classic ballet slipper - Finally found the right size for French Sole... in this style. Went up a half size to 7 and they fit perfect. No arch support, so not a good walking shoe for long distance. These work well with cropped pants and skirts, perfect for summer!

Odd Fit - These seem like the perfect pair of flats for 3 season wear. In your hand they feel great. Then you put them on your foot. The top comes up high enough to dig into the joints of my toes on top of my foot. I actually tried these in a store and the owner said they are odd shoes. She said they sell very few because the shoes do not fit many feet.

FANTASTIC! I trusted the other people and bought them a 1/2 size larger - they are simply marvelous! I own them in teal, beige, red and black! I wish they would have them in navy and yellow as well!

Cute shoe - I got these in brown and red. They run small and have very little arch support and padding. That being said, they are comfortable as long as you’re not doing a lot of walking on pavement and really cute. I'm happy with them and wear them all the time.

AWESOME SHOES!!!! I really wanted something different, comfortable and funky...I’m soo happy with my new RED SHOES!!!!...BUT YOU HAVE TO BUY A HALF SIZE LARGER FOR SURE!

Extremely cute, but pricey! Very cute shoe, but cost is high considering the quality of the shoe. Very lightweight and absolutely no support-it is like you are walking barefoot. Love how they looked so I kept them, just wish I could have found the same for a lot less $$$. Definitely order a full size up!

I think I just met my dream shoe. They came in the mail today and they are so soft. I'm glad I got half a size up because a regular 8 would have been too small. The top seam rubs a little bit on my heel, but it's the sort of rub that I can get used to. (Sort of like breaking in Chaco’s, but less painful) I really like them, and the grey is such a dark and pretty color. I may order them in pink later on.

A classic ballet pump - Runs a half size small, I am usually 9.5, but I easily needed a 10, and it only just fits. Soft and wearable, leather inner which makes it comfortable. Wouldn't want to walk miles in it, no support, but will be useful in the summer. Have two, pink and soft gold, both lovely colors.

Great product! I love these shoes. They are very well made, in Italy. They do run 1/2 a size small. I usually wear size 8, I ordered an 8 1/2 and they fit well...they stretch out a little after being worn. I have wide feet, and have had no problems with these shoes. These shoes are very flat though. No support. Other than that they are very cute. I wear them all the time.

Lovely shoe - Very comfortable yet elegant. I waited for these shoes for a while and I was not disappointed.

Comfy and sweet - If you like simple, comfy, sweet and sophisticated shoes, these are for you! These are my favorite shoes- I have them in two colors, and plan to get another spring color soon. My only complaint, because I wear them so much, is cleaning the suede-- especially the lighter colors. But the dry cleaning was worth the cost to renew my favorite shoes...

French Sole Sloop - Normally I wear a size 7 (sometimes7.5), I bought these in 8 because of the reviews and they fit me well. Not much of sole padding, I think to add the inserts. They look very cute. I got them in grey which is a nice solid dark color. I don't expect to get blisters, they are really soft.

Order up a full size! I ordered a half-size up based on all of the reviews (I normally wear a size 7 in flats, so I ordered a 7.5), but the shoe was still too small! It was very tight against my heel and I couldn't see myself wearing these shoes all day long. I returned this shoe, and if I choose to order it again, I'll definitely order a full size up (size 8). Another reason to order a size up is because the shoe has no padding or arch supports. I planned on purchasing a full insert for the shoe (the only way I would think the shoe would be comfortable). Also, the shoe is pretty slim ~ my foot is slim so this didn't bother me ~ and wider feet might experience more rubbing in the toe box.

The Teal Suede Looked Dirty - I REALLY wanted to love these shoes. They fit like a glove. However, I was expecting a bright, beautiful teal color and these looked dirty. It was as if they had been worn, but only in the suede, so I think that they weren't well protected in manufacturing. They were true to size, but these are such a soft suede that if I hadn't been disappointed in their appearance, I think that I might have not kept them. These shoes are going to stretch a lot like a thin leather glove. They have no support, which I don't mind, but others may have an issue with this. If you want a cute ballerina with comfort and support, try Me Too Nevada.

Cute, but hard to keep clean - I got these in taupe, I bought my typical size, and while they stretched somewhat (they became somewhat shapeless around the heel) they still fit and are very comfortable. The interior of the shoe is soft leather so they are very nice to wear without socks. Also a good fit for wider feet and no toe cleavage! My only complaint is that the suede is SO hard to keep clean; they look dirty so you can't really dress them up at all.

Slipper shoes! I love these shoes - this is the first time in my life, however, that I've purchased an 8 1/2 size - I usually wear 8, sometimes 7 1/2. I returned a pair of 8s and am glad I found these in this size on Zappos - I'm sure I'll wear these all the time!

Cute shoe, comfortable... sometimes - Cute, lots of compliments. Comfy if walking on carpet. On the sidewalk, I might as well be barefoot - no sole padding. Thinking about adding a padded insert (a bit irritating b/c one shouldn't have to tinker w/a shoes that cost this much). A tad wide, but I have a pretty narrow foot. Order up at least 1/2 size.

Great looking but not much support - Very cute and practical shoe. The color selection is great. It is truly a "flat" however and, as such, doesn't offer much support. I wear mine all day and, by the end of the day, am aware that there isn't much cushion between the soles of my feet and the hard ground! Although I am a "woman of a certain age", this shoe can be worn by anyone. My daughter ordered some as soon as she saw me wearing them!

Love them. I ordered the brick red, and it seemed to have more orange in it than the picture shows, especially when you take them out in the sunlight. I returned them for another color, but they were so very comfortable. I can't wait to get the new pair. I agree with everyone who says to size up a bit. The service at Zappos can't be beat!

Comfort Plus - I've worn a lot of "ballet" flats in my time, and these are by far the most comfortable. I loved the black ones so much, I bought another pair in teal. The price was a bit steep for such a shoe, I'll admit, but as soon as I put them on, it seemed they were made for the contours of my feet. Most others I've worn required an uncomfortable break-in period; some I've even had to give to Good Will because they never fit right. These, though, my feet highly recommend.
