Customer Reviews French Sole Sloop

I love these shoes! I received them a few days ago in the mail (amazingly fast shipping) and I haven't stopped wearing them since! I ordered the size that I usually wear and am very glad that I didn't listen to others' advice and order a 1/2 size larger. Having been a recreational ballet dancer for a number of years, these shoes truly fit like a ballet slipper and in order to have the support and fit they are intended need to be slightly tight on your foot when you first wear them. I can already tell mine are starting to form to my feet. Not a lot of arch support, but I imagine that could be improved with an insert. Covers toe cleavage and super cute! Can't wait to get another pair!

I love these shoes. Unfortunately I had to return the 2 pairs that I tried. I ordered a 1/2 size up as the reviews suggested, and the shoe was still too small. I went a full size up and the shoe was the right length, but became too wide and the sides were a bit floppy. I actually have a fairly wide (M) foot, so this was a surprise. \r\nThey are very cute, the padding is great for a ballet shoe and the material is nice. Hopefully they are a better fit for you, but definitely order up at least 1/2 size.

Not worth the price. Cute shoe, but I ordered the black naplak (one 1/2 size larger, 7 1/2/ which fit perfectly), but my pair is defective. The right shoe is puckered and gives the look of a trash bag on the my right foot. These are going back. Also, the toe portion has a high rise, so zero toe cleavage and frankly it looks like my feet are wearing giant tic tacs. These shoes have a matronly look. I love the super flat sole and the leather insole, but the material itself gives off a chemical smell. Overall, just not worth the money.

This is an update to my May 24th review which was written soon after I got the bronze suede flats. I still love them, don\'t get me wrong, but they do not stay so good looking. I don\'t wear them too often since it\'s summer and I mostly wear sandals but something happens with this type of material that I thought buyers should know about. After wearing them for awhile, an imprint of the toes starts to show through...a lot! My shoes fit fine and there is no other wear on them but the leather has turned very light colored over each toe which looks really funny. I am going to try to touch them up with polish by blotting a little color over the light spots. This spotting first happened when they were new and someone stepped on my shoe which left a very light spot. They are beautiful when new but don\'t stay beautiful too long which is disappointing.

This shoe was not very colorfast. I applied a liberal coat of Scotchgard before wearing them, and the colors still ran a little. Since random rain is sometimes unavoidable for me, I can not recommend these shoes except to people very aware of the weather.

They're an adorable looking pair of shoes, and I was looking forward to wearing them at work. However, once I tried them on, the sides from the inside of the shoe was exposed and did not look appealing at all.

These are totally awesome shoes that fit and feel like a glove. I bought the Black Tejas (which means lizard, I guess) and they are gorgeous. These fit true to size on me, both in width and length. I would recommend them to a friend and I definately plan on buying some of the other colors and patterns.

I love these shoes. They are very comfortable and look cute. I get complimented on them a lot. I have the same shoes in a bronze metallic color also.

Very soft material that was immediately comfortable. No need for protective bandaids on heels! However, the material does stretch considerably. I was hoping for a bit of a sturdier shoe for the price.

Exactly what I was looking for!!! I bought these in bronze, a half size larger than I normally wear because I read all of the reviews. They didn’t steer me wrong! The color is not so much metallic as stressed brown leather, making them look like I have had them for years, which I love. I have large bunions on both feet and they stretched in one wearing to accomodate them. They also cover all toe cleavage. Look great with both skinny jeans and skirts. Not the best for long walks but I did not expect them to be. Very happy with my purchase!

These are the best flats I have, and they are pretty close to perfect. Most shoes hurt my feet, even so-called "comfort" shoes. These do not hurt, and they look good. The cut is cute without being uncomfortable. These shoes do not have a lot of padding or structure. What I have found is that this is actually better for my foot pain. What makes a shoe comfortable for me is how flexible the sole is. Anyone who has similar problems might want to try this approach. These shoes are 99% comfortable for me and that is saying a lot. I will probably buy more shoes of this brand.

This particular Sloop has the same great fit and comfort in a shiny jet black with a kind of faux snake skin texture.

Cute, fun shoe especially for warmer weather. Not the shoe for arch support, but a pretty little flat to pair with jeans, shorts, skirts… capris. Runs a bit small, but ideal for a narrow foot/heel (they don’t slip up and down when you walk in them!).

I ordered the Sloop in Pewter - love the rich cool metallic color. This is a really classic ballet flat - all leather lined, which is hard to find these days. At first, they seemed a bit tight, but after wearing the first day, the leather stretched just a bit - now they are the perfect fit for my foot. They are super flexible and lightweight, but there is no arch support, so buyer beware if that is a concern. I wear them with linen capris for summer. Love this shoe! Will buy more colors for fall.

I have been on the hunt for the perfect black flat for quite some time. While these shoes may not be my dream shoe they were everything I was looking for. Comfortable and casual, can wear with capri's or skirts and dresses. My only complaint is the style; the top of the shoe (covering the toes) seems to come up exceptionally high. Had I tried these on in a brick and mortar store I probably wouldn't have bought them because of the high price, but since I bought them online I decided to keep them rather than go through the hassle of returning them. As everyone before me has mentioned make sure you buy a size up.

Love the ballet look flats, so contemporary AND so comfortable. I have multiple pairs and my most recent is the French Sole: Sloop Black Naplak! I had no experience with Naplak ... only patent leather and I have to share that the Naplak has a crinkled soft appearance that adds shine without the formality of patent leather and I love them! Took them to Paris with me last week and they looked very Parisian, trendy and were they ever comfortable! Thanks to Zappos for all their wonderful customer service ... I received them overnight and popped them into my suitcase and we were off to Paris! Just like that! Thanks Zappos!

Simple little flats to go with all. Cute with skinny jeans, skirts, shorts, and dresses. They are comfortable, but offer no support for the heels, arches, and ball of foot. I just put in those stylin’ Dr. Scholls Sole Expressions insoles to add a little extra padding in the footbed. As far as sizing, I say they run slightly small. I wear a 7-7.5 and ordered a 7.5 and they fit perfect. One construction feature that is bothersome on the suede pair is the "wave" at the shoe opening seams. The more you wear them, the more this opening loses shape out and looks a little sloppy. Not sure if this is the same for the other materials. If you need a simple ballet flat and aren’t too worried about support, I would recommend this shoe.

I love the style of the French Sole Sloops. I bought two pairs. Wish I had gone up a half size more. Usually I wear a 9.5, ordered as suggested a 10 (half size up), really needed to order a full size up, toes pushing on end of shoe. Really soft leather, still comfortable, very thin soles, you would not want to walk on rocks (like where I live) - definitely for the cement jungle, not Cherokee County! Next order will be a full size up.

I typically wear a 9.5-10 so ordered a 10. Perfect. Darling versatile shoe. Will probably get another color.

Very, very cute shoe, but as others have remarked, it's not very structured. I have flat feet, and while the shoe isn't uncomfortable, I could use a bit more support. It's fine for walking short distances, but I think if I wore it more frequently or more aggressively, as I might a walking shoe (or even other ballet flats I have), the form of the shoe would be completely shot. Cute and comfortable shoe, nonetheless.

Very cute, wearable, and comfortable. Ordered a half size up per the other reviews. Great little shoes, I'll definitely get another pair in a different color. These will be a great go-to shoe.

I have been looking for a pair of basic black flats for over a year, with no luck. I have never shopped online when I came across Zappos and was thrilled to see that they ship to Canada, as many other shoe sites DO NOT! Anyways, I wear a size 7.5 and have wide feet - after reading previous reviews decided to order a half size up. They arrived about 3-4 days after placing the order and I was so thrilled with them!! They are well made, look great and are sooo comfortable right out of the box - no need to break them in!!! They are definitely worth the price since I'll be wearing them a lot. GET THEM!

Have been looking for the perfect black flat for over a year. Just received black suede sloop. Based on reviews, and how prior flats fit my foot, I ordered a full size up but they are still a big snug (digging in to the top of my foot and heel a bit). I will wear them around the house and see if they loosen up a bit. I think these are "true" black flats - 0 heel, thin sole and snug fit. They look wonderful and I'm hoping I'll be able to keep them.
