Very good hiking shoe. These have great support for a hiking shoe and are have good water resistance. I typically wear dress shoes in size 8.5 or 9 EEE depending on the manufacturer. I initially bought a pair of the Keen Targhee in Size 9. They only come in medium width, but I heard from others that they run wide. It turned out that the width was fine, but the size 9 was definitely too small. I exchanged them for size 9.5. Those fit perfectly with a pair of merino hiking socks. They are extremely comfortable right out of the box. They provide a snug feel that makes them very stable, as if they were a part of my foot. Kudos to Zappos by the way. The original pair and exchanged pair showed up the next day after I ordered them! Incredible service! I would have rated these shoes a 5 except for one feature. The 'eyelets' for the laces are a made from webbing material without any metal or other reinforcement. So I have some concern that if the webbing wears through I won't be able to use that eyelet for lacing. On the other hand, comparable hiking shoes are selling for almost double what I paid for these. So time will tell how good a value they are. But at this point they are an excellent fit for my wide foot and are very stable.

Best all around shoe anywhere...This is my 5 pair over 6 years. I have worn out 1 pair working but the other 4 are great shape. This latest pair is my new dressy pair...

Shoes look and feel plasticky, very stiff out of box. Going to wear today and if no improvement I will return tomorrow probably.

These are basically an exact copy of the ones I bought several years and have stood the test of time. I like that they are waterproof so I don't worry about puddles or mud. I actually bought the men's version this time because I liked the understated colors better. I wasn't thrilled with the women's choices. These are not a wide width, but are plenty roomy for my orthotics and my wider than average feet.

It took me several brands and shoes but these are great. Perfect color, not too over the top colors and great fit. I need wide mid foot and these are perfect. I did change out the laces (too much red) but no problem there. I would highly recommend this shoe if you don't have narrow feet. And yes, I ordered a half size about my normal hiking boot size. I also recommend that. I rated arch support excellent...but I don't like too much support pushing up on my foot.

Ok, don't laugh at this review. I am 69 years old and do a lot of dog walking. I want to be safe and sure of my steps. The Keen Targhee II is just what I need to feel secure on uneven ground. The shoes also have arch support which I need as well. Couldn't do without them!!

They are good. Comfortable. Light weight. Durable. They run small so order up a 1/2 size.

Excellent for a wider foot. Durable. Waterproof. We replaced the factory insoles and bought memory-foam insoles for added comfort. Super fast delivery with Zappos and free shipping!

I initially ordered as suggested, 1/2 size larger, which was too big even with thick cushioned hiking socks. I called zappos and they sent the correct size (10 1/2 D) which arrived the next day and fit perfectly. They're a little heavy, the sole is very stiff and there is slight heel slippage as others have said. If I hadn't already returned one pair I would exchange these for the mids, which would likely eliminate the heel issue and justify the weight. Overall they're comfortable and look/feel rugged enough for tough hiking terrain.

I am unhappy. This is the third pair of Targhees I've bought, the first two at local stores, where I could try them on. They have been fantastic low boots, very sturdy yet still light enough to be agile. This pair seemed heavy and stiff, much more so than the previous two pairs - the length seemed right but they felt wrong, with poor arch support and a sort of "did they leave something out?" feeling. I worn them a few times indoors, not quite sure if I was imagining a difference. My old pair were covered in mud so I took a gamble and wore these outside for a day. They DID NOT improve. Now I can't return so will have to try shoe inserts and other tricks to make do. My best guess is that they was made in a different factory. This is the first time I've regretted buying from Zappos, and it's the exact reason I've resisted - trying the shoe on in person. My bad, lesson learned.

Bought this shoe primarily for work during wet winter weather. This shoe has a big brother in a 6" hiking boot, which I bought a couple years, which is virtually the same as the shoe. Recommendations by other reviewers are right on- order a half size larger. I have a narrow foot & these shoes will work although they seem a little wide, like my other Keens. Quality is typical Keen-- well made, functional, excellent materials, very sturdy. Should last years. And of course, Zappos service is next to none. An excellent buying experience- huge selection, free two-way shipping & very competitive pricing. Shoe laces do tend to slip & loosen but double tying solves that.

Shoes are very heavy and stiff. Opening on the shoe is too large and because they have no flex your heel constantly pops out. Feels like trying to walk in wooden clogs. Sent them back. I would not recommend these shoes to anyone that has to walk unless you have broom sticks for legs.

Best shoe/foot wear that I have ever worn on my feet. Excellent for daily wear and hiking trails in woods. I prefer the Keen boot for extended hiking trips. I love that they are made in Maine too.

These shoes are very comfortable and look good. They aren't as durable as I would like as the soles started coming off after about three months. Zappos customer service though is amazing and this will definitely not be my last pair of shoes I buy from them.

I bought this shoe for my 14 year old son for the coming winter season. Our whole family has worn Keens for many years. Very dependable shoes that last and look great doing it. My son loves the wide toe base and the excellent arch support. He was thrilled to get them on after wearing low support sneakers over the summer. My husband is an electrician; on his feet all day, everyday, and Keen is his go-to shoe. We love the quality and comfort, and would recommend them to anyone without hesitation. Keen fans for life!

This are without a doubt, the most comfortable shoes I have owned with very little breaking in needed. Maybe I got lucky on sizing, but they are a perfect fit. The shoes are a bit on the heavy side, but they feel solid and well built.

Well made shoe. Sized correctly, but they tend to be wider than shoes of the same size. If you wear heavy socks this is not a problem.

Ordered a pair of size 11s. Miraculously, when they arrived, both shoes were marked 11, but when you compared them side by side, the sole of the right shoe was 1/2 inch smaller than the left (and too tight). I phoned Zappos and got a new pair sent the next day. Amazing. The new pair fits fine. Thanks Zappos.

I followed the advice of many commenters and ordered a half size larger than usual. Unfortunately, that turned out to be way too large for me; my foot was literally slipping out of the shoe. I returned that size and tried my normal size. While the front of the shoe fit well, the back of the shoe was still too large for me; my heel would slip out 2/3 of the way with each step I took. I returned the shoe (thanks Zappos!) and then bought the North Face Ultra 109 GTX, which was true to size for me.
It's a shame that the Targhee II did not work out. The inside lining is nicely padded, and the insole was really comfortable.

These are the best hiking boots I have ever owned. Good arch support, firm sole for walking over uneven surfaces while flexible enough for comfort. They are a wee bit on the heavy side but not annoyingly so. I give 5 stars for everything except style. Though they are not ugly, they don't stand out as attractive either. Good quality and functional. That's what I paid for and that's what I got. Happy customer here.

This is my 3rd pair of these over the years. For my feet there simply is no shoe that I find more comfortable. Whether day hiking, working, or traveling - this is the shoe for me.

I absolutely love this shoe, and am on my third pair... in four years. They're great for hiking, everyday wear, office wear (if your business is casual). My biggest complaint is Keen quality control. These shoes are absolutely wonderful except for the bonding between the sole and the shoe. The most important characteristic to me on these shoes is the waterfastness. I have had to return a few of these shoes to Zappos over the years because of hack repair jobs on new shoes.
