FINALLY! These boots are what I've been looking for a few years now. Although I'm not crazy about the lace-up back since it sort of dresses down the look, and the tongue under the laces in the back is unattached on both sides, they are just the right heel height with a hard-to-find 13WW fit. For a WW, though, the rounded toe doesn't give me quite the room I was hoping for because of my own boxy toe span (a problem specific to me), but the instep is great and the boots are comfortable for 8 hours' work.

Sassy looking - I usually order WW shoes. I'm so glad that I measured my legs first because the WW would have been too big, so ordered a W. Still, as it is, the heels inside are pretty wide but thick socks helps that. Also had to order up half a size because they were out of 8 1/2 at that time. All in all I still love the look of these boots.

Nice boots - This boot was actually my second choice; my first choice was out of my size but very pleased with order. I haven't been able to wear boots in 20 years because of my large calves. Department stores never carried boots that were able to fit my calves so I decided to try my favorite shoe store...Zappos.com. And bingo!! This boot is great due to the fact that you can lace up the boot as loose or tight as you want it. This boot gives a little flare due to the lace up style...sexy yet still classy. I did find the boots a bit pricey but once I was able to wear boots again I really didn't mind the price.

Boots that really fit and look nice in size 12...I’m excited - I’m from Canada 5’10 and wear a size 12M. In Canada finding size 12 is near impossible, let alone trying to find a size 12 that are fashionable and not extremely wide in the calf. I am so glad I found Zappos and I really love my new David Tate boots. I just got them and haven’t worn them outside...but around the house they are very comfortable and actually make my size 12 feet look smaller. The lace up back allows me to draw the boot tighter around my skinny calves (which don’t look half bad). The boots seem warm enough to wear during Canadian winters. Thanks again Zappos for coming to Canada and thanks David Tate for making a descent boot for tall big footed women. Shipping to Canada took about 1 week...I will definitely shop Zappos again.

Great boot for my really big calves - I have quite large calves and can't believe that these boots actually fit but they did. I am very heavy legged and they just barely fit, but they did fit. They look great, but they wrinkle about the ankle like virtually all tall boots do. I just hope it will get cold enough here in NC to wear them once or twice this winter.

David Tate Formula High Knee Boot - I have been looking for a knee high zip on flat heeled sexy styled boot for both work and play. I found it in the David Tate Formula Boot. I love how you can adjust this boot to fit different size calves/legs and it is a true knee high boot. I love how it zips up, and it goes great with jeans and mini Skirts. I love to tuck my jeans and the adjust feature works great for this. Ladies, I love to show these boots off; their great. I worked in the office for hours and then went dancing and my feet were fine. Anyway, this is a great boot for the price and free shipping can’t be beat. Way to go Zappos. And David Tate, Love your sexy boots. K.

Love my boots - They fit my calf because they are adjustable look great with almost anything great for winter or when you just don't feel like wearing heels but want to look flashy.

Great off season purchase - I spent the entire winter looking for a low heel type boot with no success. After my old pair became too worn to wear, I turned to Zappos.com. The boots fit and look great. The turnaround time was less than 24 hours from when I ordered them online and when they were delivered. Thanks for the GREAT service.

Stylish and comfy - I wear a size 12 and was looking for an all-purpose black leather boot that I could dress up or down. Since I am 5' 10" I wanted something low heel, which proved very hard to find. In fact these Tates were the only thing that I could find on Zappos, except for Fitzwell Sandusky which were some of the most uncomfortable boots I have every tried. So David Tate Formula fits the bill. I got the medium calf width because I have nice slender legs. I was a little concerned that the calf would be too wide since I noticed that they also make wider calf sizes in this boot. But they are sleek and form-fitting without being constricting in the calf. The toe box is comfortable, not too pointy, but not clunky-looking either. I do slip forward slightly in these boots when I walk, but this is a problem that many people encounter with most boots and it's pretty minimal slippage--I can live with it and it's not causing blisters or anything like that. The laces on the back of the boot were a bit of a concern at first. First of all, they are extremely long, so you may want to trim them a bit. I made two small bows, one at the top of each boot and then cut the laces down considerably. I think they look much better this way and now the laces do not peak out from beneath a long skirt, which looked kind of sloppy. By husband jokingly refers to these boots as my "S & M boots" because of the lace-up back, but I think the laces add more of a Victorian look, sort of reminiscent of a corset (what does he know about fashion?!). Overall, these are a conservative, nice boot that can go with everything. And in terms of what some of the other customers have said about the leather looking cheap, I don't think it's the most amazing leather I've ever seen, but it's still very beautiful and supple. It's a good buy!

A stretchy insert at the top of these beautiful black boots makes them look a little goofier in real life than in the photo, however, since this also provides a great fit and extra comfort. It is a trade off I am more than willing to accept. Also, since the insert is on the inside and the laced back is really what captures the attention it does not detract from the sleek look of the boots, which are very comfortable and look great. Nice leather and they are very versatile - their classic look allows them to work with jeans, dress pant or skirts.

LOVE them! Am deliriously happy with David Tate's Formula boot. It's beautifully made, very comfy and it fits my large calves! They do run a bit short in length - normally I'm a size 8.5 WW but ended up getting a 9.5 WW. There's a bit of room in the shoe part of the boot, but no rubbing of any kind. I can wear them with hose or thick socks and still have a comfortable fit. Am seriously considering ordering a second pair for when the first pair wears out.

Nice Boot - This is the first pair of boots I've ever owned. My big calfs and wide feet have always prevented any boot from fitting. These boots not only fit, but fit well. The only downside, and it is minor, the ankle is very loose and the laces don't go down that far. But do I care - NO. I love the boots and love Zappo's great on-line service. GREAT PLACE.

Great Boots- Well made, stylish and oh so comfortable. A little expensive but they look expensive...

Boots - I was very satisfied with the look and fit of the boot as I have trouble getting correct fits because of a wide calf.

These are the boots of my dreams - I have been looking for a while for stylish boots, medium heels, good price and can fit any calve size, since I am just very tall and normal calves. Now I have found them. And when I wear pants I can expand the laces to fit the pants inside the boot. How cool, yet great for dresses. I love them. My only downside is I never wear heels and have to learn to walk comfortably in them without having my toes slide forward. Is there some trick to that? Good shopping buy.

A great boot! Finally one that fits my calf comfortably. Very comfortable boot from the start with no break required at all. Works with anything you wear! Recommend this boot!

Great boot for wide calves - The look is great, the fit is great, and they’re comfortable. I finally found a pair of knee high boots I can get over my calves. The adjustable string in the back is the answer for me. Even if I lose weight, I can just pull the string tighter, and adjust the boot width. I think I'll have these boots for a long time.

David Tate Formula Boots - I love these boots. The style is very sexy and they are very comfortable for me. A lot of women and men love these boots! The heel is perfect.

Like the laces, but.... It is nice that these can be "customized" to fit by tightening or loosening the lace. The leather, however, is so stiff and cheap looking. I expected better quality. However, because of the good fit, I'll keep them and try to condition them and make them softer and nicer looking.

Great Fit for wide calves - These boots are really comfortable and they fit like a glove. The front of the boot looks great but the laces on the back are a little longer and thicker that I expected. Perhaps they make the boot look cheaper. But in general I am happy with the design because I have wide calves and the laces allow that extra space that my legs need to feel comfortable.

A great boot - I was looking for a medium heel boot with a little style, and I found it! I love the lace detail of this boot, and the fact that it adjusts the fit is a huge bonus. Once I put in insoles, these boots are quite comfortable.

Wide calf = wide ankle - In my never-ending quest for boots that fit my calves, I decided to try these. I ordered a 9.5 wide, which comes with a 16-18' calf. Lace up adjustment worked well...but the ankle is extremely wide. If you look closely at the picture, there isn't much taper in the ankle at all. I was swimming in that part of the boot and the lacing doesn't tighten that part. So they looked tailored on the calf, but clunky everywhere else. Leather was fine.

Great! I just got these (I ordered Sunday night and got them Tuesday afternoon....that is astonishing!) and I'm so pleased. My husband even liked them. I had previously purchased a similar pair from a different company, but they came, and I was very disappointed. I returned them, and came to Zappos for these for the same amount of money. These look like a much more expensive boot, and they fit really well, which is sometimes hard for me, because I have larger feet and fairly wide calves, but not big enough for most wide sizes. I got the wide and only had to adjust the laces a little. Very comfortable and VERY cute!!!

A Boot That Really Fits - For years finding a boot that zips without a struggle was so discouraging that I seldom wore a boot. This boot fits, looks great, and is comfortable. Got the last pair in my size!!!
