These are the most comfortable pair of boots I have ever owned. This is the second pair of these boots that I bought. I also have a pair in brown. If they had other colors I would buy them too. However, I deducted a star in the review because of the workmanship. I purchased the boots less than three months ago and already the heel is separating from boot. So, on top of spending $400 on the boots, I had to spend an additional $50 to get the heels replaced.

I owned these boots years ago and LOVED THEM. Unfortunately, after 5 years of hard wear, they fell apart. Considering i wore them almost daily, I am extremely pleased with how they held up. After a year with cheaper boots, I decided I need to replace my old favorites. Unfortunately, I got a 9.5 regular and it felt narrow. It probably would have stretched (maybe this was the size of my old pair?), but I wanted them to feel perfect so I exchanged for the wides. Big mistake. The wide not only feels wider, but also longer. I thought I could make due, but they just felt not right so I am returning them. At this time, not exchanging back for the regulars since those did feel tight. I'm not going to have this boot at this time.

These boots were very nice - brown suede. I felt that they were a little baggy/slouchy (5'5" and 140lbs.) on me and one calf seemed to be slightly tighter (right), so I returned them. I would give them another try, though. It might have just been the pair that I received. Very comfortable, and the wide gave some extra room in the footbed (bunion!) without being overly wide.

I usually wear a 7.5/38, and have 15 3/4" calves. Last year I bought these in 8W in black suede in desperation when I was traveling to snowy weather. That pair is quite big in the foot but fits my calves, though they tend to bunch a little around the ankle over the course of the day. This year I got the brown suede in 7W. Still quite roomy in the foot with tights, but should be fine with wool ankle socks, which may also help with the ankle bunching. It took a lot of muscle to zip them up the first time, but they made it.

I've been wanting a classic black boot that was just dressy enough, but with a flat heel and waterproof. I tried Blondo, but they were too stiff and too tight in the calf. This La Canadienne Passion is so soft and fits like a glove. Actually, too much like a glove. I could never tuck tights or jeans into it even in the wide width. I decided it was too tight in the ankle and sent it back. But it seems all boots this season are really tight in the ankle and calf and I felt the zipper was going to rub me. I decided to order the only other two pairs of La Canadiennes that don't have zippers and see if they fit a bit looser.

I guess I'm the outlier here. My calves are about 14" and I felt these were a bit loose. The suede sagged a bit, and they were slightly higher than I like. I have very bad feet. The wides were wearable, which is already pretty good, but they didn't have a lot of padding. Comfortable enough, but since I felt they were too saggy I'm sending them back.

I bought these boots because I have freakishly skinny arms and legs and have trouble finding boots that are narrow enough. I also have arthritis in my toes and plantar fasciitis. The boots fit very well. They are attractive and well made. The arch support is no phenomenal, and the insoles lack even the slightest cushioning, so they weren't terribly comfortable for me to wear for long, which is a shame, considering the cost.

My feet measure 7.5 but the majority of the time I wear 8 in closed-toe shoes to accommodate socks. I ordered 8, but had to exchange them for 7.5 which fit well. My calves measure 13" and these are slightly wide but this works well with skinny jeans and thicker leggings. I like the simple lines and high quality of the leather, comfort and waterproofness/warmth.

My feet are size 7.5 but I almost always wear size 8 in closed toe shoes, especially boots. I ordered 8 which were a little too big so re-ordered 7.5 which fit perfectly with thin/medium socks. Nice basic boot which is a winter staple as they're water proof for all my urban adventures (have not tried in more than puddles, city walking). My calves are 13.5 and these are a little loose but looks fine with knee-highs/leggings.

My very first pair of La Canadienne and also my very first pair of knee length boot that are comfortable to wear. The boot is very warm due to what I think is fleece lining. Perfect for fall, spring and even winter weather. I'm very glad that zappos has my size in Wide since I have wide feet. I have been looking a long time for boots with wide width without compromising style. I can wear thick socks and still have room to wiggle my toes. I'm a little bit disappointed in the insole since it feels very thin and has little or no arch support. Although I did notice that memory foam does help a bit with shock absorption compare to my other boots. Overall, I'm satisfied with my purchase.

These boots are comfortable and perfect for the horrible winter weather we've been having. They mean I can get to work with dry feet and not have to change as I still look fairly professional. I took a couple of stars off because they did look well-worn pretty quickly, and the shaft of the boot has a bit of a tendency to slouch down. But overall, an excellent choice if you live and work in a wet, snowy climate.

The boot is too simple with not enough details and the suede at the toe on one of the boots looks a little worn.

Beautiful classically styled boot. BUT, the zipper bends in at the ankle making them extremely painful to wear even with socks. Looking for a solution.

I bought this boot in a 7M a couple years ago. With squarish toes and very narrow arches, heels and ankles, it's extremely difficult for me to find boots that fit well, but these were better than most, although they do slide around on my feet just a bit. Wearing thick cotton socks without toe seams is sufficient, though, to make them comfortable for walking a few miles at a time. I have plenty of room in the ankle and calf for tucking in pants, but my ankles in particular are unusually narrow. Style-wise they're just extremely unremarkable. Construction is excellent - they're warmly lined and keep me perfectly dry in the rain, and with a bit of polish don't even show any wear even after 2 years of heavy use. Expensive, but they'll last long enough to be worth the price.

These boots are very comfortable and warm, since they are lined. They are waterproof, and are sleek and stylish. The leather is lovely. However I don't think they breathe as other boots may since they are waterproof.

Beautiful, but all the La Canadienne boots I tried including these run very narrow in the calf and too tall if your 5"5" or under.

This is my third winter wearing these, and they're finally getting somewhat comfortable. I had to have the calves taken in because I have large feet but slender legs, and it took a long time to stretch out enough across the toe box that my feet weren't screaming at me by the end of the day. That issue is finally better, but they're still just not very cushy, and I wish the heel was a little lower (walking is my main form of transportation). That said, they have been my go-to boot this whole time because they're water-resistant and because they look nice enough to wear with skirts to the office.

I liked that these boots were free of adornment. The boots were well made but the leather was stiff and unforgiving. I was hoping that I could insert my custom orthodic but that was not going to happen with these boots.

These boots are really comfy. I like that they are lined with a soft material which helps keep your leg warm. I've been told by many people how cute they are. They are pricey though.

I just got these boots today and I'm keeping them! I wanted to write a review, as all previous reviews helped me decide which boots to buy. I also have big calves, about 14" and wear a size 6. Note that when they say the circumference is 14.5", it's based on a size 7 boot. I believe it becomes smaller or larger based on the size of the boot. That being said, I was extremely worried about not being able to zip up the boot when it arrived. I forced it to zip the last 3rd of the way up and it felt quite snug, but it zipped! There is no way I can wear jeans with these - just thin socks and tights. However, I have been wanting a pair of knee high boots that are waterproof for some time. I thought about getting Hunter rain boots, but not practical based on the price point. Waterproof boots that can also be dressed up or down was the way to go for me. They are classic and won't go out of style, a tad plain...but I like that. Btw, I am 5" and the boots are about 2 inches below the knee. My feet are slightly wide and I generally just buying regular sizes and stuck with a 6M.

Nice boot, but the ankle is a little small compared with the rest of the shoe (and I don't have particularly large ankles. This size was overall too large, but thanks to Zappos return policy, I know I can order a couple of sizes/boots until I get the right fit!

Not what I was looking for. More casual than I was hoping for - too much so to wear to work. Would be okay with jeans. Heel is very chunky. My husband said they looked almost like motorcycle boots.

Beautiful La Canadienne boot. Shaft too tight and I do not have large calves. Although the other reviews say they will give, I do not want to take that chance when this company makes such great boots. I'll find another that fits well.

Oh, my, how I wanted these boots to fit! They are just beautiful right out of the box and looked so elegant on. The fit at the calf was perfect; however, the toe box was cramped and there is no cushioning in the foot bed, so I realized they had to go back. I have been told I have a narrow foot (I rattle around in Keens and Dansko) and going up a size wouldn't have worked as length-wise, these were perfect. So, so sad.
