I bought a pair of 12R's after wanting a pair for so long. Selling shoes for a small, northern-midwest shoe company for years, I knew about the quality, craftsmanship, and heritage sewn into each of these boots. I finally pulled the trigger and I have been happy ever since.
Mine have been on so many adventures - fishing trips, vacation, numerous horseback trail rides, and countless hours spent on my feet in the blacksmith shop. The gaucho leather option on the 12R's is perfect for maintenance, too. For the most part, if I get a scuff or a scratch, it can be removed with most leather boot conditioners.
With this boot, much like any other "western" style boot, downsizing is best - I wear a 12, downsized to an 11, and boom! Fits perfect.
Lastly, these boots are comfortable. I've walked 10 miles in Washington DC in one day with these and I've stood behind my anvil in the forge for 10-12 hours at a time with these. I need to pick up another pair, these are still holding up great but I'd like to have more Frye's in my arsenal. But... I have some serious attachment to my first pair of 12R's.
Excellent support and comfort. Superior quality and durability. Timeless heritage. Favorite boot and bookmaker on Earth.

I've been wearing these since '69. They were taller then. I'd buy pair #0017 (or whatever) but I can't. I can select Qty = 1, but there's nowhere to click "Add to Cart." If you click on "Basket" it taunts you. It says, "Your cart is empty." Yup. Sure is. Whose fault is that?

i am an 11 1/2 D. i bought an 11 1/2 D from another seller. they felt too big. i then bought an 11 D from zappos. they felt better for me, just a tad tight.
i have a slight bunion and the small toes seemed to confined. i returned the 11 1/2 D - stayed with the 11 D - and had the boots stretched . just received them back from the cobbler - they feel much better. i'm sure after a dozen wears , they should be well formed/ broken-in. they look very good. i have the gaucho color . frye was selling them : $ 378, zappos $ 142 .. i actually checked with frye - these are true u.s.a. made frye boots. i bought them mainly for riding the mc, but they look & feel pretty good. good luck. I went by a lot of the reviews I read about this boot running a little large. I normally wear a size 10D. So I ordered a 9-1/2D and they fit perfect with just the right amount of room to not be too tight. Had I ordered a 10 they would have been too big. These boots seem very well made and I really like the Gaucho brown color. A removable insole would have been nice but I can already tell their going break in comfortably.

Very well made boots. My son LOVES them! I bought this pair for Christmas to replace a pair that my son has had for several years, same Frye Harness 12R style and gaucho color. He wears them pretty much every day. They have held up to rain and I don't know how many miles of walking. They get even better looking and more comfortable with age! I probably could have just replaced the heels on his old pair (which I will still do) and he could have worn them several more years, but they were getting worn and I was out of ideas for a Christmas gift. Now he will have a great looking worn in pair for messy days/messy work and a newer pair for the rest of the time.

These boots were a birthday gift - and are a big hit! We both spoke with customer service representatives who provided excellent service both during the purchase and with questions afterward.

Forever I have wanted boots that gave me the fit, feel and quality that I was looking for. For years I have settled or over paid for boots that missed the mark for a variety of reasons. Then a beautiful women came into my life who was aware of the Frye difference. Needless to say, I love her and I love my Frye boots. For us, heading out in these boots inspires a great attitude.

I was looking for boots made in the USA when I ran across these. I love the old school look along with the fact there was no break in period whatsoever. Very comfortable, you pay for what you get!

I bought a pair of Fry boots over 40 years ago. I loved those boots. I recently started riding a Harley and Fry boots were my first thought. The quality of the leather an ed the superior construction is outstanding. They hug my feet! I'm looking forward to many years of satisfaction.

I used to wear this style of boots years ago. So glad I found them again, only better because Frye makes them. I thought I'd wear them mostly with jeans, but I've found them to be so comfortable I wear them to work with khakis and other casual pants. The only negative thing about them is that my white boot socks get black stains from the unlined inside. I'm sure this will eventually correct itself. In any case I would definitely recommend them to anyone wanting a comfortable, long wearing and stylish pair of boots!

I am finally after 12 years needing to replace my boots. Bought my first pair of these Harness boots in 2005. I wear them probably 330 of the 365 days a year. Finally the heel on one snapped off and the soles are wearing through. Highly recommend these boots. Well worth the money.

Have Worn Frye boots since my first pair of Campus boots I bought in the 70's. I still own Campus for dressier occasions. But The Harness is able to withstand long days in the gravel, then dust em off, and out to dinner. This is the most comfortable boot I've found, and it gets better after a year or two of use and care. One pair[I own various colors] is wearing its 3rd set of heels, and with a brisk application of Frye dressing, they look great still. These boots are a good investment, and can provide many years of heavy use with care.

I wore these boots as a young man and then couldn't find them for years. A couple of years ago I tripped across a pair in NH and I bought them even though I didn't really need new shoes at the time. I now have 3 pair for dress and play, brown and black and I wear them most of the time. My shoes sit a collect dust. Once they are broke n they are like wearing slippers. I wear the wide width and so many companies don't offer the wider widths. Thanks Frye for coming back in to my life.

I bought these boots back in 2012 after putting in 4 years hard time in a retail shoe establishment that sold Frye. I drooled over these for years and finally pulled the trigger. I knew the gig, I knew the sales pitch, I knew how they were made, how many steps were in each Harness boot, etc. I knew what kind of quality was put into these boots. I walked out of the store in these boots and thought "This was a wise purchase". Five years later, these are still my go to boots. I wear them anytime I'm not in the office, and I wear them on casual Fridays in the office. In the hours that I'm not working in an office, I'm a blacksmith. I wear these in the shop too. The support is fantastic, and standing on my feet for a number of hours is most bearable while wearing my Frye Harness boots. In the Guacho color, these boots develop a really cool worn look. The leather is soft, supple, but durable and resistant to scratches. The sole is tough and wears slowly. I'm about due for a re-sole of these bad boys after years of lots of treading across sandpaper like carpet, concrete, and whatever else the world throws at me. These boots run true to slip-on boot sizes, which is usually a size down from your typical shoe size. I purchased an 11, I wear a 12, and these fit like a perfect glove. Will forever be a Frye customer, especially with this style that's made in USA.

My husband says these are vey comfortable and don't rub on his ankles. He got his regular size 12 and has room for heavy wool socks. He had a bit of trouble getting them on during the break in period. He just had to stand up to get them on at first. They are wide enough to be comfortable once they are on. He loves this style and also got them in the 8 R! He tried the lined version as well, the smith harness, but did not like the fit on those and returned them. The smith harness rub his ankles. He highly recommends the regular harness for style, comfort and quality!

I wear my boots as often as I can. The boots run a little big so I bought mine half a size smaller than I normally wear.
