These boots are a gorgeous color. However, just too western looking in person for my taste. Toe curls up too much, but the top buckle is adorable. I bought 1/2 larger like other reviewers had suggested and they were a little big, so I don't know that I would suggest going larger.

Nice boots, very comfortable on. I'm usually a 8-8 and ordered an 8, as I have for my other Frye boots. This pair was actually pretty snug, but I assume they would have given a bit, and fit perfectly. I won't know though, because they are going back today. The boots arrived and I was immediately so-so about the texture of the leather. I expect leather to have some variation in its tone and grain, but one of these boots was all bumpy towards the ankle while the leather smoothed out towards the top and on the toe, and the other boots was smooth all over. Although I didn't like it, I still considered keeping them until I noticed "Frye" stamped on the outside of both brass buckles on both boots. I've always appreciated Frye's branding for its subtle approach (the embossed logo on the leather of most boots), and I have no interest in being a walking advertisement for any company. Although the wording on the buckles wouldn't have been noticeable from afar, it would have bothered me, so the Veronica Slouch boots are going back today.

I just pulled these boots on in a size 7.5 (black) and found one boot ran tight in the toe box, but I think it could be broken in over time. However, the leather is very dry as typical of low-grade leather, not the usual beautiful Frye quality. I'm desperate for art studio work boots and I love the design, but I'm afraid these will require too much breaking in and I agree with other reviewers who said their leather chipped or flaked easily. Frye needs to up their quality control and find out where the source of sub-standard leather is coming from. I did originally order this same style in brown, size 8, and quality was amazing, but size was too big. I did not hesitate to try a smaller size, but I switched to black. Now with disappointing leather issue, I am going to have to pass and try another brand. Thank you Zappos for outstanding customer service!

These boots fit perfectly and I loved the color and texture of the leather. Unfortunately, they were not fitted around the ankle, but were tight at the top; so quite unflattering.

Beautiful leather but shoddy workmanship! I love so much about this boot; the color, the buttery softness, that it holds my heel firmly in place. However, the shortcomings quickly mounted. Before I even removed it from the box I noticed that the stitchings in the left calf buckle were broken. After putting them on and taking them off only twice, the leather footbed liner (mysteriously in two separate pieces) had peeled back. Superglue? A trip to the cobbler? I don't feel I can invest such a high price in boots that have such poorly manufactured details. Back they go!

Very cool, nice looking boot, but the black patent has a brown undertone that's a bit strange. Almost looks like a brown boot painted black. Also, tough on bunions.

Couldn't get my foot in these... I guess I have an exceptionally high instep because I couldn't even get these boots on. I got them as a birthday gift from my husband and was really bummed to have to return them. They are a great looking boot. My search will continue thanks to Zappos easy return policy. I am determined to get myself a pair of Frye boots, just may have to get a shorter height.

LOOKED better OFF than ON - Beautiful, gorgeous boots. It took me forever to finally be able to get them on. I could only put them on in the morning when my feet were rested. I have slim calves so I think I would prefer boots from now on with a zipper only. I really do love these boots but they are not made for me.

I was disappointed in this boot and am sending them back. They're beautiful, that's for sure, but they are extremely hard to get on and very hard at the toe making them really uncomfortable. I bought a pair that zip in the back that are much easier to get on and the toe much more comfortable.

This is my second pair of Frye boots but those are so narrow and small everywhere they did not even fit me. I am a size 9½-10 and ordered them in 10. My feet do not even go in the boots. They are short, and would have hit my calves in the most unflattering part of them, not that I have wide calves but they would have looked odd. Maybe the measurements got mixed up. They are well made but they are so narrow everywhere that it is impossible to get into them unless you have very narrow feet and calves.

Not tall at all. They came up about mid-calf height. Hate the height. I have the Vera tall, and they are far superior. Veronica tall is going back.

I love Frye boots and own 2 pairs that are so comfortable and seem to get better overtime. I have been eyeing the Veronica slouch for a long time and finally decided to purchase. I ended up returning because the ombre coloring in the photo, which shows the blue half way up the leg and was my favorite part, but they very different when I received them. The entire leg of the boot was cream color and the only part that was blue was just the very foot of the boot. I ordered another pair since I thought they might vary a bit but they were exactly the same so I returned those too. I was disappointed because I really wanted to love them. If they looked just like the photo they would have been great.

I can believe how disappointed I am! I couldn't wait to find these on my doorstep and subsequently try them on and I was pretty disappointed! Hard. No cushion or support. Very tight in the toe and very loose in the heel, to the point I felt like I was walking out of them in the back! Bizarre! So sad, love the look, but these have to go back! I don't think I could wear these all day at work, no way! My search continues!

I purchased these on 6pm since they were on sale. Even with a discount, I paid quite a bit, and I was expecting high quality boots for the money and for the Frye brand. I have another pair of Frye boots that have amazing craftsmanship and that live up to the brand name, so I had a point of reference. I was so excited to get the Veronica Slouch after eyeing them for a few months and finally taking the plunge to purchase them. Shipping was quick which was nice. However, when I finally received them, I opened the box and right away noticed a huge difference in the craftsmanship and quality of the shoes between my other pair of Frye boots. It was so disappointing - the leather wasn't as luxurious, but rather thin...there was no lining inside the shaft of the boots, and the stitch work on the shoe seemed mediocre (glue visibly sticking out on the seams, etc.). I really couldn't believe they were Frye boots! I decided to return them right away. 6pm being a Zappos discount site offers free shipping when you make a purchase, but no free return shipping like its sister site.

I think I'm going to return these because the pair I got look a lot different than in the online picture. I expected a certain amount of variation, since I got the stone washed kind that are half dyed, but online the colors look carefully blended and in person, mine looked like they were simply dipped or brushed with dye. There was no smooth transition between colors.

I was very disappointed in the quality of these boots. The leather just feels cheap, the boots feel light. For the same price, or a bit cheaper, the Frye Engineer 15R are of a much higher quality in my opinion. Sturdy, heavy, a sole to last a lifetime, everything you'd want in a pricey boot.

Oh, how I wanted to love them. I have been wanting these boots for over a year and finally decided to spend the money on them. I opened the box, they were lovely and smelled great, too! When I put them on, they were immediately uncomfortable. My heels slipped in them causing the beginnings of blisters in the 2 minutes I walked around in them, but at the same time my toes were being pinched. I can't go a size smaller because the toe pinch will be worse. I am more than disappointed. I couldn't wait to have these as part of my fall wardrobe. Bummer.

Frye has a fantastic reputation for their boots, but Yuck! What were the designers thinking? I ordered the Veronica slouch in stone wash and it wasn't what I expected. They looked really cute online but in person, it's another story. I am pretty thin so that might be part of the problem. The boot was really big on my calves. They kind of looked like rainboots/fire men boots! And the stone wash looked like someone threw them down a quarry and let them sit for 30 years! I'm into vintage style but this was beyond vintage or worn looking. Comfortable boot, true to size but I sent them right back to Zappos.

I was disappointed. The boots I got were much shinier than the photo and the leather is quite thin. I do not love these boots.

I really wanted to like these. But alas, it was not to be. Tight everywhere. I tried the next 2 sizes up and still it was very tight at the top of the foot (area under the strap/buckle). Ended up going with the Clarks Orinocco's instead. Otherwise, the boot is gorgeous & has a certain edgy-ness to it. I'm bummed it didn't work out.

I wanted these boots for so long & when I finally got them I was disappointed in the quality. I have a couple other pairs of Frye boots & the quality & construction is excellent. However, the Veronicas are strange. They are a gorgeous style, but the leather is noticeably different in texture on both boots and the left boot is looser and slouches more than the right. I thought I had just gotten a defective pair, but I tried a second pair and although they were a bit better, they still had the same issues. This is absolutely unacceptable in such an expensive pair of boots. Too bad, because the style is super hot.

I debated about these since I already love my other Frye boots purchased from Zappos, of course! Costing more than I usually pay, as soon as I opened the box I was disappointed. The shaft leather was soft and thin, and the color (blue) was not as deep as I thought it would be. I am thinking about trying the Frye engineer 15 inch though.

Disappointed - I have always wanted a pair of Frye boots--unfortunately the calf is usually too slim. These were listed as 15"--more like 14" in size 7. And even though I have a very low instep, they were very difficult to get on and felt too big once I got into them; major heel slippage. I would have kept them if they had not been so expensive. Also, they are not lined-just rough suede on the inside. I will stick with my Ariat cowboy boots--can beat the look, comfort, and price. Love Zappos however--overnight shipping, great customer service, easy returns.
