I absolutely love these boots! I wear a size 6 - ordered a size 6 and they are a perfect fit - very comfortable as well. I usually wear them with a trouser sock. I love the quality and style. However, it is quite a struggle to get them on the 1st few times. Thankfully I was prepared from having read the reviews. I managed with a slippery sock and a boot horn but it was not quick nor easy. But do not despair - I can now pull them on fairly quickly and without the boot horn so they will loosen up. Buy them!

These are my first Fryes and I wanted these since as far back as I can remember, finally I received them as a birthday gift. I couldn't be happier! I really was getting worried when I read all the reviews about them being tight, but I have to be honest, they are snug, and if you know your feet are not small, I would recommend sizing up. The calf is tight on top but I'll live. I think over time it will form to my foot; it is not uncomfortable. Overall I give them 5 Stars because they are definitely worth it. One little detail, because they are leather, the pattern on one boot is different than the other, but I love them so much it doesn't bother me. Awesome boot, will take walking in to get used to but overall I am happy. They are not shiny as I feared either, they are so awesome. I love them!

These boots are fantastic! However, I do have 2 problems with them at the moment. 1) my heels are rubbing against the back, not because they are too small but I just may need to wear thicker socks to break them in. 2) the leather sole on the inside is peeling up a little bit, I noticed when I was taking off one of the boots (this could be because my feet get a little sweaty). However, I can always use super glue to make them stick again. I thought about getting them replaced but I am sure this would happen again. I wish the leather sole was 1 whole piece and not 2 so this would not happen to a pair of boots at this price. Nevertheless, these boots are beautiful, great quality, rich leather, durable, and get more comfortable each day you wear them. I was a little skeptical about spending this much for a pair of boots and was considering ordering them elsewhere for a better price...yet, Zappos has amazing customer service and I trust them and they also do not add on tax to these boots. If you are thinking about getting them like I was, just do it, you will be glad you did.

Fabulous boot -- everything about it. It looks much nicer in person than online. The shaft circumference is neither too large nor too small, and is nicely shaped; the ankle fits comfortably against the foot; the shape of the toe is refined; there is good arch support; and the heel height is perfect. Really, I can't think of one thing I don't like about this boot. If I had the funds, I'd purchase more than one pair.

I love these boots. I'd gone back and forth about whether to get them for a year (since they were so pricey). However, I will be wearing these boots for years to come, so it was worth the money! These boots are comfortable from the moment you put them on. They don't have to be broken in like some other styles of Frye boots. You will not be sorry if you buy these boots!

Wonderful, sturdy, casual boot. Really well made. Looks great over skinny jeans or under boot cut.

I bought these for my wife for Christmas this year. Based upon other reviews regarding sizing, I bought a 7, which is what my wife usually wears. When she first tried them on, she could only get on the right boot. Again, based upon other reviews, I figured they just needed a little loosening up. I simply put my fist inside the boot and stretched out the leather a little bit. After that, she was able to slip on the left boot as well. She started out by just wearing them in the house a couple of hours at a time. After they had stretched out a bit, she wore them to work one day. She works in retail sales and is on her feet all day. At the end of the day, she said her feet did not hurt and that the boots are as comfortable as any she has ever worn. As for looks, the boots speak for themselves. It is kind of hard to go wrong with Fryes. I have a pair of Frye harness boots that I have had for 10 years. Frye makes high quality boots that just seem to get better with age. It is kind of like your favorite old flannel shirt and faded Levi's.

Have the same boots in smooth brown; so comfortable had to have them in black too. Pricey...but value for the price makes them a good buy.

I just received these boots in the mail yesterday. I am in love! These are my fourth pair of boots I've purchased this fall/winter, and will not be my last. I tried these on at my local Nordstrom's store and they were amazing! The leather is incredibly soft and you can tell that this is high quality. I was a little hesitant due to the high price point, but splurged anyways. Out of all my boots so far, these fit the best in the leg shaft. I am about 5'5 and have super skinny legs. My other boots always leave a gap on the sides-it looks ok, but obviously I would prefer no space. These do NOT leave a gap! They look perfect on. I ended up buying the black pair since I have two browns already. I wasn't crazy about the black color thinking that it would look too biker-ish. But that is not the case. Even my husband liked the boot and he is very picky. If you are on the fence about these boots, buy it. They are so worth it and I'm sure you will love them as much as I do. Now I'm looking to buy the Veronica Slouch in short. Thanks, Zappos, you are great as always!

My husband knows how to say Merry Christmas! Love him and these boots! I wear a 6 - these are 6.5 and perfect with normal socks, I cannot wear my thin instep orthotics because the toe box is tight with the extra layer - moderate support otherwise. They're beautiful. Quality look. Substantial and sturdy. I feel great wearing these. So many boots this season - but only these will do.

These boots are fabulous. I love them. They fit great size-wise, although like with a lot of my Frye boots the heel slips a bit so I need to wear thicker socks. They're a bit snug out of the box in the top-of-toe area but I can see that will loosen up with wear. My boots aren't very slouchy just yet. I'm hoping that changes as well, but if not, they're still super cool. This is my sixth pair of Fryes and just as awesome as all the others I have. Great quality.

I absolutely love these boots! They are gorgeous, versatile and amazingly comfortable. I ordered a 1/2 size larger, but after wearing them a bit, I now think I should have stayed with my true size. As always, Zappos' customer service is superb.

Sweet leathery satisfaction. I've been craving these boots for many moons and for x-mas this year my dad finally agreed that these were a choice investment as far as foot coverings go. I've gone through 5 pairs of inexpensive boots since last x-mas but at around this price a pair that adds up, that money is clearly better put towards some quality boots that will last for years! My feet pretty consistently require a size 7.5, (I almost asked for a size 8 because I have a high instep (which can be a big issue with leather boots) and semi-wide feet). Knowing that nice leather will allow some give over time as it relaxes, I decided to trust the majority which said they fit true to size, and asked for the 7.5, they're sublime! My mom wears the same size and she wants a pair now, though I think they're comfy as is, she has arch problems but we've determined there's more than enough room to slip some arch support in there. I've been wearing them every day since I got them and haven't experienced any blisters or discomfort which I thought was characteristic of the NEW, breaking in the leather Boot Experience, apparently not the case when the boots in question are such high quality. The back of the heel, right where you would normally get those crippling blisters, is supportive but isn't stiff like it is on most leather boots, in fact the whole upper leather isn't as stiff/thick as I imagined and I'm glad. I've worn these with ultra casual running tights/leggings and cozy sweaters, with more put together skinny jeans and a nice jacket, and with a really nice dress and tights, they're so versatile, they look awesome with everything. You won't regret this investment! also the heel produces a beyond satisfying click on hard surfaces. Make good choices, buy Frye boots.

I have been wanting these boots for a long time and decided to get for myself for Christmas. I am very happy with them and the style is just what I wanted. I originally ordered a 9 in black and I always wear a 9, but they were too loose. Ordered an 8.5 and they fit fine. Was worried my toes would hit the front, but they didn't to my surprise. Will fit the best with medium weight socks (not thick or thin). The only thing I would want different is to have a full rubber lug sole for better traction. Thanks Zappos.

These are perhaps the best shoe investment I've made in a long time. These will not go out of style, and they only look better with age. Fits true to size and easy to romp around town in them feeling like a million bucks! Well worth it! I got them in slate and vintage chocolate. I think I'll go for the black next to replace the engineer boots I already have. Perfect!

I bought the black/brown Frye Veronica Slouch boot from a friend's recommendation and a lot of comparison shopping. The quality cannot be beat: the leather feels buttery and supple, the seams are strong, and the boot feels solid. I wear them almost every day and I receive compliments from strangers each time. I wear them for 12 hours without any foot trouble, they are so comfortable. My only struggle is to pull them off, but I expect that from a pull-on boot. Overall, they fit true to size for me. They were snug at first, but loosened nicely after about a week. I used the Frye conditioning cream to prepare them for winter and they look even better than new. These boots are more expensive than what I've ever paid for shoes before, but they are so worth it. I know that I will keep them for years.

I bought a pair of these last January, and they are my favorite pair of shoes I have ever owned. I wear them with skirts, with jeans, with dresses... They took about 2 days to break in, and did give me a blister or two in those two days. They fit true to size (I am an 8 1/2, with wide-ish feet). Best purchase ever.

This is a beautiful boot! Comfortable, nice looking, very soft leather, fits well (I ordered 1/2 size bigger than my usual size). This particular style (the stonewashed look) is a bit more casual than I am looking for, so I am exchanging these for the dark brown Veronica Slouch boots. I can't wait to get them, because these felt awesome on!

A fabulous boot. I look for very simple style with boots and these are perfect. Just enough room to get on without a zipper. I did put a footbed in for a little more cushion on the bottom for comfort. Love the look. Great with jeans or dresses. Perfect for long socks showing out the top.

I literally just got these boots in the mail and I'm officially in love. Seriously. These are the most perfect boots - and I'm very particular when choosing boots. They fit true to size (7.5). I have another pair of Frye boots in a 7.5 as well, so I didn't notice any difference as far as sizing goes. I am a shorty (5'1") and I honestly think these boots make my legs look longer. I have a fairly small calf and I can tuck skinny jeans into them perfectly. Will look great with tights and a dress and virtually go with anything in my closet. I'm a poor college kid so these were a huge splurge for me, but if I had more money I would definitely buy another pair. Yes these are pricey, but if you're on the fence just go for it. I don't think you'll regret it!

Beautiful boots however, calf is not very big at all! Don't be fooled by other reviews!

Lovely boots! I own these in 3 colors all size 8, except the stone stonewash which is an 8 1/2. The black tumble full grain is the softest and when you fold the top over it's black unlike the black distressed which is off white distressed leather on the inside. I find the cognac stonewash is my favorite! They are a rugged look but the color variation is so very rich and beautiful in tone. The stone stonewash are a little harder to get on but just as comfy as the others, get at least 1/2 size up on those. I am 5'4 110 mega skinny legs and bony feet these boots do not fit my calves tight yet they are not swimming either. Heel slips in all just a little. I cuff them to the max some days, other days I wear them tall. I wear them with beautiful dresses, skirts, or cut offs. Very versatile. Love the softness. I am a hair stylist on my feet all day my shoes must be comfy, fun, and made well. These are! Zappos I love you! All companies should learn from you! You rock! Thank you!

Making em' jealous!!! People either stare or compliment every single time I wear these boots. There is NOTHING like a pair of Frye boots with its leather, texture, and rich color. I did have a little difficulty getting my heel in but have learned to do it timely by a method of slowly but firmly wiggling it in pushing downwards.

Alright, I am definitely the person who reads reviews and reads up on my product before I purchase it. These boot's are great! Here is my experience...I ordered both the calf shine black and the tumbled full grain because I could not tell the difference in the texture online. I even spoke to two Zappos' representatives (who were so nice and answered my endless questions) who agreed that it was hard to see a huge difference in the two black boots by just looking at a computer screen. The boots came and here is my opinion, the tumbled full grain has a texture to it, and is a bit shinier, but not crazy shiny. It is not a deal breaker or a huge difference. I am sure once they are broken in, I won't even notice. The calf shine actually had a more worn look, the leather looked smoother too, and the black didn't seem as dark. I almost went with the calf shine until I realized that they have a white stitching all around the boot...I prefer all black and not to see the white stitching. Also, if you are going to wear your boots with the buckle part open or partially rolled (which I am seeing as a trend everywhere), the inside of the calf shine is grey and not cute unrolled and you can see the Frye tag when you roll it or leave it open. The tumbled grain is all black on the inside too and the Frye tag placement is different, not as noticeable (better placement in my opinion). The Calf shine would look funny open or rolled because of the grey contrast on the inside, which would now be on the outside! Also, as for sizing...I am no help! I do think these boots are average or on the narrow side. I have a narrow foot and these are a perfect fit. Not big at all. Also, I am an 8.5 in my other Frye boot's (Melissa button). I thought I was going to have to go up to a 9 when I tried the calf shine on, they were tight! I tried on the tumbled grain pair and they fit perfect, a little room. not too snug, ready to wear! They are so comfortable, and I just love the way they look and feel! I can't give an honest opinion if they run small or big, because one pair ran small and one did not. Zappos is so great with their returns, I say order both sizes if you can't decide...ordering one and sending it back for the right size, and having to wait is torture when all you want to do is wear the boots!
