These are the best work boots I've ever owned. I work outside in all weather conditions, on concrete and metal surfaces, on my feet for 5-7 hours a day. My feet are sensitive and I'm usually in pain when I stand or walk for long, but in these boots I don't have any problems. It's incredible. I can run in these without killing my knees, which is also kind of miraculous. I only had to replace the manufacturer's insole with a more supportive arch, which is true of all my shoes. They're even reasonably water-resistant even though they're not rated waterproof. The boots do run a little big, and I had to go down half a size to get a good fit. The breaking in period is short and blister-free; the only real problem is a thick seam on the tongue that rubs against my ankle bone, and that will soften enough in a week or two. The leather will scuff easily, but that's a good trade-off for how easy to wear these are right out of the box. I just bought my third pair of these boots in as many years—my job is hard on my footwear and the soles wore out again. I hope Timberland continues to make this style for many, many years.

Comfortable out of the box. Great boot for work. Just ordered a 1/2 size bigger. Wear with a thicker sock.

I just bought my second pair of black 7 mediums--my shoe size is a perfect 7M with no foot problems. I wear the old pair daily for dog walking in all weathers--they were comfortable straight out of the box, waterproof, mostly non-slip, and give good support when I'm going up and down hills sideways. For full-out ice, I strap my ice grippers onto them. I don't always have time to clean them when coming in from a muddy trek, so I've bought the second pair to keep for "nicer"--like going to the grocery, post office, bank etc.

These boots are comfortable and not heavy, even with the protective toe. They look nice and I think they will be really great for tromping through damaged buildings where something could possible fall on my foot. They look nice and fill my needs for volunteer work I do. I believe they would work well for any type of work where you need the protection of a steel toe, or shoes that will wear protect in warehouse work, construction, or any other place you would need to protect your feet. They are extremely comfortable, (wore them all day right from the beginning) roomy, and have really good support for my feet.

Comfortable straight out of the box. Felt like I was putting my feet into marshmallows. Went out for a long walk in the snow, gravel, and pavement with the dog. Warm, good support, very comfortable--love the roomy toe box. These are true to size--I am a perfect 7 medium and that is the size I ordered. Not sure about arch support--that isn't an issue for me--but these boots feel perfect against the bottom of my feet.These replace a pair of Timberland Nellies I had for many years and wore out.
