Great hiking shoe -
Bought these for a trip to Park City, UT.
Kept my feet very warm and dry while trudging through the snow. Wore them with thick/wool socks. Could have used a 1/2 size bigger, but they were comfortable right out from the box.

Perfect hiker -
This shoe is perfect for my feet for hiking, but I actually wore it around town for the first few days. I need ankle support for my wobbly ankles that cause me untold back problems, and these do it without being too stiff like most hiking boots. They support on the front and sides, but have a big dip at the Achilles area so they don't rub. They are cute with jeans and I can't wait to take them on a hike in the woods. Also they are lightweight, which is an issue in the hot southern climate. I ordered an 8 to accommodate socks, but usually wear a 7 1/2. I don't understand the size issue with Keens, because they seem true to size.

Love my boots!
I'm wearing them right now! They are comfortable right from the box. I went for a short walk/hike and had no blisters, rubbing or discomfort. I am very picky about my shoes - comfort is very important to me. Sizing was the biggest issue. I've never owned a shoe in size 8.5 (normally 7.5 - 8) so listen to others (and me) and order a bigger size than you think you need.

Keens are great but difficult to size -
This hiking shoe is extremely comfortable, easy to use with my orthodics. Maybe a little less ankle support than I would like for snowshoeing. I wear a size 8 shoe and had to go to a size 9.5 in Keens!

Love them boots!
I have looked everywhere near me and no stores had any women’s hiking boots. I was apprehensive about ordering online but the free shipping thing kept me interested. Recently I visited a friend and he had these exact boots that I had been looking at Zappos and he said they were super comfortable right out of the box. I ordered them and they were. I absolutely love them. The hardest part was deciding on which color.

Gorgeous boots -
The left foot had a bit of a problem at first but I think it's because my left foot is slightly longer than my right. It feels better now after a day or so of slight pain. Beautiful hiking boots though! This color stands out more than the other typical brown/black/camel colored hiking boots out there.

Fantastic boot!
I've been looking for a boot for a long time that is so great. It's incredibly light, fits like a dream, gives great support, doesn't look too cloddy, and yet performs like a boot should. Love it!

Satisfaction -
I really enjoy my walks with these boots. Their light weight makes them very comfortable. Looking forward to try them in wet snow to check the waterproof feature. I also like the look - so do my friends...

These Keens are just the ticket -
I received my Keen Targhees and put them on and immediately went out into the woods on my usual hiking trails. They are absolutely a great hiking boot!! When I encounter roots and uneven terrain they protect my toes and keep my ankles secure. I have had feet problems on and off for years and have to be very careful what I wear on them and these are a big thumbs up. They look cool too.
I recommend them highly!!
I did order a half size bigger than I usually wear when I read other reviews of these boots, and they were just right.

Thrilled -
I am a boot sort of a girl and I get very attached to my well-worn footwear. So I was very pleased when my new Keens arrived and felt like comfy light-weight slippers. They have great support, fit true to size and I'm about to order another pair.

Keen's Targhee Mid II -
Love the color (Columbia - wine) and look of the boot. Ordered a half size bigger than I normally wear. Still too small so had to return and order a full size bigger and it just fits.

Great shoe -
These are awesome boots. As I have had a broken ankle and have hardware and want something comfortable - these are it. Very comfortable and didn't need to break them in. After getting them I hiked right away and had no rubbing and they felt awesome. Would highly recommend them. Do order a 1/2 size bigger though

These are- or, were- indeed the best boots I ever owned. However... First, regarding the original Mid: After 8 mos. of moderate use the toecap on around the left little toe area started to separate from the leather. Surprised only one reviewer on this site mentioned a quality problem. Exchanged for Mid II’s and now I see several reviewers on other sites are having the same problem with the new model. Keen has a fantastic warranty, but of course I don't want to have to use it again. The original Mids were the coolest looking shoes on the block. It seems Keen lightened up the tongue area on the II's, and the overall effect is the kind of pinkish hue you get when you mix the whites and the coloreds in the laundry!

Faulty shoe -
I ordered a total of 4 pairs of this shoe and each one was faulty. With the first pair, there was a fold in the insole that made the shoe extremely painful to wear. I tried to flatten it hoping it would smooth into shape, but it was set where it was, so I tried ordering a different pair. This time, I ordered one of the same "mid II" and one of the regular Targhee (no ankle support- both had great reviews). I was very disappointed to receive both pairs with the same problem; both in the left shoe. I called customer service and they were very polite and helpful, they re-ordered the "Mid II" for me with a special note to double check the insole before shipping it, and I returned the other 2. The last pair arrived with the same problem, this time on the right side. Granted, had I kept the others I could have kept one from each box, but it didn't say much for the quality of Keen shoes. I have since bought, and been extremely happy with, my "Merrell Vibram" pair (very comfortable straight out of the box - got caught by a wave and proved that they truly are waterproof! My jeans were soaked and my socks were perfectly dry!).
If you are planning to use your own insoles, this shoe might be OK, but it makes me wonder: what else is faulty that I might not be able to feel straight away? I wouldn't recommend Keens to any of my friends.
As far as size goes, you'll need to order at least half a size up from your usual. Good luck!

Ordering my third pair of Keen Targee II Mid Waterproof in forever! I never worn them out, but do beat them up over approximately five to seven year period. I've got questionable ankles, so these Mids make the difference I need in any boot environment.
Make sure to order 1/2 size larger, I wear a "perfect" 9.0, except in Keens (got to be 9.5).
I've always said, if we had a zombie apocalypse, the only boots I need, are my Keens!
You might find them a bit heavy, but you'll get used to them. Give them a try, they'll be your best boot ever and you'll be ruined for normal non-Keen footwear! I also own four pairs of their sandals (Newport H2), wear them, shopping, camping, hiking they go anywhere spring and summer. If you're brave enough to pull it off, add socks for fall foot attire, then for late fall, winter, early Spring, move into the Keen Targhee!

I absolutely love these boots. I wear them while hiking and since they're waterproof I actually wore them in the snow. They are very supportive and comfortable. No blisters or aches after 9 hours in them. I will say I would size up a half size. I am normally a 7.5 and felt they were a smidge small. I got an 8 and they fit perfectly.

Great looking boot! I normally wear an 8 these days, but I ordered up to a 9 because I know Keens run quite small. However, I should have ordered an 8 1/2. They were a bit too big. Sent them back. Think I’ll go back to my favorite Keen Durand. The toe box is nice and wide. It’s a great cold weather boot.

These are a great-looking hiking boot. Very well constructed, and I really wish they would have fit more comfortably! It may be the length (or lack of LOL) of my legs, but the top of the boot hit at an uncomfortable place on my ankles. It was better with a tall hiking sock that prevented the friction but I could see it being very annoying/uncomfortable after a long hike. I am very reluctantly returning these because I really love everything about them!

I initially ordered a half size larger than my actual shoe size because the reviews advised me so. They ended up feeling too large and clunky. Maybe I just like a snug shoe? Whatever the reason, I shipped them back (which Zappos makes ridiculously easy) and ordered the next size smaller and they had it on my doorstep in a flash. Without even an initial break in periods, these shoes went right to work doing roughly 15 miles a day over very rugged trails, boulder fields, cobble beaches, slippery, algae-coated, granite outcroppings and crazy-steep hiking paths for 7 days in Acadia National Park. My feet loved them. They had great grip, support across the mid-foot while boulder-hopping, water resistance through some shallow streams and breath ability through some heat throughout the whole day. I loved them. I will buy the new edition of these when these wear out, which probably wont be too soon because they hold us to all that Mt Desert Island and I cold dish up on them so far.

I had been wearing an old pair of hiking boots the previous weekend and hiked about 5 miles, and mangled my little toes as well as my bunion. Clearly my feet had changed in the last 5 years and I needed a new pair. I found this pair as a highly ranked model and decided I should try it out. I was a little apprehensive about the "medium" width because I have a bunion on the left foot, which requires me to buy wider shoes lately. My feet have also grown somewhat larger and I have been ordering 8 or 81/2 shoe size in sneakers. So I decided to order the size 9 hiking shoes, to allow for thick hiking socks. As soon as the new pair arrived, I put it on for my evening 1-mile walk with the dog. It was very comfortable, sturdy and supportive. After a couple of days, I wore the pair for my weekend morning hike, 5 miles one day and 6 miles the next. I walked on paved trails but the recent rains created puddles and muddy slippery stretches, which I negotiated safely, and comfortably. My feet have been very comfortable, yet supported in the arch and the ankle area. I am very pleased: this is the best pair I have ever worn! They are fairly lightweight and stylish enough to wear around parks and restaurants.

Compared to my Keen sandals that are a 9. I ordered a 9.5 to give extra room for a thick sock. exchanged for size 10 with a thick sock it’s absolutely perfect the padding around the ankle gives outstanding support and comfort not to mention the always comfortable Keen Sole. This is an Out of box comfort No breaking in needed.

I'm a size 8 shoe across the board and read the reviews to order up so I purchased an 8.5 and a 9. Let me tell you, my husband was ready to throw the shoes out the window because I was back and forth on both of those sizes for weeks. I've never owned a true hiking boot so I wasn't familiar with how they should feel. Immediately trying them on I felt confident in the 8.5 but was worried I might need a little more wiggle room so then I'd lean more towards the 9's. We were going on a 6 mile hike in the White Mountains and I didn't want to be stuck on a mountain top in pain so I was torn. I ultimately read up on some info as far as how they should initially feel, tried them on with a variety of sock sizes (thin to thick) and at different times of the day when my feel were smaller or more swollen from the day. I'm rambling because I was hoping for a review like this in my search so I'm hoping this is helpful for someone else :) Leave a fingers width behind your heel after you push your toes to the very top of the boot UNTIED. I did this with both thin and thick socks, climbed some stairs, wiggled my ankles around then went with the 8.5 size. The 9's just didn't feel right on the ankles so make sure you take that into consideration. Day of the hike, I was so happy I went with the 8.5 size. My feet were comfortable the entire time and it was the first time I wore them, no breaking in prior to the hike. My only con is that they have zero grip on slippery rocks. I learned that the hard way and then it was a tough trip down trying to avoid most of the rock walking paths. Unfortunately it was raining so it was just bad luck on that. Dry land was great. Would definitely recommend for day hikes.
