Patagonia hikers - I bought these boots prior to a 2-week hiking trip in Patagonia. I don't think I could have been happier with their performance. The break-in period was quick & easy, the comfort level was high, and I had no problems at all during the long days of hiking in the mountains. Actually, in our group of 13, there were 3 of us with these boots. Thanks again, Keen!

Go anywhere boot - The comfort and support of a running shoe, with all the features of a full out winter boot. These are great they are really cushioned in the heel and forefoot, with just enough support for the ankle without feeling like your feet are locked up in prison. These are my pick for snow and slush.

Finally, a hiking boot that fits! First off: DO order 1/2 size larger. I usually take a 6 or 6 1/2, and take a 7 (with a thicker sock) in these. Love having comfortable, dry feet! As a bonus, these required no breaking in. Highly recommend.

Great Walking Shoe - These shoes are so comfortable. They hug my feet and give them the best support ever. I have wide feet and they give me plenty of room. I usually wear a 6 1/2 and had to go up to a seven. The lacing system keeps the shoes fitting properly the entire time I am wearing them and the light weight yet solid feel of the boot keeps me walking as long as I wish with no discomfort. I find myself slipping these shoes on when I am not hiking and I normally would wear lower sneakers simply because they feel so good and give such great arch and ankle support. Guess I'll have to buy a low pair also. Zappos.com has become my only shoe store. It is wonderful to know that the service will be quick and efficient. You sure know how to treat a customer!

Keen Targhee Mid - Love this shoe/boot. Bought three different boots and this was the one! Good looking, and I didn't have to break it in. I had to order a half size up. The fit was good even with thick hiking socks. Comfortable toe box, shoe strings are a little short, but I have wide feet. I can't wait to use them this winter. I would definitely recommend them and I would buy Keen again.

AWESOME BOOTS! I got these just before going on a week-long trip to do some pretty intense hiking through woods, fields, shoulder high weeds, etc. They held up awesome and my feet never hurt or got wet! I didn't have time to try to break them in and they still did great.

Size matters - I like the look of the shoe and its color, however, those are not the most important reasons people look to buy boots. They obviously have to fit and the size of this shoe is way off base being a full size to a full size and half too small and a little narrower than specified. I read the reviews and even ordered a bigger size (I wear 51/2 shoes and ordered size 61/2 boots and they are still too small.) I really like the arch support and will be returning this boot for a better fitting Keen Targhee Mid II.

Best hiking boots ever - These boots fit great - lots of room for my wide foot - and the lacing system is extremely functional. They also have reflective tape sewn on so are safe at night (I like to walk at night too, in the rural area where I live). I'd say they are worth every dollar, and I will never wear any of my other hiking boots again.

These are the best! I am an avid Internet shopper, but I have never written a review for anything before. I had to comment on these boots. They are fantastic. Right out of the box, I wore them on a hike that was mostly over rock. They clung like glue. They were comfortable---no irritations on my feet. I like the fact that they are light weight. I did have to size up 1/2 size larger than I would ordinarily wear. If you're looking for a comfortable, light weight boot that can take you over most surfaces---these are for you!

Love my Keen's - Finally got a chance to really try out my new Keen's and love them! Went to Yosemite and had them on the entire day and my feet felt great. Good traction on rocks and great support (saved my ankles a few times). Definitely order a half size larger.

Love these! I have been searching for the perfect hiker and these are it! These are light weight and comfortable--I usually wear a 9 and ordered a 1/2 size smaller after reading the reviews and they were correct--the 9 1/2 fit better and I had the perfect amount of toe room for the downhill potions of the hike! I would even wear these backpacking considering I like a lighter weight boot for that!

Couldn't go wrong with this one!! I got this shoe based on the positive reviews that I had read on Zappos and it was no mistake. This boot is ready to go straight out of the box! I went for a 2-hour hike without breaking them in and was not disappointed. Truly a great fit, lots of comfort and attractive. Regarding size: I typically order an 8 1/2 or 9 in footwear; I went with a 9 in this boot to accommodate for a thicker hiking sock.

Love these - I love these hiking boots. They are very comfortable and light weight, not too bulky. They also have a very cool look to them. I do wear a size 8 1/2 and needed a 9 in these.

Great boot. No break in needed and total comfort during 3 day hiking trip. I have wide feet so Keen's fit me well. I agree with other reviewers that Keen's generally requires sizing up a half size.

Love the shoes - They are great! I suffer with plantar fasciitis and these shoes have been the best yet. Keen does a great job and I am glad my sister told me about them.

Great Day Hikers - These are great day hikers in rugged terrain. I even went on a weekend backpack and they protected my feet well with good support and the shoe held its own. The insole is comfortable. Zappos continues to be a reliable e-commerce store with amazing customer service.

I have been buying this particular boot and shoe for years. No break in period and the arch support is great. I hope they continue to offer the Targhee, I always know what I am getting. I can get usually 2 years out of a pair, they don't last forever but are worth it.

The boots were so light. Didn't feel like you had a ton of weights on your feet. The traction was so good that when I walked through a mall with them on (thinking we would go hiking after) they stuck on the marble smooth flooring and down I went! I purchased them for a cruise to South America and by mistake left them on the ship which is now floating the ocean blue.. They are in lost and found and once the ship comes back to our area I will be thrilled to get them back! Until then I will dream of those great boots!

I bought these boots to hike to the Kjeragboltn in Norway and they survived. The hike was not an easy one (going up granite faces, through snow and mud, climbing on rocks) and these were exactly what I needed. I felt they might have been a little too big, but I didn't have enough time to send them back for a smaller size. I came off the hike without any blisters or rubbed spots, which has not been the norm with my previous boots. Love them, and can't wait to get back on the trail!

I bought these for a hiking trip to the Grand Canyon. I normally wear an 8-8.5. First, I ordered the 8...too small. When I tried on the 8.5, they felt perfect. However, while hiking down into the canyon, the temperature rose quite a bit, and as a result my feet started to swell. I ended up with blisters and lost 4 toenails. If I had to do it over again, I would have purchased a 9. Rookie mistake, I know. Other than my own sizing issues, this shoe has solid construction and great support.

I absolutely love these shoes, except for the soft soles. My husband and I have each had two pairs . He walks normal and wears out his soles evenly, but quickly, but I over-pronate and wear out the outer edge of my sole, causing my ankles to roll outward. I have had a pair of Merrells for twice as long, and their Vibram sole has not had this issue. Because of this, with a heavy heart, I am reconsidering Keen. Other than that issue, I absolutely love these boots! I have a wide forefoot and absolutely love their wide toe box. For me there was no break in time required, they are super comfortable right out of the box. They are probably the most comfortable hiking shoes that I have ever owned. They felt like they were made for my feet. I originally wanted the low top version of these shoes, but my heel slipped out so went with the mids and did not experience any slippage. They do run small. I am normally a 7 in dress shoea or 7½ in athletic shoes. I ordered a 7½ in these and they were a little snug, so I went with an 8 and they fit perfectly!

I work at a camp, so I am outside all day every day. These shoes are very comfortable and supportive right out of the box. I did order a half size larger after reading other reviews, and they fit perfectly (although I wear an 8.5 in Merrells and a 9.5 in this shoe). The only issue I've had so far is that some water seems to be leaking in through the toe. My feet stay dry, but if I reach into the shoe I can feel that right up against the toe is wet. Other than the waterproofing issue I wholeheartedly recommend these shoes.

I waited for my review until I hiked enough miles to test these Keen Targhee II mid boots. It's true there is no break-in period needed and that's because these boots are not a stiff backpack style boot, which offers serious ankle support. They are softer and less stiff from the start and that works for me, a hiker carrying only a day pack. Although I do often hike in very rocky areas, and feel there is good ankle protection, but not a lot of firm support from twisting. I usually wear a 9 or 9 1/2 wide in street shoes, and ended up keeping the size 10. Perfect fit with plenty of toe room and width for both a liner and wool hiking sock. On my most recent hike up Mt Marcy NY through lots of mud and very wet areas my feet remained dry. I really like the laces and how they are ridged causing the bow to stick without even having to double knot it. Also I like the topmost lace hook since it's made to lock the lace in place. The only negative is that the insole is not terribly cushioned. Since I have an issue with pain on the bottom of one foot after a couple of miles, I decided to replace the insole with Spenco Total Support insoles before the last big hike, and I was glad I did. I had no foot pain at all on the 15 mile hike. Overall I'm very satisfied and would recommend these if you need a good day hiking boot with plenty of toe room.

These shoes were comfortable and ready to go right out of the box. I have foot issues and was ecstatic to find a good, supportive shoe without complicated lacing options. I would have preferred a metal speed lace, the plastic one is not speedy, but does hold the lace should it untie. I use these for barn work and so far they are holding up to the task and still look and feel good. It's been really hot and humid. I recommend an odor canceling insole for summer use if you live where it's humid. Your friends will compliment these cool-looking shoes.

This is a nice boot. I walked 6 miles on the Chicago streets right out of the box. We've had the wettest April in a decade and these boots were right in it with no problem. These run small. I had to order one size larger than I normally would for these types of boots. Not too heavy either.
