Three weeks in Europe with no blisters!
These shoes are SO comfortable. I must have walked about 8 miles a day for 21 days, almost always in these shoes, and they never let me down. In fact, it still feels good to put them on! They're relatively light, the roomy toe box is awesome, and while they're not sexy, they look fine with jeans, chinos, etc. My boyfriend swears by his Keens, too - we're both in the market for more!
Austin, Boston, it's all Keen...
I have several pairs of keen shoes and sandals. I’ve bought keen shoes and sandals for my family. I’m a Keen fan. I have a comfortable shoe fetish and keens are near the top. Currently they're at the top since Clarks now makes their shoes in China. And while European Caterpillars are good, you can't get them in the states. Keens are an awesome everyday casual shoe.
Most comfortable shoe ever -
I slid my foot into the Austin and thought it was custom formed to my feet! Good arch support for my high arch, big toe box for all five piggies. I'll definitely be buying more of this style. I haven't worn them enough to determine what happens after they are "broken in." They feel already broken in. I suspect I will find I need to order my next pair a half size smaller.
Love this shoe. Trendy and funky enough to get compliments. Rare. (I'm female so most people comment on hot shoes, not practical ones!)
I ordered a pair of Keen sneakers. Very comfortable but doesn't have as much room for the toes. The Austin’s are rather duck-foot looking. Also, there is little if no padding around the ankle. It's not at all uncomfortable but I'm used to walking/running shoes so it was just a surprise.
A loose fit that might work for some people but didn't for me. I liked the footbed. I liked the look. I just didn't like the sense that I could pivot my foot inside the shoe; I have a narrow foot with a high arch. The shoe seemed to be the right size, so I think it's just personal preference. If I hadn't ordered other pairs to try out that I liked better I might have gone with these... I would at least try other styles before giving up on the brand.
I've gotten several compliments on this great shoe and it was my first Zappos experience. I ordered the shoe at 4 PM and had it in my hand when I got home from work the next day. Wow!
The shoe is incredibly comfortable and offers good support throughout. I got the Ember color because it was on sale and love orange and find that it adds nice a nice touch to the shoe. This is my first pair of Keens and I can't wait to get more!
Very comfortable, supportive, and good looking also. Love the wide toebox and super-cushioned insole. Keen is the fit that my foot has been looking for! And Zappos shipping was lightning quick!
Keen Rules Again!
I must say that I am so hard on shoes, and the Keens keep coming back for more. I weigh over 400lbs and I have struggled my whole life to find shoes that give enough support. Well the Keens are amazing; I never have sore feet after wearing my Keens, especially the Austins. They are a great fit. I now own 6 pair of Keens and I am looking as I write this to buy another pair.
I'd also recommend:
The Bronx, Targhee, Newport H2, Ashland cloggs, I can imagine any Keen.
This shoe fits perfectly (order 1/2 size larger than Keen sandal size). No break-in period required--very comfortable and supportive right out of the box. Love the look for work and travel.
Excellent ...as expected from Keen!
I & my family own many pairs of Keens, typically we have worn the Newport H2 variety, but also the Yogui as well as the Targhee; the Austin style was purchased as I thought I was purchasing the Bronx style. Having already read the Bronx reviews, I expected the shoe to run small. When I tried the size 12 it fit just right, so I was very pleased as that is my normal size. Unlike the Bronx this shoe is true to size (at least in the larger sizes). This shoe fits like a glove and requires no break-in.
My boyfriend loves these -
I recently bought these for my boyfriend in the brown with burnt orange trim. He loves them and wears them all the time! They have a very cool, casual, rugged look and feel to them- I would def. recommend them.
Keen Austin "finally a shoe that fits"
As usual I went to a local REI to try these on before I purchased them on the internet and found that they felt for me a little larger than the size indicated. I had a few issues with my right heel rubbing a little (which is quite usual for me, nothing a couple of bandages couldn’t temporarily fix) from the first wear. Maybe after a couple of times walking around the neighborhood they began to loosen up to a perfect fit. At first I was a bit skeptical about the WIDE toe bed, but after you get use to the look the feel is awesome, my toes actually lay naturally as opposed to being all scrunched up. Great shoe, now we’ll see how long they last. If these guys are durable which I have a feeling they are, I have a feeling these will be my new brand of shoe! I would recommend them to everyone and I have! Oh a plug for Zappos, they rock on fast shipping and a quality product!
Perfect fit AND comfort!
The Keen Austin shoes are possibly the best shoes I've ever worn! While the look of a Keen is a bit unconventional (and takes some getting accustomed to), the fit and comfort--all-day comfort!--is unmatched. I attend trade shows for the art materials and hot-rod industries, where you're on your feet ALL DAY EVERYDAY...Keen is NUMBER ONE! I have two pair of the Austins, and FOUR Keen sandals. I just wish they made golf shoes!!! Hopefully soon...are you listening, Keen??
Works for me!
I have narrow, flat feet and wear custom insoles with almost all of my shoes. I however kept the original insoles in the Austin and they work beautifully. These shoes were extremely comfortable right out of the box. Great arch support.
Great shoe -
I just love these shoes. The fit is great, and as soon as you put on the shoe it feels like an old pair of jeans. This is my second pair of Keen's. I've had my first pair for three years and their still going strong. These will be the only shoes I buy. I've even got my mom buying them she loves them too.
Most comfortable shoes I've ever owned.
I typically wear Vans, Docs or Simples, but these Keens are by far the most comfy I've owned. The factory insoles are very springy and supportive. I normally wear a size 15 in most shoes, but the size 14 Austins fit me like a glove. I have a wide foot (about an EE or EEE width) and the large toe box is a welcome accommodation.
Excellent shoes -
These are awesome shoes. Light-weight, comfortable, and good looking, I forget at times I am wearing shoes. Like Keen shoes in general, they are a godsend for those who spend time on their feet.
I have only worn them since receiving them a couple weeks ago. But, I wear them every day all day. They are awesome and comfortable for my, size 13, wide foot. I tend to wear Smartwool socks with medium padding.
I have a confession. I've been ruined by "comfortable right out of the box" shoes. Most of my recent shoe purchases seemed to form directly to my feet and move with me, right out of the box. These.... don't. In fact, these are down right uncomfortable. The shoes showed up on my doorstep the day after I ordered (thanks Zappos) and I popped them on my feet. Immediately I noticed the leather upper is very stiff. So stiff in fact that at first I left the laces a little loose... bad call. They didn't snug up on my feet at all and my heel was bouncing around. Next a cinched them down good and tight. Great, now my foot doesn't slosh around in them. But the leather is so stiff that I can hardly stand it. Imagine wearing a shoe made of wood. That's how stiff they are. The good news is that this is my only complaint. The insole is deliciously comfortable and the rubber sole is tough as nails. Side note, I ordered the chocolate brown and they aren't the rich brown leather shown in the picture. They're a darker, softer brown. I don't mind at all. I've read many of the reviews here that praise the comfort once they're broken in, so I'm going to stick with them and see how things look in a few weeks.
