Better than other thongs - My hopes for this shoe were high because of all of the wonderful reviews I had read. Initially I had some problems getting the straps adjusted to the right comfort level for me. I have a high arch and a high instep, and I found that the straps over my instep hurt if I did have them loose enough. If I made them too loose my foot moved around more than I wanted it to. After I got that all worked out, the sandal was fairly comfortable. The other day I was on my feet all day in them and I found that the sole of foot was in pain. The arch support in these is great though, and I can run and walk with little problem unlike other thong sandals. In sum, I like these shoes, but not as much as I had hoped to.

Great shoe! People comment on these shoes every time I wear them! It took a day or two to get used to the high arch support and to get the straps adjusted right. But great shoe overall. Love the free overnight shipping!

Comfortable - I like the Hipthong a lot. However, thong strap is not adjustable and needs to be a little tighter on my feet. Overall, I love the look and the ease but after owning 5 pairs of Chaco's I think I prefer the Z2 and Z1.

Good Chaco sandals - The sandal had the great support that all Chaco’s have but it is a little hard to keep it on your foot. My foot tends to start slipping out of it no matter how tight I make it or if I loosen up the straps. I own a lot of backless shoes but for some reason these are hard to keep on my foot.

Cute but clunky - This is a really cute and funky sandal. However, I haven't found them as comfortable as other Chaco styles. The skinnier straps are adjustable, so that's good. But the wider strap that goes between the toes isn't adjustable, so it's really loose across the top of my foot and the shoes kind of flop around and drag when I walk. I feel like I'm dragging my feet when I wear them. The length of the shoe is good, so I wouldn't want to get a smaller size. Also, the arch support doesn't seem as high as their other styles (I have pretty high arches), so my feet get sore after about an hour of wearing them. I'll keep wearing them occasionally because they look so cool on, but I'll just know that my feet will be sore if I wear them for any extended amount of time.

More than a standard flip-flop - The arch support on the Chaco Z/Rivative Hipthong sandal cannot be beat. I had some triathletes swear by them at a race and decided to test some Chaco’s out. I like the overall comfort and more secure yet somewhat adjustable fit of this multiple-strap "thong with benefits" - and the colors are really fun. I ordered the purple and turquoise versions and kept the turquoise. For some strange reason, the purple ones seemed tight, although I did love the color! I would love to order other colors but cost is kind of high for a 5-season shoe. As always, Zappos was fantastic with customer service...the best shoe store anywhere, hands down.

I really like the shoe, though it's a bit clunkier than I'd hoped. But practical and very well cushioned.

Hipthong - Caution to half sizers. I usually wear 6.5. The 6 in this shoe was too small and the 7 is bigger than I would like. Nonetheless I kept the 7 because of the amazing arch support. I just wish that I could stop stubbing my toe because of the extra length and also stepping on the excess strap from having them adjusted as tightly as possible.

Cute for narrow feet - These shoes are very cute on a narrow foot (my sister tried them on and they looked adorable) however, I have a wider foot and they made my foot look even bigger and the straps were kind of tight. I don't think a different size would make a difference. But if you have a cute narrow foot, go for it!

Great Shoe But... Over all the arch support and comfort of this shoe is great. Very comfortable, an all day shoe. But...I would just walk right out of it. I expected the top foot bands to keep the shoe on, not the case. My next Chaco's will have a heel strap.

Will buy another pair of these! Owning a pair of the Z/1's, I knew the arch support would be great in the Hipthong just because it was a Chaco. I tried the Zong first, and couldn't keep it from pinching my big toe, so sadly I returned those but got the Hipthong. Awesome. I have plantar fasciitis in my left foot, and my feet love these! I will get another pair in a different color. Seeing they don't make half sizes, my a-little-larger-than 9 size feet needed a 10 and they worked out fine.

Arch support is TOO good - I really wanted to love this shoe. I have worn flip-flops religiously despite shin pain and really low arches. This summer I decided to be practical and at least give my feet some support. The problem for me was that the arch support is really large - high, but also covering a large part of the footbed - such that I was weight-bearing ON the arch. The ball of my foot barely touched the shoe. It's a great shoe, just not for me.

Disappointing fit - Very disappointing--the thong part of the shoe that goes between your toes was bizarrely long, so although the rest of the shoe was comfortable, supportive and adjustable, the entire front of the shoe just flopped around on my foot. Impossible to walk in. I have a pair of the Chaco flips, and I love them. I ordered another pair of the flips through Zappos and ran into the same issue--the thong part was way too long.

Ouch! The webbing that goes between the toes is stiff. I really liked the look of the shoe, but it has to go back. I wore them in the house for about an hour and it was a relief to get them off. I have several other pairs of Chaco’s and like them all (except for these).

They have great arch support, true. But I can't say they are comfortable. Two issues, the upper, made of nylon, is rough enough that after wearing these for a few days (mostly sitting in the car) rubbed the top of my foot until they were sore. This isn't an issue of fit, every place they rubbed was red and irritated. I also don't care for the roughness of the footbed. I read in a review that someone with super sensitive feet didn't like this either. I wasn't concerned because my soles are not sensitive, yet the rough footbed on these is irritating after only a short while. I want to like these more than I really do and I'm terribly disappointed that I'm not in love.

Not comfortable - I had a similar style of Chacos 6 years ago that were very comfortable; I wore them everywhere, everyday. I expected the same kind of comfort with this new style. Not so. I tried hard to keep adjusting them and waiting for them to break in and be comfortable. 3 months later, my feet hurt worse than ever before, and I have to accept that I must give these shoes away and buy new shoes. Very disappointed about the money I wasted on these.

I bought these because Chaco's have a good reputation for comfort and being healthy for your feet. These were a disappointment. They made my feet ache and gave me blisters across the top of my foot.

Not for the big-footed. I have wide, high feet. I could barely get my feet under the straps without pushing. I had to return them immediately, which is depressing for someone who loved the look of the shoe.

Poor comfort - good looks - This shoe has excellent looks and poor comfort. The straps are not placed well and the toe insert between the two is set to high and far from the other straps. My foot often found its way out of the shoe and struggling for grip with my toes. This is the first shoe from Chaco that I have ever been unhappy with.

Chacos has a great reputation, right? I'm disappointed and disillusioned...The top straps are a pain when putting the shoes on, and when I started wearing them on long walks, the side buckle dug into my foot (after breaking them in a while). Plus, the area behind my knee was sore. I don't know if this was caused by poor arch support? They look very cool, but I would opt for some flip-flops from Target over these sandals any day!
