I have been a fan of flip-flops for about 20 years. I normally prefer the Teva models. I tried the Chaco & Chong when they first came out, but I did not like them. The Hipthong have much more substantial soles and, of course, more straps. They are super comfortable if a little heavy. It seems like they will last a long time. I waffled between the 11 and the 12, and finally went with the 11. They fit well.

While these sandals are incredibly tough and sturdy, they are also very heavy. It took several uses before the straps gave a little. At first I thought I had purchased a size too small, but they are now well fitted and have very little chance of sliding off. Weight aside, I'm really happy with the Hipthong.

Hipthong was wearing Chacos, so now I'm back. The sizing is spot on, they are lighter. A very comfortable, well designed, supportive sandal. And of course, Zappos is the only place for sandals. Thanks Zappos.

I still like Chacos, but I liked them even better before they changed the design of the sole. My other 2 pairs were soooo comfortable from day one! These definately need some breaking in. CHACO: Why did you stop making the CHONG ?????? My wife is still wearing hers after 5 years!! I got the Hipthongs to replace mine. Like I said...they\'re very cool...but wish you still made them as comfy as you did! BRING BACK THE CHONG!!!!!!!!

New to Hipthongs -
I have used sandals of this sort for years, but the old brands were not working for me any longer. The Hipthong seems to serve that need well overall. The only complaint I have about it, is that my foot tends to slip back on uphill climbs. Otherwise, it is quite comfortable and functional for my needs, and seems extremely well made.

Breaking in the Chaco's Hipthong -
The Chaco style that I loved has been discontinued to I went with the thong as the next best thing. The break-in process has been long and a bit on the uncomfortable side. I have scars on my feet where the straps caused blisters and then scarred over. The thong has caused the worst blister at the base of my second toe. Honestly, it hasn't been painful - which is probably why I didn't notice the 'damage' until it had scarred over. But they're still Chaco's and the support is fantastic. I guess it might have been good if there were some helpful tips on breaking in the sandal.

Great sandal. No option for customers with wide feet -
I really like this style of style of sandal. Very comfortable. My only complaint is that its width only goes up to "D" (medium). I have a wide foot (14E), and would've enjoyed a wider shoe. I even went to the manufacturer's website. I believe they don't feel it's necessary to accommodate customers with wide feet.

Chaco Hipthong -
These are really neat - they're flip flops with cross straps and these help them to stay on your feet. It's a bit difficult to shove your foot into 'em quickly without aiding the process with your hands in order to get the cross straps sitting just right; also, I can never get my foot forward quite enough to make the right contact and wedge with the toe piece in tight. Still I really like them. Great soles, great look, great concept. Chaco's the company for this kind of thing.

Pretty good...if they fit -
Just got some hipthongs from Zappos. Man their customer service is unrivaled. The hipthong is a good sandal if you have medium width feet and medium to low arches. Not for the high-arched, wide-footed folk...namely me. Super durable construction and resolable. Wish they came in widths and were rewebbable like the Z/1's and Z/2's. Maybe in the future.

OK So I read all the reviews and you must be joking! The fixed strap should be adjustable; it does not allow your foot to go far enough forward. It seemed like your foot went in a little crooked. If you want a sandal buy KEEN! If you want a thong buy TEVA! These are far more comfortable and worth the price. I cannot say the same about these. Love Zappos; think I'm going to get some Salomon amphibians.
