Excellent boot for hiking in moderate cold to warm condition - I purchased this boot for three season hiking plus some moderately cold winter hiking. The boot is excellent; it locks your heel in place and provides excellent support all around making for superior footing in tough situations.

A nice hiker despite clunky look. After the first few miles on their first hike, I knew this boot would be a winner. They have a nice "stride" to them. They "feel" lightweight and nimble despite their somewhat clunky look (probably because of the near-black color. Maybe they'll be offered in a brown color someday. Although they weigh in rather "heavy-ish" they don't feel "heavy". They insulated my feet well from the rocky, rough trail without that cumbersome, clunky boot feel. They have excellent ankle support too. Lacing is excellent, too. Traction is good on wet rocks, not great. They proved their water-proofness in an afternoon thunderstorm. Had some heel blister beginnings on the left foot after mile #7, but replacing that boot to take the pressure off the heel solved the problem. Not cheap, but they perform and act the price.

Awesome boots - I've been wearing Asolos for years, every day, because I need the side support due to very flat feet. This new model is the best yet! No break in time at all, as comfortable as can be from day one. I add arch supports of my own, so I can't comment on the arch supports in the boots. Also, Zappos is the best! Easy to order, and on my feet 2 days later!

Asolo - Superior construction, great fit with the unusual size of 13.5. I didn't know that was the perfect size for me but there you go. Definitely a slimmer fit which is what I need with a 13 narrow foot, and the pulley lacing system is the most incredibly easy system I've ever seen.

Asolo's Power Matic 200 GV - Right out of the box the comfort was great! Very little break in, if any at all. So far, I haven't been able to use them under a load on the trail; however, around town comfort has been superior to any other boot I have worn. I did add a SuperFeet insole for added support.

Ready to go ... I agree with the other reviewers; while these are a bit more expensive than their peers, they are a great pair of hiking boots that justify the higher price. The fit is great, they broke in right away, and most important they make hiking (loaded or unloaded) very easy. They are a narrow shoe; so if you are on the normal to wide side, you might consider going wide. I bought the wide version and they fit my size 14 foot perfectly. My only complaint, if it is one, is that the grips on the bottom are designed for forward motion rather than gripping. In other words, it is a great shoe when hiking defined trails as opposed to a shoe designed for trailblazing.

Boot guy says...two thumbs up!! Not much time to write a review...will say these boots fit awesome. Not many manufacturers have a boot of this weight that requires so little, if any, break-in time. Turning around and buying a second pair soon. The "4" rather than a 5 star on looks...just used to a lighter colored boot but with a fit like this boot (and amazing quality) I'll live with a bit darker boot no problem! Asolo Power Matic 200 GV - Boots were true to size with outstanding support. Comfortable right out of the box with no break-in required. The micro pulley lacing system works great. The powermatic sole works as advertised absorbs shock with good traction. A bit expensive, but worth every penny.

Finally, The Best. I was looking for a black trekking boot for about 2 years now. Well this is not exactly black... but quite close. The Dark graphite color is almost black but now that doesn’t care. These boots are AWSOME, comfortable, good looking not to heavy. If you want a nice shoe to go out and explore, maybe go to work and to be a companion on your trips, this is the one. By far the best boot ever.

Alex46254 - I've had these boots for a week now and I needed them immediately for my hobby, (outdoor photography. Now, we do not have the Sierras here in Indiana but we have miles of trails, some rocky areas and lots of mud, water run-off and general brack to trip through and in the last week I've put these boots through all of it and covered about 20 miles of trail and off trail hiking right out of the box. I also do need to get them ready for my Southwest trip coming soon- Arches National Park, Utah) They were comfortable in the store while wearing them for 20 minutes and I was pretty sold right there. The "pully" lacing system in the lowers is sweet and the hardware is top notch, none of that cheap bent metal for the laces. One other thing I like about these boots is that they are light and narrow vs. the large blocky boots that feel like sandbags. They are strong yet allow me to feel nimble getting up rocky faces and have great traction and good edges. I went from shop to the trails and they were great. Initially I had a little leather binding on my right foot just above the big toe area. However that passed after about the first mile. I got them wet and muddy by mile three and my feet were dry and warm and the boots loved the wet mud and broke in even more and felt great from there out. Once home, I just rinsed them off and let them dry and I have not had any binding problems again. I did about five miles that first day and have done about 15 since then. Another great thing about these boots is the comfort around the ankle, great padding and very nice support forward and side to side for those with weaker ankles. I lace the top a little loose usually just for comfort, but I tightened the heck out of them (like I would for rocky terrain) and they were still comfortable. All in all a great boot and I am not a full grain leather guy. I had a pair of full grain Vasque boots that took forever to break in and they still left my feet sore daily. When I hit camp, I could not wait to get them off. Enjoy, hope my opinion helps. By the way, I ordered several boots from differing makers online trying to find the right boot and sent all 5 pairs back after wearing them in my kitchen. Indiana is not what you would call the hiking boot capital of the world, so it is not easy finding anything great here outside of Timberland:) Take care and happy hiking.

Still Breaking in - I've worn these boots for a few weeks now, and bought them specifically to do hiking on wet, fairly flat, river bank trails. I wore them for a couple of weeks to break them in, and then went on my first 13 mile walk last week. Sadly, the leather above the toe lost its finish within a few days of normal wear (I think I have my feet under my chair when I sit so the top of the toe is touching the floor). But that was cosmetic. Happily, the boot is strong, and fits nicely. The toe is sturdy and the tread is deep. The laces are just fantastic in tightening. I'm looking for an insole after my first walk as the balls of my feet hurt. This is probably due to inadequate breaking in? Size was good, and I have a normal width foot. The color was a little different, but looking back at the image I see why I assumed they would be greyer. I ordered black. Overall nice boot, and glad I forked out this much cash for it. My previous boots were Timberland and Caterpillar.

Great Hiking Boots - Fit is great, if not slightly on the narrow. Took them winter camping recently where it was in the single digits at night. Provided good insulation, and we walked right through a near frozen stream without getting any water - airtight for sure. Took a few days to break in comfortably. Definitely buy a half size larger to fit two pairs of thick socks if you're planning on using in cold weather. Go for wide if you're not sure. All in all a great boot - walked 15 miles in them on my first trip.

Width wise they run about two sizes smaller than stated. While an OK boot, only about one half as good as Outdoor books write them up to be.

I love these boots. I have been wearing Asolo boots for 15+ years and when they stopped making the Sassalong model (full grain leather), I wore their synthetic boots. So, I was happy to find these boots. I've only worn them around town and to the gym, but they feel great. The sole is a bit stiffer than the synthetic Asolo models, which is great. Also, I have high arches, so I replace the liners with Spenco inserts. I also have wide feet and these feel fine when I buy the wide width size. I'm looking forward to having these for years to come. I am looking forward to trying some Zamberlan guide boots once I find them in a wide width.

My Asolo TPS 520's after ten years needed to be replaced. I ordered the Asolo Power Matic 200 GV and felt I now had an even higher quality boot than before. It was immediately comfortable and had great support. The quality of the leather is outstanding and they look great. I will try to get my old Asolo's re soled. Just have not had the time to find a quality repair shop. Also the Zappo's offered 28% off of the new boots so how could I pass that up?

I ordered a pair to try on, didnt keep them. I do love all of the little features these boots come with. They see like good quality, for a work boot. I was looking for hiking boots. I could feel the seem between the insole and the side of the boot that was under the arch of my foot. This probably would have worn in if i kept the boots, but i didnt want to risk it. They are rather heavy for hiking boots too, again, these are probably more geared to work/duty boots. Style isnt great, all black leather will get very hot on long summer day hikes. they are comfortable though, seemingly great ankle support and well padded sole. The little pulleys in the lacing system work well to get a consistent, comfortable fit.

My double socked foot for hiking: 280mm long, 111mm wide, Euro size 44. Boot: US 10.5, Euro 44.5. Length okay, too narrow across my forefoot. One size chart said my foot was an E width, boot is a D. Toe box was cramped. Felt very hard, like tile, under balls of feet. Boot has a slight rocking motion to help roll into the step; I liked that. Lace system has little roller bearings, made for comfy fit across top of foot.

These boots slip onto your feet like they were greased, and one pull on the laces and they are tight, due to the unique rollers in the eyelets. The leather uppers make them a little heavy, but not as heavy as a typical work boot. Very comfortable from the start - no break-in required. I expect them to last a very long time since they appear to be made with loving care, inside and out.

You get what you pay for, and these shoes are, as my kids say, "Awesome". Right out of the box they felt like I had been wearing them for a long time. Beautifully crafted, and with laces that tighten up with one pull, due to the rollers embedded in the lace hooks. The leather is first class, and your foot slips into these boots like it was greased. What more can I say?

Excellent boot. The pulley system allows for great adjustment ability while the upper is locked down and tight. They are stiff to start of. Quickly improve though.

'Best shoes/boots I've ever purchased. For me, the price was well worth the foot comfort, size (half size was spot on), and quality of life. The surface has taken a beating over the years but for the comfort, I have no shame in wearing them to work. Truly an excellent set of boots, if you can stomach the price. Five star, outstanding, no regrets w/ my purchase.
