First let's clarify the sizing issue. Those who say order down 2 full sizes are adult women. For children the size is the same as their US children standard shoe size. So a size 2 kid gets a size 2 "adult" Bloch ballet shoe. Size 4 kid, order size 4. If you're a size 8 adult woman, then order the size 6 or 5.5 as to your preference. That said, I got these in 2 for my daughter who wears a 2 and there is a little wiggle room in the toe - not too much, the perfect amount for a growing foot. When I get bloch ballet slippers for myself I might go down the 2.5 sizes as my feet (hopefully) aren't growing anymore. As for this particular shoe it's great. Feet look great on stage, leather is soft and buttery. Great ballet shoe! And Great customer service Zappos! (I did something dumb with autofill and my CC and live chat customer service helped fix my problem) Thanks for getting my daughter's new shoes here in time for her show after 1 slipper vanished during performance week.

I ordered this shoe in many sizes to try because ballet sizing is so different. I ended up keeping the pair that was a full 3 sizes smaller than my street shoe size (10). A few different sizes fit but because I like my slippers very snug (since they will stretch), I went with a 7A. My feet are not excessively narrow but I did not want any bagging in the toe area since my toes are long and tapered. The 7.5A felt perfect out of the box but I wouldn't have wanted it to stretch more. The widths complicate things since, for example, an 8A feels that same as a 7.5B. And it's hit or miss with the slippers having the pre-sewn elastics. 3 out of 5 pairs that I ordered were pre-sewn; I suspect the others were older stock. I would definitely suggest trying multiple sizes and widths to get the right fit since Zappos has such a great return policy.

We needed a wide shoe. This is wide, but the toe area is boxy. (If your toes are not squared off...of similar length, then you will have lots of extra room around the shorter toes.) Elastic bands across arch must be sewn by hand or via machine.

I need to go down 2 size from my running shoes to have a comfort fit. I also tried 2.5 size down and the shoes were too tight. I hope this helps for those who wear medium width shoes.

Absolutely the best split sole ballet slipper. I wore Bloch split soles my entire career. I took a 17-year break from dancing to have kids, and wasn't sure if I should order the 4. I'm a 7 in a street shoe. I ordered a 4.5 B. I definitely needed a 4, as it's loose on my heel in relief!

These fit perfectly in 1 1/2 to 2 sizes smaller than my normal size. I'm normally an 8 1/2 W or a 9 B and the size 7 fit perfectly. I was just a little disappointed that the the canvas around the arch was not smooth, it bunched up, which is what I thought the hybrid canvas part would solve. I did order the same Prolite slippers in all leather (in the same size as these) and they did not bunch up around the arch, so I'm returning these hybrids and keeping the all leathers.

My daughter's foot fit the Prolite split sole (not the hybrid) before perfectly in the 5.5. However, the Hybrids are about a 1/2 bigger, and the B width is not quite narrow enough for her foot. We kept them, because she will grow into them soon enough. I do plan to order the same ballet flat in a 5 A (width).

The style

I love this shoe and it has a great fit. The sizing runs about 3 sizes smaller than your street shoe. I am so disappointed that the straps came sewn on and were too tight. I had to return because elastic was an inch shorter than my current pair and way to tight.

Per other reviewers we ordered these 2 and 1/2 sizes smaller than my daughter's true size. Her toes just touched the end of the shoe, so she could have worn them at this size but...although both of these shoes were marked D as in wide width, one of them was significantly roomier and wider through the toe box than the other. That one fit, but the narrower one did not fit. Therefore we are returning the shoe and asking for a 1/2 size up in D or wide, hoping this time both shoes will be wide.

I really wish there was a sizing chart available when selecting your size. It has been years since I've purchased ballet slippers and I had forgotten about sizing. I ordered my street size and they were huge. Also, the footbed in the slipper was coming up under my toes. I also did not like that I would have to sew the bands together.

I can not imagine why Zappos would suggest sizing down 3 sizes for these. I did, and they were 3 sizes too small! I know dance shoes fit differently, but this was way off.

Not the traditional leather ballet slipper. My daughters did not like the feel.
