Best approach shoe ever! Just bought a pair before a trip to Yosemite. All of the guides at the YMS wear these. My guide was climbing 5.10b in his!

Great Shoes! These shoes were comfortable from the first time I wore them, that is after I got a pair a half size larger than I normally wear. The soles are nice and grippy, they also leave marks on most floors. Overall great shoes.

This is a really neat looking shoe however, it runs small. I ordered half a size larger than normal and it is very tight in the toe area. At the same time I purchased Merrell Mimosa Lace in the same size. It fits and looks great. These shoes are very light.

These shoes offer the finest combination of light weight and support I\\\'ve ever found. They feel like a pair of socks on my feet and I can walk in them all day without the usual foot fatigue associated with flatter lightweight shoes. I\'m not certain what niche 5.10 is trying to fill, or create, with this shoe. They are like a dress\/casual shoe that you won\'t want to get dirty, equipped with sticky rubber and solid edges for rock scrambling. If you\'re ever at a cocktail party and need to free climb a fifth class wall, these are going to be ideal. By the way, if you have a problem with hot, sweaty feet, these and all of 5.10\'s non-technical shoes are going to melt you.

I would actually give these shoes 4 1/2 stars, but since you can’t, it gets 4. They have been absolutely stellar on the trail, on the rocks, and on the bike. These grip platform pedals like nobody’s business! The laces all the way down to the toe let you get these tightened perfectly so you don’t have one tight spot and another loose spot. One of my favorite things about these shoes is they do not roll around on your foot on off-camber terrain, which instills confidence that you won’t go tumbling down if things go sour. The only thing I don’t like about these shoes is the sole inserts that come with them. They have basically no arch support at all and not enough support to keep your feet from getting uncomfortable. I switched them out with some Superfeet and they are now perfect, but since that is an extra purchase, the original shoe gets knocked a star.

Great for what it was designed, but... This is a great approach shoe, meaning the sole is designed to cling to rock. However, it is not a great everyday wearer. Too slippery on many surfaces like tile or grass. It's a shame because I would wear it ALL the time if it didn't slip.

not bad for the street tack - The stealth rubber is great for out side traction and perfect for wall gripping (as long as its concrete or rock). These things slid all over on painted floors or smooth tile and WATCH OUT THESE ARE MARKING SOLES. over all good.

Overall these are good approach shoes. The part where they excel is the toe section. It's very tight (the way the climbing shoes should be) and it takes some time to break that area in. They also don't look so bad so they can be easily worn as casual shoes. The sole is very sticky which is good, but I wish the "groves" were deeper. The confusing part about these shoes is the mid-to-rear section. Namely, arch support is poor. One could argue that it's not necessary but similar La Sportiva approach shoes offer excellent arch support. Perhaps some insole inserts can fix this problem. Also the heel support is good but not as good as with similar La Sportiva approach shoes. Shoe laces are good but a bit too thick so that a fine adjustment is rather hard. Sole in heel area also appears a bit bulky so that jamming the heel and using it as support during some climbs will be very hard. In short, these are good to very-good but not excellent approach shoes. They climb well due to good front/toe section and they are comfortable for walking but they lack good arch support. Even though they are not on par with La Sportiva approach shoes in terms of technical characteristics, they are definitely better looking.

Don't believe the hype - I've read reviews about this pair of shoe from a couple of websites and all but one reviews were good. I should have taken note of the review that indicated this shoe had problems. The look is great but poor arch support, width ok but the biggest problem (and disappointment) is the sole. I found the soles were quite slippery on all the surfaces I walked on. It has an ok grip on rocks and cement but very slippery on grass etc. Maybe I had a defective pair but I don't recommend buying it unless you are planning on walking on a really, really dry and rugged surface.

Immediate comfort and wearability are the hallmarks of this shoe. I have a pair of the original Five Tennies that are still going strong. This new version is more rugged with rubber toe cap and all around rand protection.

Great pair of very comfortable shoes. In addition I ordered the pair of blue Guide Tennies as well, as I couldn't make up my mind which color to choose. After trying them - I kept both pairs, keep wearing them every day to work. Thanks Zappos!

This is my second pair of these. Super comfortable urban walker. Durable and flexible. Athletic styling may not be for everyone, but I love them.

I bought these for a trip to Europe in the spring. They are so comfortable that I can't resist wearing them now. A great find recommended to me by my daughter and son-in-law, who also own them and gave them the best reviews. I have a wide foot, but they fit just fine. Better color than the white tennis shoes I wear all the time.

Not much of a chance to use these for scrambling belaying yet due to it being winter here. Have worn them on several occasions around town and they feel great. Super sticky C4 soles and a cushy upper around the ankle are a great combo. Excited to try them on dry rock in the spring.

I'm on my 2nd pair, these are my most comfortable, easiest shoes to wear. No break-in period needed, they are ready to go right out if the box. My feet love these minimalist shoes, they stay comfy and dry in them and without any sweating at all throughout the day. I sit, walk, run, hike, bike, play in them, no matter what I do they are always comfortable. These Tennies are well made and last forever but beware - they can mark up a floor quite badly and the soles will wear out way before anything happens to the uppers. They are true to size and true to width and I hope Five Tennies never changes anything about them. In fact I hope they become available in other colors. They are perfect.

I love these shoes, so far the most comfy pair of shoes I have ever bought. They were a little stiff at first but after about a week they were broken in and fit perfectly. The color is not as vibrant in real life but still bright.

Great comfortable shoe out of the box. Excellent arch support. If you tend to wear shoes in full & half sizes, I would suggest getting the half size up since it's pretty firm shoe in toe area. Overall I'm very happy with this shoe.

Nice looking shoe. Very sturdy. I ordered a half size larger because the description said it was recommended. But, the half size larger is a half size too big. So, I should've stuck with the size I normally wear.

These are spectacularly well-made shoes. I have been wearing them (anytime that I am not wearing dressier shoes for work) for about two years now. These are the Leatherman multi-tool of footwear. They just work. They work if you wear jeans, chinos, shorts, hardcore outdoorsy wear, and maybe even hipster nonsense. They work on the street, at a bar, at a game, and on a cliff. They can be resoled for a nominal fee if suction cups passing for soles ever wear completely through (mine still have not). If you could afford only one pair of shoes, these would be a steal at twice the price.

Best shoe for nearly anything. The heel-to-toe lacing means you can adjust the fit very well. I have size ten 6E feet and they accommodated me comfortably. It's worth noting, however, that the rubber is not non-marking, so you have to be careful indoors. Great for climbing, tough hiking, and day-to-day wear.

The break-in period for these shoes was very little - wore them canyoneering practically right out of the box. The approach to the first repel was approximately 3 miles and mostly uphill with some down climbing to the first waterfall. Had no problems sticking to the wet rocks. These shoes made my trip significantly more enjoyable. I had the Five Ten Savant and like these much better.

I wear these daily to work and around the house. Great traction; very comfortable; very good build quality. Like my 5.10 Camp Four shoes, the Guides took little time to break in.

Great shoes. I put a pair of blue Superfeet insert in them then hiked and climbed in the Tetons. Comfortable and no blisters. They stick great on rock.

I like this shoe. But it does have a big weak point. No traction in loose dirt or especially mud. These shoes have very shallow tread. I can't emphasize this point enough. Very shallow. Add to this the fact that you'll wear these treads off the heels and balls of the soles in about 6 weeks of daily wear. I'm talking about walking around town with twin two year olds and boom...no tread left. So if you stay on boulders this won't be an issue. But it you are coming back down the trail after a day of bouldering you won't get any help from these shoes staying upright on steep loose sections, mud or especially snow. So: Very comfortable. Great on rocks. Terrible in dirt, mud and snow. Soles wear very quickly.
