The canvas upper is NOT a BRIGHT white, like the "old school" version - it is a dingier white than the shoelaces AND rubber bottom. I ordered some from Lands End, and sent them back due to the (dis)coloration. Shame on Tretorn!

Quality of the materials are not the same quality of my previous pairs of Tretorn. I have loved this style of Tretorn since they first became famous as the tennis shoes professional players wore. We are talking 45 years of quality shoes. Until now.....

I wore these sneakers a lot in the 1980s and loved them. This new "Tretorn" may look like the sneaker from the 80s but "appearance" and certainly not fit is the only way that the new sneaker resembles the original. This model lacks the wonderful padding and support; the fabric is cheap and flimsy and there is little foot support, in my opinion. Prediction: if the company produced an actual quality duplicate of the original at a more premium price, its loyal customers would line up in droves!

Alas, Tretorns will never be same again. Certainly looked like the usual in the photo, but upon receipt, I was extremely disappointed in the quality. No cushioning whatsoever anymore; felt just like a Keds pair of sneaker. Very comfortable and lightweight, but I have little hope they\'ll stand up to the years of rough wear and washing that I\'m used to getting from Tretorns. Another classic bites the dust.

What's up with Tretorn? I've been wearing them since I was 16, now 59. These latest sneakers are very cheap and flimsy; also ill fitting. They're very tight and narrow in the toe. I have to buy a size 8 1/2 instead of 8 for the toe to fit and the shoe is too big for me. I have about 10 pairs of brand new size 8's of the good kind that I can't wear because of the toe problem. These are not inexpensive shoes. What happened to the quality? Maybe they need to go back to making them in Sweden.

You are right! These are completely different from the Tretorns you could get a couple years ago. Those were called Gullwing, sometimes retailers call the new one Gullwing, but they aren't. Anyway, they had more padding around the outside of the shoe and on the tongue. Much better quality, but Tretorn does not seem to make them anymore. I am so sad. Amazon.com has a couple in white. With navy in sizes 10 and 11, but nothing in smaller sizes. Oh well.

Disappointed -
Having worn my old Tretorns for at least 5 years I ordered new ones recently. The original shoes were great - I have bad knees and because they were soft and cushy they did not cause knee discomfort. However, the original shoes I own were made in the Philippines - comfortable and light.
As soon as I pulled the new ones out of the box I knew they were NOT the same. The new ones were made in CHINA - they were hard, uncomfortable and felt cheap. I immediately sent them back. I will now have to look for another brand. Such a major disappointment that to me Tretorn will no longer mean comfort.
