Pleased in Pennsylvania - I recently purchased a pair of Tretorn Tennis Shoes for a friend for their birthday. My friend was extremely pleased with the gift stating that the tennis shoe was made with quality materials and also offered a great comfort. I would highly recommend purchasing a pair of Tretorn Shoes for family members and/or friends.

Just like the good old days. These are the shoes my mom wouldn't buy me in the '70s - finally I've got them! They're comfy and have more support than Keds, but still not a lot. Definitely canvas-color, not bleached bright white. They're lightweight and really hug your foot.

Very cute shoe and comfy. As everyone else has said, not the same as years ago but still very preppy and comfortable. Ran true to size for me.

I wore Tretorn's in high school and college. Always a classic shoe. Looks better than a regular sneaker. Noticed the shoe laces aren't as beefy as they once were, tho they are fine. My kids like some styles of Tretorn's now. They say they are cool and just a little different.

Runs small, otherwise fine sneakers - I had heard that Tretorns were now running small, so I ordered a 9B. I used to get them in 8 1/2 B. The 9 is about 1/2" shorter and narrower than my old 8 1/2s. They just barely fit. Otherwise, it is the same great Tretorn sneaker.

This is another one of those sneakers or shoes that look nice in a smaller size. I liked the fact that they were very light, and canvas...but in my size of 9.5, they looked really chunky and cumbersome. There is barely any arch support, and if you have a large, semi-wide foot like I do...it tends to spill over on the sides...and it just looks bad because there is not much support on the sides. I unfortunately had to return them.

Tretorn Nylite canvas - Very attractive shoe, but a little narrower across the top than most athletic shoes, which causes the laces to gap on me.

Comfy and Cute - Was surprised how instantly comfortable these shoes are. I was looking for something with good support, but cute, too. This works for me.

NOT the original - Looks like the original, but feels like a stiff pair of Keds with a slight bit of cushion. No way can these compare to the Tretorns that were made in the 80's (when I last wore them). I definitely wear an 8.5 and perhaps larger, but I ordered the 8 and I'm glad I did. These shoes are l-o-n-g. Although not nearly as cushy I am keeping them because I like the way they look.

Tretorn’s forever! Tretorn’s were my favorite shoe when I was a kid. I had to have them in every color. I was so happy to see that they were available again. They are just as great as I remember and I think I will have to buy additional colors. They are just a little bit stiff across the top when you first wear them but they break in quickly.

Love the preppy look of when I was growing up! We wore these in elementary school (now I am dating myself) with little pom pom socks...so glad to see them come back!!

I used to wear these back in high school in the '80s and in a nostalgic moment I ordered a pair! Size-wise they ran just the tiniest bit small. I used to wear a 9 back then but my toes were right up to the end in these. Definitely no room for any type of socks. My feet may well have become a little larger over the years but I suspect a 9 1/2 would be slightly too big. Width was okay and even while trying on they started to feel more comfortable in the few minutes I had them on. They don't seem as comfy as I remember, as someone else mentioned they used to be terry lined and now it's just cheaper thinner material. Style still looked nice on the foot, just unfortunate that so many companies have gone to making cheaper quality items over the years.

Poor workmanship on the inside. Inside not as soft/cushiony as the old model. Outside looks the same.

I had a pair of these about 25 years ago and wore them to death. These are a pale imitation: canvas is on the insubstantial side and no cushioning in the heel collar. This used to be one sturdy sneaker--I don't know how long the current incarnation would survive the wash and dry cycles, which is one of the selling points of canvas sneakers. Returned these pretty sneakers, because that's really all they are. Pretty. Still a huge Zappos fan, though.

I grew up wearing Tretorn Nylites, and so I was very excited about my purchase. Though I do like the overall look of the shoe, I was a bit disappointed that the quality of the fabric isn't the same as I remembered. It isn't as thick as it used to be. And it's not padded inside, so it's not super comfortable.

Anonymous from New Jersey - This is no where near as comfortable as the "old Tretorn." They cut me right across the top of my foot where the laces start. I thought they would give with wear but they haven't. If I hadn't of worn them outside I would send them back.

Disappointed in CT - Have worn canvas Tretorns since the 70's and loved them. The shape of the new shoes I recently purchased does not fit my feet as well as the ones did. Very disappointing.

These are no longer anything special. As others have said, if you have the older version with great padding, the newer version will be very disappointing. They are now just basic canvass shoes that are not worth the high cost.

The tongue of the shoe was poorly sewn and rubs on the top of my foot. The metal grommets are not coated on the inside of the shoes and leave black marks on the shoelaces, tongue, and on my foot. I've bought these shoes before and the quality has gone way down.

Disappointed - Last year I ordered a pair of these shoes size 51/2 and they fit. A few months ago I ordered another pair, same size, and they do not fit. They are at least 1/2 size larger. Will you ever have a size 5? I have tried to wear these shoes in the house, but I cannot. I will be returning them. Betty M

I miss my old Tretorn's. My old ones were soft and cushiony. Theses were not. They also rubbed across the tops of my feet. I wanted to love them, but I have to return them.

I have worn these shoes for 30 years like most of the reviewers... They have gone downhill. They are now made overseas (my 10 year old ones were made in the Philippines) and are NOWHERE near as comfortable as they used to be. Sad because they were solo comfortable before and now … well ... I sent them back … sad, sad, and sad.

Since I wore these growing up, and loved them even into early adulthood, I've been buying them for my ten year old daughter. They add a classic touch to a school uniform that you can't spruce up much. I reordered my first pair in about 15 years, and received them today. I was severely disappointed at the lack of quality and the cheap appearance. They fit smaller as well. I had read the same complaints before ordering, but because my daughter's pair had been exactly as I'd remembered, I chose to order anyway. The terry cloth lining is gone. There is no cushion, and the shoestrings were cheap and too short. The color was a dingy white, as well. Worse than being disappointed, I'm sad. Seeing my daughter wear hers brings back many fond memories. I seriously doubt anyone will wear these as religiously as I did for any length of time. They are terrible! Tretorn should be ashamed!!!

Not the Tretorn I remember - These Tretorn’s are very uncomfortable. They seem bigger than size 9. And there is a big bump that rides over my toes. Very bummed!

Foot winked in MA - I have been wearing Tretorns for over 30 years and these certainly don't feel or look like any Tretorns I've ever had in the past. They are extremely stiff and very uncomfortable. As far as I'm concerned they are unwearable. They really don't feel or look like the real thing.
