I was looking for a shoe to wear with my orthotics that didn't look too "athletic" and was at least passably stylish. Looked online to see if people had been able to fit orthotics into Converse shoes, which many said that they had done successfully. Since my shoes arrived an hour or so ago, I have determined that it is possible, but difficult. The back half of the inserts that came in the shoes came out easily, but we had to pry the front halves away with a knife. That being said, once the insoles had been removed and the orthotics put in, these became the best shoes ever. They do fit orthotics easily once insoles have been removed. They are extremely comfortable with the insoles in place, and they are very stylish, unlike most shoes that accommodate orthotics. I did go down a half size as other reviewers had recommended (and despite the orthotics). I usually wear a 9.5, but I ordered these in a 9 and they fit perfectly. I love the black leather (as opposed to canvas); slightly dressier and much better insulated for winter wear. Well worth the extra money. Zappos is wonderful. I ordered these shoes a mere 21 hours before they arrived at my door. I received an e-mail shortly after placing my order stating that my shipping had been upgraded free of charge, which I greatly appreciated. The perfect shoes. Exactly what I was looking for, well-priced, and arrived insanely quickly. I couldn't be happier.
