This is a great shoe. I think this is supposed to be a running shoe, but I first bought these to walk on the hot summer streets of New York City. They have great support and the sole is great for walking on hard, hot surfaces. I always have a pair in my closet ready to go.

Great Shoe - Great Service - I picked these because I wanted a mostly gray colored sneaker without any wild designs or psychedelic colors. They also happen to be a very comfortable and sturdy shoe for walking. My first pair didn't fit, so I called and had a new pair the next day. Can't beat that for service.

My "go to" shoes! These shoes are made in America! Not only are they fabulously supportive but they are stylish and classic! They are so versatile- I purchased these for my upcoming trip to Europe because I can go running in them or just walk around the city for hours in total comfort. You can custom fit them to your needs because they come in different widths and New Balance sells a variety of AMAZING insoles for all kinds of foot types! I highly recommend spending the money on the insoles to get the absolute MOST out of these already awesome shoes. They will last forever. I wore my last pair for 10 years!

Spectacular!!! I love these shoes! Very comfortable and I work a job where I'm on my feet all day running around on concrete floors. The look is great, not too space-like or sporty, more casual shoe-look. The toe space is great, never feels cramped. Your feet can really breathe and spread.

New Balance - The shoe fits perfectly. I have plantar fasciitis and healing from sprained ankle. This shoe gives me nice ankle support and the arch support feels really good. New balance has always been one of my favorites, but this one is definitely one of the better ones.

Good shoe for pronators and wide feet - Based on reading reviewers comments on this shoe, I ordered a pair and 24 hours later, they were delivered. Very happy with the shoes. Work well for my flat, wide feet. Service as always is first rate. I highly recommend them!

The best running shoe ever! I have been running for more years than I care to name and after trying out a number of different brands and types of shoes, this shoe is by far the best! It is like running on a cloud with great support. I replace my shoe every 6 months and plan to continue purchasing this brand and style. The 992 is an improvement over the 991 (earlier brand) if it is possible to improve upon this great running shoe. Thanks New Balance! And, Zappos service is outstanding. Thank you!

ONE OF THE BEST NEW BALANCE SHOES - These shoes are GREAT!! I walk everyday on the treadmill for 20 minutes and these shoes feel like you are walking on air they make you want to walk even faster. My husband thought they looked so great so he got a pair in he men's style and loves them too.

Comfortable fit - This was a slightly more expensive NB shoe than I usually purchase. NB insoles are removable and I replace them with my custom orthopedic inserts. This shoe appears to have a more rounded toe with better space. I have very narrow feet, and I wear two prs. of socks for a great fit. Well built, sturdy shoe.

Happy with the W992 - I bought it because of the advertised ankle support since I have a tendency to pronate... or is it supination? (I know I "tilt" sideways... and this shoe lives up to its advertising...)

Excellent shoe - I suffer from plantar fasciitis in both feet and need heel and arch inserts always. This shoe accommodates inserts well, even in a narrow width. The toe box is excellent - plenty of room. I wear them nearly every day.

Missing the 991 - I have been a fan of the New Balance W991 for many years, so I was truly disappointed to learn that the 991 was phased out. I'm still getting used to the 992s, but it does have great support and a nice look to it. The 992s are certainly larger than the 991s and I had to exchange my original order for a half size down. Zappos was great about the exchange. I think I'll end up really liking the 992s, but I'm still breaking them in.

Perfect! I LOVE these shoes! I put them on right away, and wore them all day. No need to break these in at all. VERY comfortable. I will definitely buy these again!

Just what I was looking for. The shoes fit very well. I have very narrow and hard to fit feet, and these shoes fit the bill. I use a walker and like to keep on the go a lot, and am very happy to find a shoe that helps me not only keep my balance but feels good even at the end of the day. I like the color {white/light blue} that I purchased.

Runnin’ through my day - I have had surgery on my feet twice for bunions and broke a bone twice in my left foot within the course of five years. Needless to say, I am very careful with my tooties at this point of my life and these sneakers are very comfortable. I have a high inset in my foot and a wide foot after having my two children and these sneakers were comfortable to wear from day one. I would recommend them to any on the go mom.

Great Sneakers - New Balance - I only buy and wear New Balance Athletic Shoes. However, due to their discontinuing my favorite one, I actually may have to go to another manufacturer - I am not happy about that, but W992 is a GREAT shoe.

Amazing! These are the uber-squishiest, most awesomely comfortable tennies I've ever had the pleasure of owning. Amazing!

Best shoe for walking. I know this is a running shoe but I use it for walking since I have tarsal tunnel there are not very many shoes I can wear it keeps my ankle very stable very roomy in the toe bed and lots of room for feet swelling. Love the looks, had to go down a size and I also ordered a wide with because I have a tendency for feet swelling. I'd highly recommend this shoe.

Comfort, comfort, comfort... I have been a New Balance fan for years! I have short/wide feet. I used previous reviews to gauge what size to get. I can wear a 61/2 C or 7B, depending on the style. I chose the 7B. It fit perfect! This model gets the award for comfort. I'm very active and on my feet all day. I was having problems with the balls of my feet. These sneakers were the answer! I won't buy any other style again. Hope they never change it :)

Comfortable - I have tendonitis in the area between my small toe and my heel. As soon as I put these shoes on, my feet feel really good. I bought these shoes in wide because I usually wear a wide, but this shoe seems to run a lot larger than the others. I had to return it for an exchange.

Great shoe, unbelievable service from Zappos - I ordered this shoe at 11 p.m. on a Sunday, got an email before 9 a.m. Monday that it would ship that day, and got it before noon on Tuesday. I'm really amazed and impressed with Zappos, even after hearing so many good things! I've only had the shoe for a few hours but am very happy so far. It looks great and is extremely comfortable, though maybe a tiny bit too large (though that of course leaves room for thicker socks, so I don't mind that at all and consider the fit true to size as it's not THAT loose on my foot). Feels great and doesn't seem like it will need a lot of breaking in. I'm extremely happy both with the shoes and Zappos' service.

Thrilled with this shoe - I must preface my review by saying that I have incredibly fussy and hard-to-please feet. I have usually a C/D width and am also cursed with bunions. I've developed a new pain in my feet that has halted my workouts; hence my need for new shoes. These weren't my first choice as I don't think they are the most attractive shoe, however they provide what I need them to and I can overlook that one shortcoming. They aren't bad, just not as fashionable as many other athletic shoes out there. It does not look like an orthopedic shoe. I bought the grey, which looks better in person. I also tried the navy in a different size. It was a bit more masculine looking than I preferred. They are true to size and width and have excellent arch support. One might need to go up a size for orthotics. I appreciate the fact that I don't need to invest in a separate (and costly) insert to make this shoe have sufficient arch support and comfort. It feels like a significant and substantial shoe without the bulk. Great stability. I can feel the mechanics of the shoe doing their proper job in the shoe. It took a few tries, but my feet are thrilled with this shoe.

New Balance W992 - Overall great shoes. I work out every day and need shoes that I can depend on. They are soft and have a good cushion but still have strong support. Also, they are made in the USA, a very nice feature.

Overall: I am using these as work shoes. I'm on my feet all day and the shoes I had prior to these left my feet in pain that would last for days. My feet don't hurt any more after wearing these for a few weeks. Comfort: I purchased these in a wider width (just a step up from the average fit) and the shooting pain I'd had in the ball of my left foot has completely disappeared. I don't have any additional inserts, but I am thinking of getting some heel gels at a drug store as the padding the in the heel after a long day isn't squishy enough. Look: I thought they were fairly ugly online, but in person have been pleasantly surprised. They look nice with jeans and I've gotten a few compliments on them. (I ordered the black/gray color).

Great with AFO - After surviving a stroke it was difficult to find a tennis shoe that would comfortably accommodate both my foot and AFO. At the suggestion of a therapist we tried New Balance this model in particular. With a wider and higher toe box. The first pair worked so well that I now own a second pair!
