Weird fit - W992 doesn't fit or feel like a walking or fitness shoe (at least, not for woman.) W992 falls into the Propet category of stiff, rigid construction, the construction is very lacking of contours. This is a category of shoes that seems to be made to fit a foot that is always swollen or is a prosthetic foot, very much like Propet brand. No shape or contours. I am fussy about toe-room, but this feels like a big rigid round-box around the toe. Very weird. More and more shoes are doing this. These are going back. The style is perfect for a man with swollen feet, who likes traditional style shoes that look like a fitness shoe. I can not imagine this fitting a woman. (PS the arch is absolutely flat. It seems to be designed especially for those who require an orthotic.) {I am keeping the W767A, much more fitting.}

If you *like* this, try Propet, the brand.

Just not quite right - I saw these shoes on Zappos and read the reviews. Since I have foot troubles too, I thought I'd buy them. They arrived quickly-great service Zappos-and I immediately tried them on. At first they felt like heaven, but then I started walking around in them and I discovered, my heel slipped. Since then I keep trying to find something that would keep them slipping and so far I haven't found it. I'd send them back, but I've already worn them. I am seeing my podiatrist tomorrow and maybe he'll have some ideas.

Comfy sole, but too big - I really like the sole, but the shoe is too long and not as attractive as other New Balance shoes I own.

992's are good but not necessarily better than 991's - I was an avid 991 fan, I have long narrow feet (11 N) in regular shoes, but in 991's I wore the 12 narrow. So that is what I ordered for the 992's but they are definitely not as narrow as the 991's and I believe longer, too. Zappos to the rescue, customer service is great and so now I am waiting for my 992's in the 11 narrow to arrive, I am hoping they won't be too short. On the plus side, every Doctor and Physical Therapist I see tells me these shoes are just what I need, pronation control, and lots of padding, decent arch support. And, I agree with all of that, if you can get them in the right size, they are perfect, very lightweight, too!

NB 992 - I really prefer NB 991 but can't get it any more. My foot is long and narrow and I usually wear a size 11N in NBs. The shoe is okay since I haven't found anything else.

This shoe feels and looks more like a walking shoe than a running shoe. I'll be curious to see how long the tread holds up. I don't think I'd buy it again unless it was just for walking.

Second Best - These are good shoes but for the millions of W991 fans like myself they are not as comfortable - they are stiffer and less flexible and are cut wider, not a good thing for the millions with narrow feet who consistently turn to New Balance as one of the few manufacturers of narrow shoes. We have enough shoes on the market for people with fat feet. They should have held true to their old sizing.

The shoe is very comfortable and runs true to size, however, it is very heavy. I prefer a much lighter running or walking shoe.

Trying in vain to replace my New Balance 1003 shoes, which offer much more support. My heel slips in this one, though not seriously, just enough to notice and find a bit annoying. But I can wear them for an entire day and walk in them quite comfortably.

Not as good as W991 - I thought these would be the same shoe as the W991, but they are not.

This is not the shoe for you if you have a narrow heel. The medium widths had plenty of room in the toe box for me (even with the bunion on my left foot), however my heel would not stay in place no matter how many different ways I tied the laces. They were just unbearable to run in for more than 5 minutes, which is unfortunate because I really wanted these to be the fit I was looking for, especially with all the cushioning throughout. I almost kept them anyway, thinking I'd just use them for casual wear rather than running because I do like the gray/monotone look. But to my dismay, I soon found out that even normal wear was making my feet hurt, and I felt an odd pain in my heel that I never felt before. Oh well, I found a pair of Nike LunarTrainers off Zappos that are just absolutely perfect for my feet, and it was just a matter of finding the right fit. I can see where the NB W992s work for some, but just not for me.

New Balance W992 - I had just begun a rigorous walking workout that involves a 5 to 6 mile walk on pavement, much of which is uphill. I bought these shoes based upon the reviews on your site. Around the house and town they are fine. However, when I wore them on my walk I found them extremely uncomfortable. I gave them a few tries, thinking I needed to get used to them but I have now retired them completely. A walk that was enjoyable became very painful, the shoes were a deterrent. Not a good fit at all. Very hesitant to purchase a shoe that I can not try on beforehand again.

When I got the 992 I found them to be too large (needed a size down) and not as comfortable for me as the 991. I am still searching for a style of NB as good as the 991. I too am surprised at the number of good reviews of this shoe and it is NOT just an upgrade of the 991. The fit is entirely different. I wear orthotics and they fit into the 991 perfectly.

I'm surprised by the high ratings on this shoe. The arch support isn't great (I have high arches, and they don't support the foot very well). My feet and ankles are hurting so much from running in these that I'm going to have to stop wearing them. After spending $125, that's no small deal.

Too wide - I wear 11 AA and with an orthotic wear a 12 AA in the 992. However, the 992 is too wide, particularly in the heel.

New Balance W992 - I have ran in many New Balance style of shoes. Unfortunately, this is the most uncomfortable shoe I have ever run in. Very unlike previous New Balance shoes.
