Good shoe -
Comfortable and stylish. It's marked as a tennis shoe, but I use it for walking. It feels wider than I have found in other New Balance.

Racquetball -
Good comfortable shoe that perfoms really well on wood racquetball courts.

If you have a wide forefoot, this may work for you...
I have worn many different NB 4E tennis shoes made on the A1 last for a long time, and the shoes have always been too narrow up front. The CT 653 is made on a different last, and it is wider in the forefoot, which I so desperately need. The fit is still a bit snug, but I don't think I need to use a shoe stretcher on it, as I normally did with the other NB tennis shoes. I just hope NB makes more models using this last.

Solid and Good Looking!
New Balance makes great shoes and this one is no exception. On my foot it feels slightly smaller than some other New Balance shoes I've had and also slightly narrower, but not enough to be uncomfortable.

Zappos, as usual was prompt and excellent in customer service. The shoes are true to size, well built, what I am looking for. The wider toe box is great for me.

Good Shoe for the Money -
The CT653 fits as good as most New Balance shoes and is true to size. They feel substantial, but arch support is less than I would have liked.

I was really surprised that this shoe did not fit properly. There is very little room in the toe box, so beware!

Other New Balances are better -
Got a bone bruise on the bottom of my foot about 2 weeks after I started using them. Foot cushioning in the mid-sole just doesn't feel that good.

Fair -
The fit is smaller than advertised, the toe cap catches my toe nail and lifts if off!
Also very heavy for tennis...almost too heavy...

It'll do -
Photos give the impression that the sole is gum. The product I received did NOT have gum soles. That was/is a disappointment. The shoe also has no internal arch support, nor does it come with an insert (as other models in past have). Otherwise it appears to be okay.
