Vans Half Cab - Ok Vans, what's up? This is my fourth pair of Half Cabs and I just got them today, but when I got them, I noticed that they have changed the design. The tongue on them are a lot more flimsy and not as thick as on the previous model. Also, the heel on the shoes are a lot more thick and stiff. The stitches on the toe of the shoe sit a lot higher than my last pair and the toe on them come to more of a point. The only new thing I like about the design is that the heel is thicker so there is more support, but other than that, I’m mad about the new design. These are my favorite shoes and I don't understand why they would change the design on them. They are classics, but I’ll take what I can get. It seems like these are a little more bulky than the last pair, so they might last a little longer.

THESE SHOES DO NOT LAST! I saw a lot of people skating in these in '06 so I got myself a pair to see what all the fuss was about. These shoes are ready to skate out of the box, which I love in skate shoes. But what no one told me was how mushy these shoes get after 3 or 4 sessions. It's true the sole is too thin, so I put in some extra insoles to make them more durable, big mistake, the elevation makes the shoe come off easily while skating. These are definitely not worth the $ to skate in. A chill shoe at best.

i wear a size 8 in these, like most vans. have a EEE wide foot so most vans dont fit. these do and are comfortable in a size with very little extra room length wise, for a good fit. they stay on your feet, even barely laced up and easy to put on that way, unlike most vans. its a great shoe and i'm glad they still make them. they are, however, a very puffy style 90s skate shoe... which isnt really in style right now... but its a classic. its one of the few vans shoes i can wear, next to the regular slip on and old skool pro(which has a really sloppy fit)... as vans tends to cater to narrow womens feet with almost all their shoes. the slip on is also good for really wide feet. the navy is also black, which i like because zappos doesnt have the black in my size... but i ALWAYS buy shoes from strictly zappos dispite not having a color i like. been a customer since the very beginning (like 15 years now) and has the best customer service over any business i have ever dealt with, which has made me a life long customer. they are very patient and forgiving with returns. and even wrote me a hand written "thank you for being a customer" letter at one point after i called to cancel an order.

I had these almost 20 years ago. Great shoe, a true skate classic...start out a little narrow but once they break in they fit great.

Enjoy the Pursuit - I wear a size ten in almost every type of shoe, be it a dress shoe, sandal, sneaker, etc. However, I ordered the Half Cab a half size smaller than normal and it fits very well. I have skated in the shoes for about three weeks. At first I had a hard time getting used to all the space in the toes and it took three days of moderate skating to break the shoes in. The sole is wearing well and a little quickly but of course scraping and rubbing sandpaper into the rubber sole and suede vamp will certainly deteriorate any shoe. The insoles are not very supportive and I read recently that Vans is planning on releasing a Half Cab with more support in the next year. For skating these shoes are great, but if you plan on just buying these to 'kick it' or use them for walking please rethink this decision.

Vans waffle soles are the best soles for skateboarding... ...and the high top supports the ankle. Down with the old school? Learn frontside rock'n'rolls!!!

Fantastic shoe, but only good for two sessions. This shoe is all about the look, the feel, and the grip--and in those categories, this shoe is one of the best (it's proven that by sticking around for so long). But their durability is pathetic. I got about two good sessions out of mine and by then the cushioning was sunk down and the suede was stretched out. Cushioning-wise, I had to wear an extra insole in them--don't jump down stairs and gaps in these shoes unless you're a teenager or a total nutcase. Another big problem with half-cabs is ventilation. If your feet sweat a lot don't get them! There are no airholes for breathability. Still, I have to admit, I want another pair....... how's that for hypocrisy? There’s just something about them.... aaagh!!!! Oh yeah, my foot measures a 10, and I bought 9.5s. I think I could even have gone with a 9, especially considering how much they stretched out.

Half way - I saw the half cab and really liked the look but even though I tried 2 different sizes...they don't fit very well and are not at all comfortable. This shoe has no arch support but I really enjoyed working with the the people at zappos.

Awesome shoes. i was skeptical to buy from here since i never have, but dang are these some good shoes. don’t tie it too tight, only very very loose or else it’ll be EXTREMELY uncomfortable and it’ll hurt really bad. they look so so so good and i get so many compliments. Oh and the navy is very dark looks almost black which is exactly what i hoped for:)

Buy these regular when my size is available.

I felt they were just what I wanted. I love the half cab style.

Very pleased. I easily got them on unlike some other styles that were hard to get on. They are unique . Very comfortable.

Good shoe. Little big. No arch support. But comfy still. Good for skating.

These half cabs are awesome. Beautiful navy blue color, with contrasting thick white laces, super comfortable, and very stylish. I'm in love with them. So in love, I'm going to buy a little nail brush to keep the white part of the sole looking new with a little soapy water. And, they're not going to be an everyday shoe. (No, I'm not using them to skate - I'm using them to keep this old fart lookin' cool.) I would highly recommend. My last pair of Vans were grey high tops. They started tearing at the seams around the toes quickly. I was a little disappointed because like I said, I'm no longer a skater and I wasn't wearing them every day. I am hoping this pair holds up longer. I'm a native SoCal guy whose been wearing Vans since 1972. I've never fallen out of love with this brand.

Zappos is simply great! Free shipping and free return shipping. I bought 3 pairs of sneakers and ordered the wrong size. Zappos accepted my return and sent me the right size. It was my mistake and they didn't charge me for any of the return shipping. I would definately recommend Zapppos and shop with them again.

These shoes fit true to size. They are comfortable and durable. You cannot go wrong with these shoes. I would buy them again. And Zappos is the best online!

Best shoe I've skated in yet. My foot is wide and it barely fit in Nike SB Janoskis and my feet would squish out the sides. No big deal though. But this is my favorite shoe I've skated in yet. Pros: -good sizing -breaks in in like a day -strong material -the shoes been around since 1992. Cons: -The insole, It's annoying to take out because its glued into the shoe. Be careful taking it out because you might rip the insole. Also Be careful of the custom insole you put in it might be too thin. I wish there were more size 14, 15 colorways.

My favorite skate shoe! Great design and style. The outer is a tough suede, and has held up to abrasion so far. Vans makes my favorite sole of any skate shoe, very grippy. I judge all other soles by Vans's design. There is a solid amount of cushion on the tongue and around the ankle, but it's not poofy like some DC shoes or Oasis shoes. Lots of flexibility still, which I really like. The insole is the cushiest of any skate shoe I've bought. I still buy a Dr. Scholl's insert to avoid heel bruising, but for just wearing around town, you shouldn't need an insert. Again, these are my favorite shoes to skate in.

I love these shoes. They are great for skating and even just walking around in. They ride a little higher that your typical skate shoe, but that's exactly what I was looking for. They give a lot more support around your ankle.

Bought these for my husband. He's hard on his shoes as an old school freestyler. He feels the stitching on the toes holds up longer rather than the models that are glued on. Plus our son (2 years) had matching ones.

I work in the construction industry, and The Vans Half Cab is a really great shoe for work because it's comfortable all day, and it is flexible and thin so you can feel what's ever under your feet. I did have to put in an insole for just a little more cushion. They look great! Have that cool skateboard casual look.

These are decent looking shoes, but the sort of halfway-hightop is a little odd. I definitely got these for the name and retro cred. My only real issue with these shoes is that the tongue continually slip to the outside. That is pretty typical of sneakers, but it is a bit annoying regardless.
