I bought these hoping that they would have the cool comfort I found with Clark shoe Wallabee Boot but it didn't really work out so I'm sending them back. I can't really comment on the comfort since I didn't give them a real try-out but I wasn't happy with the style. The toe was too rounded for me and so the shoe has a bulky look. I ordered the desert boot instead and hope that gives me the look I prefer.

I had a pair of these in college years ago and loved them, so was quite excited to come across them here. Sadly, they are not what I remember them to be. There is no arch support in these whatsoever. They are quite narrow, and they are very shallow top to bottom. They're cute to look at, so for style I gave them a 4, but I can't wear them, and knew it the minute I put them on. Back to Zappos they go!

I absolutely love these shoes. I buy a new pair every year and wear them everywhere. I have gotten countless compliments on them. The little backpacker printed on the back of the heel is a great artistic touch. If I could own just one pair of shoes, these would be it. I usually wear a size 7.5 but these shoes seem to run big and a 6.5 (while starting out a little tight) stretches out to fit my feet in a couple weeks. I bought a pair of these shoes for my sister because she liked them so much! I highly recommend them.

These are comfortable, rugged, and wonderful to wear. I love my Clarks Desert Trek. The size (mine is a 7½) is perfect and my normal size) the style reminds me of classic old times with a twist of modern and the material is genuine and handsome. A true original - and not my last pair - for sure. These are great shoes at a great price! One day of break in - and I have hardly worn other shoes since I bought these ones.

These shoes are so comfortable. I wish I could buy them in more colors...they look just like the picture and the quality is great. I've received a lot of compliments. These are a must have for anyone who think that they are a tad bit interested in them...take if from someone who usually don't leave comments but had to this time.

These shoes are a throwback to my Colorado roots! So comfy but a nice looking shoe perfect for fall! Love love!

Cool, classic style. I went with the advice of other reviewers and ordered a half size down. Great fit, though they fit even better with thick socks because my feet are very narrow. The leather is soft, thick, and well-oiled, and starts to mold to your foot almost instantly. Note that only the heel area of the insole is padded. The rest of the insole is hard, yet not uncomfortable!

These are comfortable with a fairly room toe box. They have quiet soles. They are great casual shoes, well made, I expect them to last. I usually wear a 9½ or 10 (41), these are a 9½ and fit me well. They provide no arch support but there is enough room to add some inserts.

Love these shoes! Bought them decades ago in Boulder and wore them through the sole. Have had several since. Love how the leather conforms to your foot in no time. My only complaint is that the soles wear out before the uppers even start to and because the crepe sole can't be repaired or resoled the wonderful leather fit is wasted. I hate to toss good leather shoes.

I love them! I love the shoe's looks, comfort, style. They are so comfortable, I can't even feel the "ground". The size is perfect. Color is great, especially with jeans. A very nice shoe, well worth the money.

Cool relaxed urban look these desert trek give off... leather in the front will Crack but gives it a distressed look... must by a size down... nice overall look especially if you are tired of fashion fads! :-)

I bought these a few years ago, my shoe wardrobe would not be complete without them. I first saw these in the 70's and never bought them. Now that I'm older and wiser, I recognize quality.

I feel like Bob Dylan in these shoes and have received a lot of compliments. They are not as comfortable as I had thought a Clarks shoe would be (I'm a school teacher on my feet all day), but I'm still glad I bought them.

This shoe is great if you are standing still. It really hurts breaking them in on the top where the shoe creases. I am sure that they will be great once they are broken in really good. Maybe some mink oil will help. If I had known how painful the break-in would be...I probably would not have bought them.

Look great, hold up great, hurt just a bit - I really do love these shoes. They look great and are holding up great - even the leather still looks great after trekking around the city in them for about a month now. The only complaint from me is that, for some reason, the rather soft leather still hurts my toe box area when I take a step, even though I’ve worn them in. By the end of the day, my feet have loosened them up enough, but again the next morning, it's like I have to wear them in all over again throughout the day. I like them enough to keep wearing them.

Worn Out After 3,600 miles - I've worn a pair of these shoes for three years just about every day. I figure I have 3,600 miles on them and the sole of the right is worn out. I hate to get rid of them as they are my favorite pair. I'm wondering if I should treat myself to a new pair or send them to a shoe repair shop. The uppers still look like new thanks to monthly cleaning with saddle soap. What I would miss the most if I do get them repaired is that they would be gone for a couple of weeks.

These shoes require a break-in period. I purchased these shoes approximately one year ago. Since I wear them at least five days a week, I feel that I can give an adequate review. I've always been a fan of Born shoes but when Born stopped making the Vast, I decided to look elsewhere. I really prefer a lace-up shoe so I thought the Desert Trek would be perfect for me. Immediately I fell in love with the style of these shoes and was hopeful that they would be as comfortable as the Born Vast. When I received the shoe they appeared to be handmade (i.e. they weren't perfectly matched). I was fine with the slight difference in coloration and stitching. I must say my first week with these shoes was a bit rough. No, they are not instantly comfortable, they do require a break-in period. Initially the leather is a little on the hard side and I developed an irritation on the top of my foot where the shoe bends. Fortunately after a week they seemed fine and I really liked wearing the shoes...

Clarks desert trek - This is my favorite shoe there is. I'm on my third pair. However, I find that quality control is an issue for these shoes in spite of their high price. The pair I just recently got from Zappos had a large wad of glue stuck inside the toe area. It made it very uncomfortable for my big toe. By the time I realized what the problem was, I had already worn the shoes too much to return. I was able to get pliers and pull out most of the glue. Also the leather in that front panel is not as high a quality as the rest of the shoe. I've had similar problems with my other pairs of Desert Treks. Also I have found that the sizing is not consistent (though my current pair feels true to size).

walking man icon - I love the desert trek, but for those shopping, it should be noted that on the back of the shoe is a little walking-man icon thats difficult to see in the picture.

The shoe looks great, feels okay - I love the way the shoe looks; however, it's not real comfortable. Maybe the longer I wear it, it will become comfortable?

Desert Boots best for casual attire - I've been looking for a traditional desert boot for a long time. I finally found some at the outlet mall (Clark's) but they didn't have my size. I found them on line but a much higher price. I still wanted them, actually I bought in both colors, but it took a few trys to get the right size. Once I did, I was happy.
