I absolutely love this shoe. It was comfortable right out of the box. After several times of wear it has conformed to my foot, which has made these shoes by far my most comfortable yet. I am on my feet for at least 8 hours a day and these Clarks keep my feet happy. The quality of this shoe is excellent. I don't have one complaint and I receive so many compliments on the look of this Clark. Many people want to know where I got it. I originally ordered the size that I generally wear in tennis shoes and found that I needed a half size smaller, so that is something to take into consideration. I must say that I am one happy Clarks purchaser and a very satisfied Zappos customer! You can't beat Zappos customer service. They are the best!

MS has caused neuropathy in the bottoms of my feet. Both shoes work great to help me walk.
The Desert Treks were very tight to get on, thought it was a big mistake, but another reviewer said they would stretch, they did within minutes. I love them and am grateful for the reviews.
Neat looking, very comfortable, true to size and very sturdy.

Crepe soles--like walking on air!
I love the shoes and especially the crepe soles. However I do wish that the shoes were't so heavy.
I don't remember them being so heavy, when I was wearing them back in the 40's, and thru the years untill I couldn't find them anymore. I guess the weight is due to the soles. For a person my age and with a bad back I look for comfort (which your shoes have)looks and a cushion sole. Your product is above all of these standards. Now if you could just improve the weight, I would really be a happy camper.

I love my new Clarks. They are made of beautiful leather and are so very comfortable. I have barely taken them off since I received them. I love the look and the feel. One problem: Even though I've never had a problem with width size, infact all my shoes are medium, however, this particular pair was quite tight across the middle. I'm hoping they will stretch out a little. Other than that, a perfect shoe.

Longevity -
I've had these shoes since 1980. They've been hiked in, swum in, chewed on, washed in the machine, dried in the dryer, run over (I'm not kidding), thrown up on (not kidding about this either), and otherwise abused. And they look (and feel) nowhere near ready to go in the next yard sale. These guys are forever.

Bought this shoe because of all the recommendations and found that, if anything, it surpasses them. One of the finest shoes I've ever worn. Total comfort and a quality feeling. Get lots of compliments. The look is spectacular and tough as nails.

These will be your favorite shoes!
I bought my first pair of Trek's when I went to college in the 70's, my second pair before I got married in 1980, and my third pair in the 2000. I still have them all. The older pairs have been resoled twice. I can't part with them. They feel so good on your feet. I've worn them to work and to travel across Europe. I would tell everyone, this is the best pair of shoes to own.

I have thought about this shoe for quite some time. I had my first pr. 30 yrs. ago, and have missed having another pr. for the last 20 yrs. I would check shoe stores that sold Clarks, but never found the Trek That I remembered. I found them at your website (along with the Cumulus) in the beeswax leather. My elf shoes did exist for me again! They were comfortable the first day I wore them, and have gotten more so since then. They seem true to size and width for me. I remembered them as so great to wear and found that they still are.
The Treks were by far my favorite shoes when I was
19 and are once again my favorite at 50.

Comfort and Looks - these shoes have it all!
I have a pair of desert treks in brown suede. I bought them in England - everybody asks me where I got them and are disappointed you can't buy them locally. They are the most comfortable shoes I own! OK the crepe soles attract the dirt but then again they look just fine like that. I am going to buy a pair in leather - I figure they will be better for the winter. I sprayed mine with water repellant and I wear them in the snow. I live in Saskatchewan, Canada and believe me - we get lots of snow. I wont wear boots because they don't feel comfortable - my desert treks are my winter boots!

I ordered this shoe because it reminded me of the desert boots I had in high school back in the late 70's. I loved those shoes, but I'm disappointed they're not available in womens sizes. If they ever are, I'll be the first in line to order them. I was very excited to get the desert treks which are pretty close to the desert boot. I love the look of them, the feel of them, and I and everything about them. I will probably have to have them in another color before it's all said and done. They are great shoes. Very comfortable and I love the look.

I've gotten compliments on these from all different kinds of people - kids who are intrigued by the retro look as well as adults who remember them from the first time around. They are absolutely comfortable - lots of room in the front for your toes to lay flat, yet fits snug and perfect. The materials and craftsmanship is very high quality. The only downside is that the rubber crepe sole binds to dirt like crazy. It is impossible to clean; most likely you'll end up with a permanently black sole (which looks okay believe it or not).

You really do need a pair of these!
Just like the former review, I owned a brown pair in high school. They were my best pair of shoes EVER! I was thrilled to see them come back! Just got a black pair and was so excited when they arrived, fit, and were so very comfortable. I started calling friends to share my good news. When I called my dearest old friend and said "remember the shoes I loved in high school... the ones uglier than sin...?" She at once started describing them and how I wore them daily for at least three years. I'm in heaven! Many friends and my sister-in-law are all Imelda Marcos wanna-be's with their shoe collections. For me, this one pair is the "mother lode" of shoes! Thank you Zappos for the fair price and great shipping and service. When they go on sale, I'll buy the desert trek in other colors also.
Bottom Line: These are the best shoes I've ever owned -- and I feel blessed to find them and own them again! You won't be disappointed by these shoes. The crepe sole is lightweight, the leather soft and supple. If you want a quality pair of shoes -- THIS IS IT!

Best shoes ever!
I had a couple of pairs of Clarks Treks in highschool, and was delighted that Clarks has started making them again! 'Just bought a pair of new ones a month ago, and they are still comfortable beyond belief, cute, and well made! I love them, and would recommend these shoes to anyone who wants something different that looks great with a pair of jeans and feels great on!
