I ordered a 13 Wide. When the shoe arrived, it was so narrow that I could not get my foot into the shoe. It has been returned. I have worn Sperry 13 Wide in the past and they have been very comfortable. I suspect that you have changed your "last" and it is now too small for me. I did not see where you have an Extra Wide therefore by necessity you have lost a customer.

It gets dirty entirely too easy and the leather wrinkles and looks old after a week.

I've owned multiple pairs of A/Os, and decided to purchase a pair in Red, White and Blue. While they were great at first, they quickly fell apart. I've never had a problem with my pairs in the past, so maybe it was a lower-quality material that was used in this specific shoe color.
First, the insole (made of a canvas instead of leather) fell out. Then, the midsole leather that wraps around from the vamp to on-top of the sole quickly grew holes. These holes grew larger, and eventually hit the welt, causing the upper to separate from the sole. (See Pictures)
While I still love the Sperry's that I bought years ago and am still wearing, I'm concerned that the quality of craftsmanship has gone down based upon my recent purchase. I don't expect a shoe to last forever, but to only last for a summer of casual use is disappointing.
I am hoping mine were just an anomaly, but will think twice before deciding if I will ever buy another pair. I recommend to not buy a pair that has a canvas insole, and instead stick to the leather insoles.

I liked the look of these shoes, and they are quite comfortable, but within 3 days of my purchase the insole had torn. (inside the shoe, the part against the bottom of your foot) This makes the shoe much less comfortable, it's like having a wrinkle in your sock all the time.
I won't buy this pair again.

My husband has been wearing Top-Siders over 20 years and usually loves them. This particular shoe was way too narrow and had to be returned. I would recommend ordering a wider size when getting this style.

The style of the shoe looks great, its comfortable, and the leather is high quality. However, the "new" sock liner is of such poor quality, that I cannot recommend buying this shoe. Within a day, the sock liner started peeling back (unglued) and became irritating. While I wish this were just a defective pair, unfortunately it was not. After three pairs, each with the same problem, I have decided to change brands until the manufacturing process improves.

This shoe is extremely comfortable and fits well. However, the dye on the inside of the shoe gets all over one's socks (or feet, if barefooted). The dye was totally over the socks on first wearing. This happened even tho the shoes were totally dry. I cannot imagine how stained socks would be if caught walking in the rain! Will not wear them again until i can be sure the coloring (black) will run onto the socks.

I've been wearing top-siders for 35 years and the quality has always been consistently superior., The shoes I recently purchased (when compared to my last purchase which I still have) have less leather top material and are less sturdy. I assume there has been a change in your quality standards.

Cannot order Ameretto color in 9 extra wide. While the style and fit is fine, I would much prefer being able to get the shoe in Ameretto.

I was very disappointed in the quality of the pair I received. The leather was separating on one toe, there was a rubber cement type glue coming out of the side of the tongue on the other shoe, the left upper appearted to be sewn on crooked which placed the eyelet directly on my arch bone, it not only looked odd but was painful. I returned the shoes.

I bought them a few days ago, as soon as i wore them, the insoles started to peel.. Not the usual Sperry quality i expected. Perfect look and fit, but the quality sucks. Hopefully new insoles will fit them. Please fix this, i wasted 80 dollars. I love the brand, just the quality sucks.

The shoes look very nice, but I have gone through two pairs of these shoes only to return them within a month because the soles of the shoes fell out. I have been told this was a defect, but two of the same defect in a row makes me unsure.

I've owned these shoes less than one season. Recently, unbeknownst to me, the eyelets started to remove themselves from the shoes, but were still held in place by the shoelace. The sharp edges on the eyelets proceeded to cut my leg multiple times as I walked with them. It took me some time to figure out how my lower leg kept getting cut(who would suspect their own shoe?). Now I have to trash a perfectly good pair of shoes because of this shoddy defect. It's a shame, because other than this problem, these shoes look great and are very comfortable.

Appalled Sperry doesn't pay for returns, makes me responsible for tracking/shipping, and makes me wait for "one to two" billing cycles for credit. Buy at retail outlets only.

I have worn Sperry shoes for 20 years and I continue to seek the same style and quality to which I grew accustomed. Sperry started to cheapen up their shoes about 5 years ago.
I sent these shoes back because the inside is not finished and the sole liner is now a cheap thin material. Suede leather interior does not work well for shoes designed to be worn without socks. Those that have worn Sperry shoes for many years will know exactly what I'm talking about.
Nothing is better than a pair of Top-Siders that are broken in well. I have a pair of the new version of these shoes and I just cant break them in like earlier versions.
Sperry . . . Are you listening?

I bought the same size as the originals which finally wore out. The quality is no where near the same, and the fit is not the same, although I purchased the same size.
Had to return them, since they didn't fit, and don't look very good.

I've been wearing A/Os for years and have loved them. Decided to purchase another pair to add to my collection, and after only a month of wearing them they are falling apart. On both shoes the leather lining on the sole wasn't glued right and is falling off. On the right shoe the sole has come out completely. On the left shoe the rivet for the laces has popped out. This is all after wearing them for 20 or so days. I'm hoping i just got a defective pair, but when I contacted Sperry Top-Sider they offered no support. Disappointing.

I have worn Sperry Topsiders AO for years now. When I ordered a replacement pair, the XW width on the new pair was markedly narrower than the old pair. I held them sole-to-sole for comparison. I am disappointed that Sperry would change the width, but not the width designation. the advertising leads one to believe that AO means Authentic and Original. This is not true.

I have been only wearing these shoes for the last 4 years. Think I've had like 6 pairs so far and they all have been wonderful except this last pair I bought here.
The back part of the leather insole meets the front part of the insole in the middle of the shoe (not sure why not one piece)... Anyway, where the back part meets the front section there's a large bump on the right shoe. The bump is in both the left and right except the right shoe has a large annoying bump. I'm just going to try and get used to it but am disappointed this annoyance.
Otherwise great shoes and I expect I'll be wearing the classic brown for many many years to come... We sail and I love how I can get them wet and how fast they dry (even in cold weather)... I don't wear socks either and these fine shoes are nice and aerated keeping them stink free.

I just returned shoes listed as 9 1/2 W that were a full 1/4 inch narrower than previous pair purchased 5 years ago marked as the exact same style, size and width (measured on the widest part of the sole, not the top). This makes the shoe too narrow. My previous pair fits great - very comfortable. So, what happened? Did sizing standards change in the last five years, or are these shoes now being made around the world and there are no standard sizes, like a lot of other clothing these days? I guess I have to go with a wider shoe, but guess what? Sperry doesn't make this style in a wider size. Looks like another company is going to get my shopping dollars. Sorry, Sperry. It was so good for so long, now it's over.

every sock is ruined from the dye Sperry is applying to the leather....it constantly leaves stains that the wash just isn't able to get out completely
very disappointed, I won't buy Sperry again

I purchased the 9 Extra Wide's and they were not wide AT ALL. It was strange, they seemed wide at the widest part of the foot, but then got narrow, crushing my toes together. I was so bummed because the shoes look great. On the bright side, I sent back the shoes and got a confirmation that they recieved the shoes back in 4 days! Pretty cool.

The leather is very cheap and stiff. After many wearings and treatments with premium leather balms, the shoe just never conforms well to the foot. They are uncomfortable every time I wear them.

I've gone through a few pairs of these over the last 20 something years, always loved them. This last pair the quality was anything but good. Overall they feel cheap and like many other reviews here they broke in the same spot, where the sole attaches to the toe. I was going to buy a replacement pair figuring it was just a one off thing, but after seeing enough recent reviews I decided it'd be smarter to find a different brand.

I bought two pairs in the last two years and are falling apart. What happened to the shoes? I remember 30 years ago the last forever and you could walk from miles comfortably not comfortable anymore and the soles are cheap. The leather is cheap. The soles are thinner and softer, they look thick on the outside but inside if you peeled it back, it's thin. I found a pair of old ones the thrift store. Another pair I'm going back to a thrift store. 30 years ago everyone at my prep school. And love them ever since until the last couple years. What happened. I don't mind if they're made in China, but the specs have to be right. Did someone buy his company.? Don't take my word for it. Look at the ratings lately.
