Great, cute shoe. The Niro is a very cute shoe and very comfortable for everyday walking and shopping. There is not enough stability for exercise walking, but I think that is not the intent. It is comfortable out of the box. The Velcro allows some customization of the fit. The hook side of the Velcro is on the shoe vs. the strap so if you sit cross legged on the floor the Velcro snags in the carpet or snags your socks or stockings if you cross your legs at the ankle. This is the only real drawback.

Wide feet sisters beware! I have "Fred Flintstone" feet so I don't mind spending the cash for the comfort, but I got the raw end of the deal on this one. They look great, they are handmade, plus they make velcro look cool, but on my Egyptian excursion, I should not have had to pull out spare flip-flops. If you have wide feet, just be cautious is all.

I had to send them back. -- Too small - Zappos gets 6 stars for service -- They've been great. But I have a couple of pairs of these shoes (OK! I have 4 pairs) and the size is unreliable. The orange and the brown both were smaller than the marked size, while the black and the gray were true to size. I love these shoes and I have real foot problems.

Looks great! I decided to buy this pair of shoes because I read so many reviews stating that these have "excellent arch support". I stand and walk a lot in my job and I need shoes have great arch support and is comfortable. The truth is: this pair only has moderate arch support. I have to use orthotic inserts to improve the arch support. Nevertheless, this shoe looks great. In my opinion, shoes have the best arch support are Dansko. I have 7 or 8 pairs and I probably will buy even more of them.

Functional with charming whimsy- I walk to work and walk home again- a five-mile round trip- and am a longstanding Mephisto fan. I am always interested in shoes that can cover the miles, are comfortable and supportive to wear, and that don't look any more unfashionable than they have to look. The Niros are comfortable and very functional "light hiking" shoes- they take five miles a day easily. Their appearance is delightfully whimsical- "they rock," as one of my young women acquaintances said. Just two drawbacks: I don't think they will wear for a long time, and the support could be a little firmer. But that won't keep me from acquiring my third pair soon! The new fall colors are much more attractive to a woman in her prime than were the neon summer versions.

Worth the $ Got them to go on a long walking vacation, and they are lightweight, attractive and comfortable.

I usually wear an 8M or 81/2N, but this was the size available, and they were too big and too wide. I figured with my orthotics they would be fine. Sadly, they just weren't comfortable, and I really need a shoe I can wear all day, and can travel in (when that becomes a thing).

I tried this shoe in both an 8.5 and a 9. The shoe just seemed very long. Strap hit too close to ankle for me and left a rather large front area. I did like the look of the shoe, sporty, good sole. But, just too long for me.

I wear a 7M with no foot problems, but these cute, well-made shoes were both too wide and too high--there was a gap between the top of my feet, the sides of my feet, and the shoes. The length and heel width seemed true to size. The removable insole seemed cheap and shoddy--like it was made out of a piece of cardboard. So despite needing a good walking shoe for New York City next month, and liking the "looks" of the shoe itself, due to the odd sizing and the cheap insole, these are going back.

The back of the shoe is too high. Hits my ankle bones, even with a shoe insert. Unfortunately had to return.

I ordered a 40 wide when the recommendation was 39.5; once i slipped in my insoles (not included here), the shoe fit perfectly with a good pair of walking socks. The "wide" size seems to run a little large. Not much in the way of arch support without the insoles, but with them, this is a great walking shoe. A little too casual for a skirt, but really nice walking shoe.

Wow these are ugly shoes. Online they looked okay but I took them out of the box and couldn’t get over the ugly factor. The fit was comfortable though. I’d try other Mephisto brand shoes just not keeping these.

Size 11 that I ordered was both too short and too wide! Too bad because it seemed like a nice shoe.

I wanted these to work soooo badly, but just too wide and I have a very normal medium width foot.

I like these shoes a great deal but the open mess is too abrasive on my feet so I am forced to return them. I will reorder with another style in this line.

I have another pair of these shoes without the mesh and they couldn't be more comfortable. This shoe has mesh the mesh is scratchy. This shoe would require socks. I had to return them because of that.

These run HUGE! I usually wear a 40.5 and I had to buy a 39!

Really wanted to love these but way too roomy and wide. I ordered a half size down- the length was fine but overall too wide and poor arch support. These go back, sadly.

Compared to my previous Mephisto this pair is smaller, almost a 9.5 in size. It should not be sold as sz.10. Color is nice, but hesitate to order another pair.

This is a well made shoe, however I had to return it because there was not enough support. I have bad feet and really need a shoe with good support.

Over engineered, under executed. The open mesh on the sides squished down.

I always wear a medium width. These shoes were so wide that my feet didn't even touch either side of the shoe. Returning.

Like all Mephisto shoes, this Mary Jane is extremely comfortable and good for walking, as well as errands around town. Unfortunately, the shoe looks very clunky. It comes up higher on the top of your foot than other Mary Janes and it's got a somewhat "orthopedic" vibe.

Not impressed, I am sorry to say. I have flat feet and I need arch support. I don't want to wear ugly shoes, but most comfy shoes just aren't very fashionable. For $165.00, I was hoping that the price would be worth it, with foot comfort. I've been wearing these around the house for 3 hours. My feet hurt. Sadly, I'm sending these back. Maybe for people who don't suffer from fallen arches, these are great shoes. They just aren't comfy enough for my needs, those they're cute shoes!
