I am deeply and profoundly in love with my Frye Campus 14Ls, and I owe it all to Zappos, who worked with me until I got it right. Order a 1/2-size smaller than your normal size! Also, be warned. This is not a tuck-your-pants-in boot for me. Fine with me, because that's not how I roll.

These are beautifully classic. I love the look. I am looking forward to wearing them often. The more comfortable and loosened up they will be.

My Campus 14L are 10 years old. This is my second pair. My old pair still looks like new despite all the forestry work I put them through. The cushion supports must be something new Frye added, because my old pair didn't have them yet they were still comfortable. The Campus 14L are roomy in the toes. You can order a half size down if you want, but I don't recommend it. Why? Because I tried it and had to exchange for my normal size. My hiking, thermal and athletic socks wouldn't fit comfortably in there. And I could barely tuck in my skinny jeans, because the shaft circumference narrowed about 1/2 inch. If you have curvy calves like me or like to tuck in pants, order your usual size. If you have slender calves and want a tighter look with skirts, size down.

Great boots - even after 4 years of wear and tear. I own the saddle leather and they look just as good today as they did in the beginning. Super comfy, too! If there is anything I no longer love about the boot, it might be the crinkly looking lines that are present (possibly due to the "tanning" process?) - either way, still one of my go-to pairs of Fryes!

The Campus 14L boots are wonderful! The fit is perfect, a half size smaller than my regular size was great for me. The color is better in person and especially on my foot. Ordering and receiving the boots was very very smooth with no problems as usual. I will always order from Zappos; they are great to deal with.

This is the boot I've been looking for all my life. Goes with everything...dressed up or dressed down. I will say, it wasn't easy to get right. Zappos had to send 3 different pairs before I found the right boot fit and leather texture. Zappos was extremely helpful. They made the process easy! Not charging my card 3 different times. Excellent customer service. Love this boot and now I'm a Zappos customer for life!

I gave these boots 5 stars in all three categories, but they do have some issues. First, let me say that I absolutely LOVE them! I have worn them to work in at my new house and at our farm all day every single day since I received them in early Feb. and have not had my usual sore, tired feet yet. I ordered an 11 which is my normal size. They are longer than any other size 11 I've ever had. They are easy to pull on, but they are loose in the heel. Ideally, I would wear a narrow width, but that isn't available. I am wearing my custom orthotics to provide arch support and over-the-calf boot socks to keep them from being so loose and to protect my skin from the roughness of the shaft stitching. The leather is gorgeous. Some people have complained about the varying leather on different parts of the boot. There are variations, but I think that is from the type of leather used in these boots which gives them character. The blazer brown is darker than the picture, but it is still a pretty brown.

I too, had a pair of Frye boots in the late '70s. I loved them and wore them until my feet outgrew them. I bought these in Blazer Brown because the price was too tempting to pass up. The color is a beautiful rich dark brown. I read reviews and decided to order 8.5, my normal shoe size. I would not have wanted to order a half size smaller. I read that they will stretch. Now they are comfortable...snug at the top. I believe they will be very comfortable with more wear. Nice to wear an American made boot. The info on the tag attached to the boot states that there are 190 steps to make a benchcrafted pair of Frye boots. Yes, they are a quality product. I'm very happy with the purchase.

These are well made, classic, stylish boots, which I know I will wear for years to come. They look urbane and elegant in black worn with black tights or with narrow pants tucked into them. The mid-calf shaft shows some leg, in a nice way, when the boots are worn with a knee-length dress. The shaft is just wide enough to accommodate my athletic calves plus narrow pants. I experienced some chafing on the outsides of my little toes when the boots were new, since my feet are slightly wide in the toes. I have found that the boots are most comfortable when a pair of soft socks is worn with them, even layered over tights if I am wearing tights. The socks can be short and not show at all, or knee high and show over the tops of the boots. I love the way that the heel adds some height, but the slight platform styling means that there is none of the discomfort I associate with high heels.

I love my boots! They came in two days from Zappos and are beautiful. I would wear them everyday. They fit true to size and are a beautiful color. It's and investment in boots I will own a very long time.

I bought the 9 1/2 which is my normal size. My foot is narrow so I need a heavy sock to take up some of the room. These boots are classic and so much like a pair I had in the early 70's which laced up.

I'm over the moon! These Campus boots are exactly the way I remember them way back from 1977, when I got my first pair. Mmmm..That wonderful leather smell! I'm a true size 8.5, BUT I'm so glad I took the other reviewers' advice and sized down to an 8. They fit perfect with regular socks, with room for a thicker sock, if necessary. Don't worry about feeling some "slippage" in the heel. This is perfectly normal, and the boots will adjust to your feet quickly. The padding is great and there is flexibility, so you don't feel like you're walking on boards. Very comfortable! The heel height provides a good lift for strutting your stuff. Careful, though: The soles are a bit slippery, bit a few grinds on the sidewalk will do the trick. These are just all-around great boots that go with everything. I got them in Saddle, and can't wait to get Banana next! Remember, go a half-size down. Yay, Zappos--you did it again!

I finally did it. I got a pair of Frye Campus 14L in banana! The leather and workmanship is just as promised. I love the way the boots look, smell, feel, and even the sound their heel and sole make on the pavement as I walk. I agonized over sizing. I'm a solid size 9, but I ordered both 8.5 and 9. The 9 was nice but felt sloppy in the heel and ankle. The 8.5 fit like a glove. I wanted a looser fit rather than tighter, so there was lots of hand-wringing. I finally kept the 8.5 after my sister told me she had the same dilemma with another high-quality brand, and when she chose the larger size she was sorry because the leather stretched. I decided to bank on the smaller size stretching for a tiny bit more room. The heel does slip, just like Frye says it ought, but it isn't a bother at all. That is supposed to disappear after break-in. I think these will be absolutely perfect, and I have plans to romp all over God's green earth in them - in all seasons, mind you. I settled on the banana because I thought it most versatile - what does yellow not go with, really? Get yourself a pair! There are precious few items in a wardrobe that you can keep and call vintage while still wearing them 30 years later! (That was another selling point for me; people writing reviews in their Campus boots they were still wearing from the 70s!)

Best boot ever. I wear my Frye's from October to March every single day. No breaking in. Price per wear! I own a pair in brown and will be getting a pair in black this Christmas! Best investment in shoes/boots I have ever made! Enjoy!

Believe it or not I still have and still wear my Frye Campus boots from 1973 and they still look great! They have aged better than I have and have only required minor upkeep over the years and two resoles, two heels. I get compliments every time I wear my old hippie boots and the long ago boyfriend who originally introduced me to them cannot believe that I still have the first pair I bought when I was still with him. I also have two pairs that I have bought since then just in different colors. Go Frye!

This is a beautiful quality boot. I ordered my usual size 9.5 and it fit true to size. The leather is gorgeous and I so badly wanted to keep this boot but had to return because of bunion. These boots are also quite heavy which may be a consideration for some people. Zappos' customer service is the absolute best and unbeatable!

I have had these same boots for the last 35 years and am still wearing them! My boots are a chestnut brown with gold stitching on the shaft. I remember purchasing them in my sophomore year in high school, 1976 and I am still wearing them! Beautiful, timeless, classics!

I wanted these to work so very badly, but they are not for a slim narrow foot. I ordered a half size down as recommended, so the length was, ok but they were huge everywhere else. Frye quality is fantastic as usual. Frye shoes work great for me, just not their boots. Thanks Zappos for free shipping and returns!

I have really pronated (flat) feet and they have become wider after years of wearing Danskos and Earth shoes. I am a true 8 wide, but usually wear 8.5 (38 or 39 in Danskos). I bought these boots in 8.5 and they are perfect. I could fit an 8 barefoot or with tights, but I wanted to be able to wear them with wool socks for winter. The 8.5 is perfect and has a nice foot bed. The heel is nice and it didn't tip me forward like the Carmen side zip did. If they loosen over time, I will add an orthotic, but right now they fit great and feel great. I have about plenty of toe space and the instep is snug enough to keep my foot from slipping forward. These boots feel so nice! They are heavy, but slim. I have smallish calves and have no problem wearing these with skinny jeans, but you can comfortably wear boot cut over the top, which is really nice.

I bought a pair of these in 2007, when I started teaching. After wearing them nearly all the time fall through spring, they're still going. They're good for walking and being on your feet all day, they go with pants or skirts. Mine have been resoled and reheeled, but they still look great. They're spendy, but will last you forever.

Sizing: 1/2 too big. Craftsmanship: Made in the U.S.A.! Great quality footwear, but (unfortunately) not refined enough for my taste, I'll return.
