Maybe it was just that I wore Birkenstock’s for years but I have had a bit of a time adjusting to the somewhat flatter footbed. My sister swears by her Mephistos so I thought I would give it a try. I think I will adjust.

Everything about this sandal was great, except that it looked old fashioned on my foot. I had ordered the Taos Maximo at the same time, and found the fit and the look to be perfect. That said, the pale gray color of the Mephisto is really nice. I wish the style was more contemporary.

I have issues with my feet and have little luck finding sandals. Theses appeared similar to Birkenstocks and looked a bit more stylish. I loved the look and try as I did, I had to send them back. Not enought arch support for me. It is a really quality sandal and cute style so, if you don't have issues with your feet like I do I would highly recommend them.

These used to be my favorite but the ones I bought last time sometimes rub the foot to the point that I need to apply a band-aid. Given that the shoes aren't new that's unexpected and strange. Another problem is the black nubuck actually dye my feet! That's awkward. Yet another problem is that the sole acquires a dirty look very quickly, even though I am not doing anything out of the ordinary and my other shoes are fine. For these reasons, I am reluctant to buy these again although it is a pity because the style is fantastic and you can wear them to the beach as well as to the theater...

I brought the pair of sandal in color Grey, but I think the color is a litter different from the pic in saw in the internet.

I wanted to keep these but the arch support hits me in the wrong place and makes it uncomfortable for my flat feet.

Just a little stiff but I'm sure that will ease. Great style and look,

Having several other Mephisto shoes/sandals, I first ordered this and the black one in my usual size. However, those sandals had to be returned since my toes hit the top of the foot bed edge. Because I really liked the Black Cuba/Waxy style I reorder it in a larger size. Unfortunately, the ankle strap was especially stiff and aggravated a bone spur located in about that same area. Thus, this sandal also had to be returned.

The shoes felt very supportive. The sole is not very flexible. The patterned strap on the left shoe does not lay flat over my foot. I wanted to keep these, but feel for the price, I could expect better quality.

Disappointed that they were too small. I own many Mephisto shoes and always buy 8.5 But my toes overlapped on the rim of the sandal and it was painful when I walked. I had to return them

They have changed the last on this once great sandal. I compared this new one to my old Hannel and the new one is about 1/8+ " more narrow from the mid foot to the heel. Does not stay on as well as the old version either. My heel, which in not wide, could not sit comfortably in the sandal and was painful when standing. Big change--the sandal is already running small and I have already sized up--front too wide for me and too long in general for me to go to a size larger!! Thought I could purchase a few of these this year--too bad they changed the last! Big mistake. Had to return.

have several pairs of these and have worn them for many years. When I first received them I tried them on and they seemed fine. when I wore them in the house today (getting ready to wear them out I wanted to break them in a little) I found that they cut the width in the mid foot area and the arch is extremely painful! Maybe it is just this pair--surprised if they changed the cut of this sandal. Lost another favorite? I hope not--will try again--in the black maybe--later on.

The Mephisto Hannel sandal is very comfortable and supportive. The materials are soft and smooth. My problem with it is that the upper straps are too loose. They just fit on the tightest holes and because they're leather, they will stretch with wear and then the sandal will be too loose and floppy. Normally I would add more holes for the straps but these straps widen after the buckle and so can't be further tightened. For reference, I usually wear a 9.5 medium/wide and I got a 10 in these. They were definitely not too long or wide, just too loose.

Lovely to look and initially comfortable but Ouch! The fastener for buckle on left sandal digs into my foot when I walk. Different shape that fastener on right sandal. Sending back.

At the price paid, these sandals should be amazing... well, they just aren't... I'm keeping them cause I'm desperate for a sandal, but they are stiff, hard to get the right fit (I keep having to adjust the buckles) and I really don't like the silver buckles all that much. (I have black nubuck and the buckles should be black.. Oh well, its only money!

These are super comfortable out of the box and I like the look, but because there is no back strap, I can only wear them around the house or for very short walks. I once wore them for a college visit with my son and halfway through the day, I was exhausted with the effort of keeping them on my feet.

I have this shoe in Black Nubuck from a few years ago. This navy patent is wider than my black ones, and the leather was scratchy. Also, was not aware until they arrived that MEPHISTO printed their name on the outside clearly visible. Even if the shoe fit, I would not have kept them. I never advertise what brand I bought.

I purchased my Hannel's a year ago. I have plantar fasciitis - they really helped me with that, but they do make black marks on my floors. And have stretched some which causes me to twist my ankle. But I would buy another pair if they weren't so expensive.

I looked high and low for a stylish & supportive pair of casual sandals after being diagnosed with plantar fasciitis, and I finally found what I was looking for in Mephisto Hannels. When I slipped one on, it felt like a kid glove. They are so very comfortable! My only complaint is that the straps stretch out some with wear, and though I have a wide foot, I'm already at the tightest hole on both straps. I'll need to punch a new hole in the toe strap to help hold them to my feet better, but thankfully that's an easy fix. Overall, I love them, recommend them, and would buy them again.

These are my most comfortable sandles ever, even better than the B\'s I\'ve worn for years. They fit great and the comfort level is tops. I\'m only giving 4 stars because I\'m the sort of person who believes that nothing is perfect. I will buy these sandles again and at Zappos because Zappos is a terrific place to shop for shoes.

"Hannel" in nubuck leather are very comfortable. Do Not Buy them in the "hard" leather. They are not at all comfortable. Mephisto does not know how to tan leather to make it soft! The footbed, arch support are very comfortable and the heel cup keeps your foot in place. These are quite expensive and I prefer Naot Sandals - a little less expensive and very, very comfortable.

Good thing for bad feet - I was having lots of foot and ankle problems; tried this in a store and my physical therapist thought it was excellent. I wear it all the time as a house shoe; I'm not allowed to go barefoot at all. Only problem is that it stretched out fairly quickly and started slopping around, but once I tightened it, it was okay. I haven't worn it out of the house! But I bought another pair to wear out. It is wonderful because the suede insole doesn't bother my sensitive feet, and it has the orthotic built in. Great for people with foot problems.

Very comfortable and cute too - The foot bed is amazing and the straps are not bad--took me a couple days to get used to the upper strap, but overall extremely comfortable. Runs small, I think - I am an 8 and the 39 is perfect though they call it a 9.

I am a regular Mephisto fan and wearer. I liked that these shoes had a slightly higher wedge than Mephistos I have worn in the past. I actually was hoping that the Mephistos I had last year with the rhinestone buckles were available in this height. These are a bit "strappier" in style, but In terms of comfort, these shoes live up to expectations I have for Mephistos.
