I purchased three different model shoes and they are either too short or too wide. Sizing seems to be an ongoing issue thou the quality is excellent. I am a 10.5S or 11S, depending on the shoe mfgr and generally buy 10.5S but in this case I have to return all three of them and experiment with different sizes on each model. Don't let my sizing issues stop you, just be cautious.

I got these for my son. He needed a full size smaller than he usually wears. Also the inner lining started coming up. He crazy glued it down and that seems to have worked for now.

Top side leather is thin and flimsy, but the shoe fits very comfortably. Just hope it lasts over time.

I ordered these for my boyfriend, and I'm so glad he wasn't there to receive them when they came in the mail. I ordered a pair in Sahara, and they came with scratches, watermarks, and are much lighter than i have seen on other people. I love sperry's and so does he, so I'm definitely going to send back and hope that Sperry Top-Sider gets it right the second time.

this will be the 2nd time that i have to return this pair due to the size not being the same as the other 6 pairs that i have or sperry boat shoes.
No big deal to return but if you do through Sperry....you have to return them on your own dime. What company still has this policy??

eh, I'd recommend clarks but these are okay. They're comfortable, but not as much as everyone makes them out to be.

I have been a big fan of Sperry for a long time and I have to admit I was disappointed with my purchase. I have bearly worn the shoes for a week and the inside is already falling apart. Not the quality I expect coming from Sperry.

I have had over 6 pair of these shoes over the years. Since they started making them in China I have found the inner sole become unglued (poor glue) and they seem to wear out faster. I like the look and feel but the quality in not very good.

Got these and think they look great, but really disappointed in the leather sole. They were glued together very badly and from day one the leather started curling up under my foot to the point where I had to try to trim it out. This really isnt necessary if someone had put a bit more attention to detail when it comes to the details of the construction. Pretty disappointing in general. Every time you pull your foot out you begin to peel the leather away more.

I have owned many pairs of topsiders. But I was dissappointed to find that they have cheapened the quality. the inner sole only covers 1/2 of the shoe. I didn't notice this at first but after wearing them a couple of months the 1/2 size inner sole began to peel up and curl. This causes a blister to form on the foot.

Please know before you read that I spent over a dozen years in the men's shoe business, from the stock room to district manager. That being said, this is a perfectly serviceable FASHION boat shoe--despite the presence of a siped sole, the upper is far too pliable for the shoe to be of much good in a serious boating situation (and this isn't exactly the ideal color for working a deck). If you love the style and just HAVE to have it for weekends on the sloop, then consider the same shoe in the traditional brown--it has a much stiffer upper and will serve you far better in the long run.
This shoe is a good summer casual, light, well-constructed, and about as versatile as it gets -- shorts, jeans, cargoes, khakis, Dockers and a sports coat, this classic style goes equally well with all. I almost never wear socks (not even with dress boots), so the quality and construction of the inside of the shoe is as important--if not more so--than that of its outside. The shoe is unlined, so there is nothing synthetic in the upper portion of the lining to promote sweating--a big plus in the summer. The biggest black mark against this shoe is in the footbed. The sock liner APPEARS to be leather (I don't think it is, however), and underneath is a lightweight heel cup/arch support that would make you think you were purchasing a shoe with some comfort technology included in the design. You would be wrong. Spend 15 minutes walking around the house and you will feel that "arch" just fall away underneath your foot; continue walking and you just might start to feel your feet pronate (you'll know this is happening when you feel like you're walking on the inner edges of your feet). This makes the shoe unwearable for some, uncomfortable for others, and--for those blessed with great feet, who could tie on a couple of Brillo pads with piano wire, run a marathon, and dance the Merengue deep into the night, all without so much as a hint of a blister or corn--no problem for many. For me, 2 hours with minimal walking is about as long as I can go in these shoes. If only they didn't look so darn good!
A note--for anyone who has never owned a shoe in bone, ice, etc: these shoes have a tendency to yellow with age. Not a defect, it's part and parcel of the tanning process with these colors.
I'd also recommend:
Timberland, Sebago, Rockport

I got these for this past Christmas and could not wait to smooth out the inherent burrs or stickers that exist after manufacturing. They are great for wearing around the boat dock, on or near the water because the sole really grips wet surfaces. It is time for Sperry to finish the interior so feet with socks slide in easier. I have learned the hard way to not wear to Mall or Wal-Mart-my back will be killing me and a headache that won't go away. I began wearing Top-Siders, Bass loafers and Clark Walabee's since college in my casual time. The durability is there but comfort is lacking.

Second pair. Using same product number as first pair what I received was significantly bigger, wider and darker than first pair. Is it because men are getting fatter feet to accomodate their fatter waist lines? Tracking, mailing and delivery was excellent.

I thought I was getting a sort of canvas exterior material. I have bought 2 pairs in the last 25 years and this pair was different. I sent back 1 pair recently that was not what I thought I was getting and this pair wasn't either but I guess you don't offer it anymore. It's hard to to tell by the pictures on line and I always bought the other 2 pairs in person.

I am not sure if i recommend this product: I ordered the oatmeal color for my daughter. It was on her Christmas wishlist - she wanted the smallest men's size because oatmeal is not available as a women's shoe. Unfortunately the shoes that arrived were dark - certainly darker than the oatmeal product photo, almost as dark as the not-oatmeal women's Sperry topsiders she already has. She's trying to decide if she is going to keep them...

I have always been a Sperry fan over the last 35 years, since the 70s; even before they were cast to immortality when they came out in the Preppy Handbook of the 80s. Simply put, Top-Siders are the only shoes i know of, which look equally classy worn with pants or shorts. Living in a tropical country but frequently traveling abroad, they have been a constant, versatile companion and have never let me down.
My personal choice are two-tone Tops with brass eyelets. Class to the max! Next would be the deep blues with the white eyelets. Then the classic greens.
Further, for me, anything without Sperry squeegee soles are not boat shoes. That totally seamless pattern that only starts to open up and look/perform better with use, over time. In fact, everything about Sperry looks better and more personal over time.
... until the last pair i bought in San Francisco. These were exactly like the ones featured here (stock #: 0195412 and shoe inner markings also read A-4 CH08). After just 2 months both soles had wear holes right down the middle, letting water from the slightest puddle into my shoes.
Is this a new design or materials flaw? Did anyone mess around with my favorite squeegee recipe?? After a few more months, both insoles also came unglued. Sperry, quo vadis? Have you gone the way of today's assemblyline and shortcut manufacturers? I sure hope not.
Being 5,000 miles away from SFO i have resorted to getting cheap lousy soles masquerading as squeegees sewn onto my original Sperrys -- almost as unthinkable as the leopard pattern Tops i just saw on this site, now ( i mercifully leave exotic prints for rugs and stuff as in the photo). It really is a pity to throw my purty Sperrys away so i am making do for now.
The core of Sperry lies in its adherence to quality; something not commonly found especially in this day and age and something that should make Sperry even shine brighter than ever. Sperry forever... hopefully.

I have owned over a dozen pairs of the Amereto Topsider.
The last three pairs have had the sole delaminated from the upper. This is after a relatively short wear.

The problem with this shoe is the assumption that an XW equates to a 3E and a 4E. This shoe will probably break in to a comfortable shoe but right out of the box they were not comfortable on a 3E foot which is what you expect from this kind of shoe, especially since the same XW shoe also comes up when looking for a 4E. The shoe does look good though.

I've been buying these shoes for years, but they have changed. The leather color is now a lighter brown, and the soles are darker. They soles now sort of grey, whereas they used to be more like light brown. (I guess it's possible Zappos sent me the wrong color, but the box said Sahara.) The photos on here depict the old style, which I prefer. One way to tell the new style apart is that there is now a Sperry logo on the back of the shoe, whereas before there was no logo there.

Top-Sider Wearer Since 1982. Through the years quality has suffered. Using plastic parts, different rubber compounds, different sipping on sole, many other things that only someone who has worn them over the years can tell. The days when you got a "hand made" felt top-sider made in the USA are over.
Wish I would have stocked up way back when had I known that the product quality would start to suffer.
Still I will keep wearing them what can I say, just my thoughts.
