Great Shoe!!! This shoe looks and feels good. I originally ordered a 7.5 but had to send them back for a 7. I usually wear a 9 in women’s and 7.5 in men’s, but had to go down a half size for the perfect fit. I plan on ordering more in other colors. Also, before I bought the black ones I ordered them in white. When they arrived, the rubber sole wasn't as white as the canvas material, as shown in the picture. I recommend buying the darker colors.

These Shoes are HOT!!! I had a great experience with Zappos.com. They upgraded my order and I got my shoes the next day!!! These shoes are so hot and I had such a good experience that, I will be back.

Here's the deal with guys' sizes... Those of us who spend time and extra money to hunt these down are just so obviously too picky and vain to wear Chucks...I just think it's funny that's all. I had to say it. If this is your first pair-o-Jacks, you probably won't even like these at first...they feel kinda big and awkward and clean until you wear them for a few weeks. Then you will love them, and, the part we all love the most, you'll start noticing everyone noticing your sweet sneaks! Anyway, so you want to know what size to get right? Ok, if you're a girl, I guess I can't help you. But, if you're a dude and your true shoe size is 10, and you're going to wear your Jacks with no socks, then get a 10. If you are going to always wear socks and/or you have even moderately wide feet, a 10.5 is your size. The main rule to remember with these is always get your true shoe size or a half size larger...you don't want to go smaller at all. It also depends on how you like your shoes to fit. If you like your shoes to be a little snug then get your true size 10. But if you like just a bit of breathing room so you can spend all day on your feet or walk a lot and not have sore and blistery feet, then the 10.5 will be your size. I prefer the latter myself. Hopefully this will prevent many unhappy returns!

The first, but not the last, pair - I was thinking of getting these in either the green/white or oatmeal/parchment, both of which look quite handsome. Then I happened across a picture of James Dean wearing white ones, so I decided the white ones must be the color to get this shoe in, just like black high tops with white rubber and laces is the color to get Chucks in. I was not sure which size to order because some people wrote here that they had to go a half size down and others wrote that they had to go a half size up. On the Converse website, though, it says to order your normal size for these and a half size smaller for Chucks. Well, my Chucks are an 11 so I got the 11.5 in these. Both pairs fit perfectly. These don't have that narrow feeling that the Chucks do though, and unlike the Chucks, they never squeak when I walk. Both are awesome shoes, however. The only problem is everyone is wearing the Chucks these days. The Chucks were only supposed to be for really, really cool people. I used to think you weren't allowed to buy them if you weren't the coolest person who came into the store all day. These Jack Purcells though, are an awesome alternative because they are still a classic but not as mainstream as the Chucks. The Jack Purcells are comfortable and especially great if you think James Dean was cool. P.S. I ordered these on a Sunday and had them Tuesday morning! Thanks Zappos!

Classic good looks - This Converse Jack Purcell sneaker is the most timeless and classic of "tennies". They look great as a preppy look with any kind of pants or shorts. Think clean and fresh. They are not the most padded but they are improved from their predecessors.

Great shoes - I'm used to wearing New Balance running shoes. These are comfortable, fit perfectly (I bought my actual size, not smaller/bigger), but I just don't see me being able to wear them for any kind of long walking trip or where I expect to be on my feet for a long time (even with the added padding). I've gotten a lot of compliments on them and they're otherwise very comfortable.

Great shoe - This shoe looks great, fits great and is very comfortable. I bought 2 pairs in different colors and would buy more. As usual, the Zappos service was quick and hassle-free.

The Classic - Relatively good comfort for an old-school canvas sneaker, more support than the Chucks provide. You need to buy a half-size larger than your normal shoe size.

Classic Shoe with Upgrades - This JP has been upgraded from my previous pairs. It now has more cushion all around and the laces have metal tips on the ends. Other than that, the same JP I had as a kid. Fit and fell are actually a lot better. Hope this helps.

Cons - Like regular Cons, but a little classier. They feel a bit sturdier and look a little nicer constructed. The different toes took getting used to, but now I like them. The laces are really cool, too. I did get a blister after walking 10 miles in them on my first day, but that's to be expected with any new shoe. I was a 13 in regular Cons and a 13 in the JPs fit me perfectly.

A good alternative to the overwhelming amount of Chuck Taylors out there now. This sneaker is the better retro throwback.

Great Shoes! I recently purchased my first pair of Jack Purcells. My girlfriend suggested that I purchase them, insisting that they would be great shoes. She was right. Everything about them is just perfect! I would highly suggest purchasing them if you're interested. Lastly, I'd have to say that Zappos.com is the greatest place to buy them. They were absolutely amazing!

An Old Favorite! I used to wear Jack Purcells when I was in high school, so I decided to give them a try again since I needed some regular shoes. I am in college now, and the moment I put them on I loved them! They were super comfortable right off the bat, and the only thing I had to deal with was a little rubbing at the heel when I was breaking them in. I love it because you can wear them with a mini skirt and they don't look clunky and awkward, and of course they're awesome with jeans. I highly recommend these shoes as a great looking casual shoe.

Great sneaker for girls, boys and women - These have to be the cutest looking sneakers on a woman and I see why so many people love this shoe. To me they are a very feminine looking sneaker and just not what looks that good on a man’s feet even though they market it as a unisex sneaker. I wear a Men’s 10-1/2-shoe size (=Women’s size 12) and the JPs look like boats on my feet even after going down a half size. If you have a small foot, they do look terrific and are a must buy. I wish all women would wear this sneaker particularly ones with average to small size feet. They remind me of the Pro-Keds canvas sneakers so many girls wore in the 70s and early 80s and looked very stylish back then.

Stylish , classic sneaker - Really good sneaker made famous by James Dean. Great value and very versatile with my wardrobe, unlike those overpriced, fancy futuristic Nike's. Only shortcoming is there is not much support in the footbed or arch. I compensated by buying insoles. Shoe fit fairly true to size but like other classic Converse I own, it fits tight around the toes.

Style Has Never Changed - I love my JPs, the fit and overall comfort is unchanged from a pair that I still have from the early 80s.

Nick's shoes - These shoes were a very specific, highly detailed request for a Christmas gift from my son. This is at least his second - maybe third - pair and he has an obvious penchant for them. He's not 12 - rather, he's in law school and likes everything about them. I like them because your company made it easy for me to find them and they arrived right on time. Plus the sales guy on the phone was really nice...

Jack Purcells - Great shoe! I bought these because I was looking for a simple, comfortable, stylish shoe, and I can say it fits the bill over any other shoe. For me, the shoe fit true to size, and although there is little padding (hey its ultimately a Converse, what do you expect?) it is no doubt the best casual shoe I have ever owned. I'd recommend it to anybody.

Love the shoes - My sons both have had these shoes and loved them. They asked for another pair this year for Christmas. They are hard to find in my area, and Zappos was recommended....Love the entire experience with Zappos, and the boys love the shoes.

Fantastic shoe! Goes with everything - I wore these years ago and am so glad I decided to wear them again.

Perfect gift for dad.... My dad has been wearing these shoes since he was in high school back in the 60s. I think it's the only sneakers I have ever seen him in. He wears them until they fall apart and they last a long time. He has many colors and is always pleased with them.

Reminds me up my High School days!! I can't tell you how fun these shoes have been for me... I get a kick out of just looking at them.. plus they are comfortable and I get loads of comments on them.. thanks

What a classic shoe. I wore it everyday last year and even when I put them on, my feet still feel so happy. It's so simple and it goes with so many things. This would probably have to be my favorite shoe. I would order a full size lower than normal though.

A look from 1963 - This is a great looking shoe; that feels good too. I wanted a pair of Purcell's when I was in high school. But I went on to Vietnam, college, and a career, where Jack Purcell was forgotten. Now retired, I started thinking about the blessings in my life and thought that a pair of Jack Purcell tennis shoes was the only thing missing. I searched the net and found my dream shoe at Zappos. My life is now complete and I'll enjoy the next few decades in my cool shoes.
