I just returned from a 3 week hiking trip in the Bernese Alps in Switzerland. I wore these boots every day, and was extremely pleased with their performance. Solid platform and very comfortable. Did not use a piece of tape the entire 3 weeks. The roomy toe box is a great feature. I was actually looking for non-GTX boots, on the theory that waterproof membranes cause heat build up that results in blisters and other problems. Although these boots where GTX I didn't have any problem with hot feet, though maybe that was the Swiss climate, as opposed to the high deserts of Utah where I spend most of my hiking time. Other sites have mentioned a problem with a crack developing in the soles. I haven't seen any sign of that in the pair I have.

Fit great, comfortable. I hike miles and this is my second pair - one for home and one to keep in my car.

I am a medic in the 4th Infantry Division. And I am loving these in Afghanistan. I have had them for 4 months and they are still in great shape. I am in my boots 18 hours a day. Feet feel great!

I normally wear a 4E shoe, but thought I'd try these boots. I wasn't disappointed. They are wide enough and were comfortable from the moment I put them on. The laces aren't real paracord, and mine had the outside sleeve shear off after only a few weeks. Overall, an excellent and comfortable boot. Especially if you have a wide foot. I bought another pair just in case the people at Vasque lose their minds and stop making them.

Slippery on tile. I'm from the PNW and love me a good water resistant hiking shoe. I loved how this shoe cradled my feet, hiking, walking, just being around the town was a joy to my feet. That being said, these boots, for whatever reason can be very slippery on closed poor type of surfaces, like linoleum, tile etc when they are wet. I figured that early after nearly doing the splits and learned to walk slow when it was rainy outside, and coming inside to a place that had slippery floors. Plus side is they can be nice and obnoxiously squeaky in places like Target.

So far these are pretty good. It's a true hiker with a lot of support. The boot is stiff and needs a break in, but after that I think I will have these boots for awhile. They look and feel to be made for the long haul. They were made in china, so I was a bit skeptical at first for the price of the boots. I was surprised to see right on the box that Vasque is part of the red wing boot company. I didn't see any mention of that when looking at the write ups. There have been no serious trail hikes yet but a lot of snow and slushie parking lots. They have good, confident traction. Depending on the make, I usually wear a 14/15 . These here fit great out of the box in a 13 ee.

I love this boot. It was comfortable from the first wearing and felt like a stiff sneaker. The only thing that I am disappointed with is the traction on wet surfaces. It's dangerous! While fording streams in Colombia I fell three times with my feet merely slipping out from underneath me. The color is also too light for my taste.

These are fairly heavy boots that are probably best for backpacking, although I have run up trails of scree in Arizona while wearing them, and didn't notice the rocks at all. They're murder for heat when the sun is on them, and my knees don't appreciate the heavy weight unless I'm carrying a pack. These aren't criticisms of the boots, though, just a note that their intended use should be more serious load-bearing. The waterproofing is excellent. My criticism is that after about 150 miles in them the rubber on the sole started to crack. I've admittedly hiked on some rough rocks, but then again I've put worn-out pairs of Asics 2010's through the same ordeal and they've held up better. Fortunately, superglue has taken care of the problem for now, but we'll see in the future.

Great fit out of the box. I have had them for two years know. First used them as weekend boots and know as an every day boot for ranch work and weekend hikes. I have used them every day for the past six months and found the soul break apart. I had them sown and am getting more miles out of them since they are the most comfortable boot I own. They are very comfortable for miles but not durable.

Very disappointed in the construction of these boots. They are indeed very comfortable and supportive right out of the box, I will give them that. Of course no fit is perfect for all feet, but these were pretty close for me. Unfortunately, the right boot developed a significant crack in the sole across the ball of my foot despite having put relatively low mileage on them. (I've had them for two years, but only wear them for multi-day hikes). I contacted Vasque and was told they only warranty their boots for one year, despite the fact that this seems to be a known problem. I've looked at reviews on other sites and this type of sole failure is a fairly frequent complaint.

I purchased my boots 2.5 yrs ago and found the fit and comfort to be what I expected from a premium priced boot. In the second season hiking Glacier NP the right sole began separating so I used a shoe glue to reattach the sole with reasonable success. This Spring hiking in the South West US I noticed that there are deep cracks on both boots below the ball of the foot.
I might still purchase another pair as I liked the fit and comfort but after many years of hiking/backpacking, this is the first pair of boots with Vibrum soles that I feel have worn prematurely.

I've purchased two pairs of these boots. The soles of each boot are now split across the ball of the foot where the boot flexes the most. The first pair lasted 3 years before the splitting occurred, the second pair failed after 18 months of light use. These boots are very comfortable and the uppers of all 4 boots are still in excellent condition. Buy these boots if you are willing to consider them disposable.
