Without a doubt, the most comfortable boat shoes I've ever owned! I've owned many since my school days, mostly Sperry but these provide excellent fit, traction and comfort.

These are great shoes! The fit and look are both great! Zappos had them at my door in three days! I would order from Zappos again in a heartbeat!

I am not going to comment on how comfortable these shoes are since I never wore them myself. They are probably very comfortable since they look like dad shoes, and dads need comfortable shoes for long days at work and dealing with high strung children. If you are not a father/grandfather or even an uncle, I do not think you should buy these shoes because they will give people the wrong impression.

Excellent shoes. Meet the expectations and was delivered on time in very good condition. I would recomment anyone who would like to buy them.

I have been wearing Docksides since the 1970s and I am never disappointed when I get a new pair.

I bought these for my son in two colors, brown and blue, thinking he'd want to return one pair. Well, wasn't I surprised that he loves both colors (he's 16 yo and I usually never get it 'right, haha). So we are keeping both colors because he loves the style, the fit, and the comfort. What more can you ask for?

1987 called and wants its shoes back. These are sweet, just like I remember. Out of the box they are a bit stiff and creaky but after a couple of hours of wear they feel like they are starting to mold to my feet. They will be nice when broken in (I expect five star comfort). Arch support similar to Vans. There is very little to none. I plan to wear them to an outdoor wedding in the Los Angeles heat this weekend. Zappos service was great as usual. I am a satisfied customer. Thanks.

As always, dealing with Zappos is something to enjoy. Once you order, your shoes are delivered almost instantly. Any problems, they are fixed, instantly. Need to talk to a live person, it is done, instantly! There is no better online merchant of any kind! Once you use them you will never change.

After nearly six years, my Sperry AOs are now retired for all but the dirtiest chores and needed replacement. The Sebago Docksides are the superior shoes. Little touches like skiving on the tongue and a more structured back stay may go unnoticed by most, but it gives the shoe a higher quality feel. One machine-sewn seam on the collar was a little crooked, but a minor complaint for an imported shoe at this price point. The hand stitching is faultless. The brown elk leather is sturdier-- thus stiffer, so break-in will take a little longer, more like breaking in a dress shoe than a sneaker. I would recommend wearing these with socks a half-dozen times before trying to go sockless. I wore them without socks the second day, and the stiff collar of the shoe caused a blister on the outside of my ankle. I expect these to last a long time. A good shoe at a fair price, even better if you catch them on sale! Very pleased with this purchase.

Much better quality than Sperry if you're looking for durable, resilient leather for the same price. Much has been said of how Docksides are uncomfortable and need some breaking in. I found that with the correct size for my foot (half size smaller than Sperry Top-Siders), there is little slippage and the shoes are fairly comfortable, barefoot, from the start. They will need some breaking in, though, and I wouldn't go on a hike in them right off the bat. A friend commented that the new leather looked a little "plasticky," but it looks sharp to me and seem like they will resist stretching and water for some time to come.

This was my second purchase with Zappos, and this time I received the surprise free overnight shipping upgrade. I had done quite a bit of research before buying these shoes. The shoes are made from sturdy leather which is a few steps above the similarly priced Topsiders. They will take about a week to break in past the point of blistering if you are wearing them sock-less. In hindsight, I probably should have bought the slightly more expensive Horween Leather edition as the leather is seems to be of significantly higher quality and more supple. I must have spent around a lot in Bandaids and blister defense which, if added to the cost of the shoe, makes the Horween Leather edition only a little more. Still, great looking shoe which should last me more than just one summer (the approximate lifetime of the entry-level topsiders). I'll give the shoe 4 stars because it is well made with pretty good leather, and looks great. Zappos once again delivered stellar customer service. The upgrade to overnight shipping (basic shipping is already free - most online retailers don't even do that) was icing on the cake. Zappos has set the bar for online shopping.

Shoes seemed a bit more red when I received them than on the pictures, so I didn't like them at first because of that reason but they soon grew on me and now I like how they look.

Great shoe. Fits true to size and appears to be of very high quality. Been wearing these, both domestic and foreign made for decades.

I bought these shoes because of my previous experiences with the comfort of Sebago boat shoes. Every pair I owned was soft and easy to wear from day one. These are the most uncomfortable shoes I have ever owned. I tried 'breaking them in' by wearing them around the house for a few minutes at a time - that didn't work. I have blisters after wearing them for just a few hours. They are now in a clothing donation bin. Really they should be rated 'No Stars' for comfort, but that wasn't a choice.

I should have realized when I saw how thin the soles were and how little padding existed in the shoe itself that these boat shoes would not be comfortable for me. Once I decided to keep these shoe and wear them on a regular basis (not every day), I found they do not provide adequate comfort for any type of use. I tried 2 different Dr. Schools inserts, without any help. I developed a sore spot on the front pad of my foot behind my smallest toes on one foot. I have not worn these shoes for over a month now and I still have the sore spot. My advice - if you're looking for comfort and need any sort of extra support - don't buy these shoes! I still can't wear them for even brief use as a slipper. I've owned a pair of Columbia boat shoes for years which are very comfortable, just could not find these on ZAPPOS in black.
