I wanted to love this backpack but there's a design flaw: the pockets squish so you don't get the available space to put stuff. I mainly use it to carry my laptop, files and office forms. It feels bulky. I'm short: 5 feet 2 so although it's comfortable I wish the pockets could hold more.

Overall this is a great backpack. The back panel is sturdy and the padding is great against your back. It also gives the backpack structure and protects your laptop well. The main compartment is quite roomy. However if you put something in the outer most pocket its presses into it and takes some room away. The organizer compartment has lots of storage and is very convenient. The mesh side pockets are tall and can fit your 40 oz hydroflasks too. The backpack is good quality and beautiful colors

I use this bag for school. I had this bag for years and just replaced it for a new one. Worth every penny. Spacious and durable! Fits my laptop perfectly and leaves plenty of space for books. Has plenty of compartments for other little necessary things.

I had my first Recon backpack for 9 years and did lots of traveling and carrying of heavy textbooks with it. I only needed to replace it because I accidentally broke the strap by slamming the buckle in a car door (oops).
This updated Recon looks very professional and stylish. I love the silver reflective design and the laptop pocket in the back.

I bought this bag to replace the one I was using for school and it hasn't disappointed one bit. The layout of the compartments in this pack offer individuals high organizational capabilities. I thoroughly enjoy the FlexVent system that keeps the pack from digging into my lower back, something that my last bag would give me problems with when my laptop or a book would shift wrong.

Not to many outside pockets makes in secure and sleek for the city. But still so much room. Great for overnight trips, day hikes and travel/commuting.

This backpack has a dual purpose: It carries my laptop and books for classes and while hiking it's orange color makes me visible in the woods so an arrow or bullet doesn't come my way!
The North Face Recon Orange backpack helps keep my me alive & safe plus my formal education is functional and efficient when I carry one carrying case. Beautiful ...

I travel a lot with one International carry on and need a backpack that can accommodate all my extra items. My list: Camera in bag, 10.5"iPad Air, extra shoes, make up bag, chargers, 2 pair of glasses in. cases, small moleskin note book, misc small items, travel pharmacy (think quart size bag), Bose head phones, and small cross body purse and an 18 oz hydroflask. ALL of that needs to fit in a back pack...I know I'm asking a lot but hey, that's what I need. I ordered 17 backpacks and test packed all of them. This was a loser! I ended up buying the Victornox Sport Pilot because everything fit comfortably with a little room to spare!

Looking for a multifaceted backpack for travel, photography & airline carry on, that also provides an acceptable level of comfort & ease of use. This backpack has met all of my expectations & more. Lot's of useful compartments, laptop protection & enough room for my mirrorless camera system.

This backpack is used by my granddaughter who's in 8th grade. She chose this style and is pleased with it. I'm pleased with the sturdiness.

I am a big fan of North Face backpack. I bought a Jester during my family's vacation in Florida. My son took it for his college. So, I decided to get another one for me. I ordered a borales but my wife like the black and yellow when the backpack arrived. At the same, the design of boreal is not much different from the jester. So, I decided to get this one, recon. This time I bought the classic black. I am very satisfied the design. However, I found a little issue with the laptop compartment. The zippers doesn't go all the way. It stops halfway. That's my only issue.

This is my second RECON backpack and the last was with me for 10 years. The new generation blows every other backpack out of the water. I'm a first responder and I'm also very active this product has such a premium feel and such a purposeful built item that I can easily see my self with it for another 10 years. Thanks again to my family for this gift. I'm beyond happy of how comfortable, lightweight, durable, and usable this backpack is. Great job to everyone who was involved with this product development. The North Face loves on and proudly to.

I am very skeptical about buying packs online however this pack came as advertised. Great design, very comfortable for the commute to and from school. The only thing I don't like about the pack is that there are too many straps to tie down. I don't like dangling and swinging straps that can get caught on things; a little time with a roll of electrical tape fixed the problem.
