Use this everyday, it fits my lunch, three water bottles, gym outfit, books, and gym shoes in it with room to spare. Has many very useful pockets and little accessories.

I use this book bag for school and traveling. I have so much space to put anything and everything in the bag. With high quality material inside and out this bag gives you so many opportunities to do whatever you want with it.

I love almost everything about this back pack - it's big enough for a laptop and several books, it's waterproof, the outside, lined pocket is great for my phone, the color's pretty but not flashy, etc. I only have two complaints. The first is that the shoulder straps rub my arms when I walk. I've only worn this with short sleeves so far and think it won't be as much of a problem in the fall and winter. The other complaint is that the laptop sleeve doesn't have any way of closing. I've noticed that sometimes my laptop ends up bouncing back and forth when I walk. Otherwise, I love it!

Straps are extremely comfortable and there is plenty of space in the pockets and there are great organizers. The laptop sleeve won't hold a laptop much larger than 15" but that is how its advertised. Love that it also has a tablet protection sleeve.

One of the best presents my boyfriend has ever given me! I have back problems (two vertebrae squashing the disc in-between them) and this backpack is amazing! When I've filled it up and go to put it on my back, it feels heavy, but the moment I put my arm through the other strap and settle it on my back, it feels like 1/16th of the weight! It's incredible! My back doesn't hurt with this backpack like it does with the rest! And the straps that go across your chest and stomach make it even better! Plus, anything you slide into that inside pocket in the large compartment (laptop, like it was intended for, or notebook) doesn't jam into your back/poke you while you walk! Love all of the pockets - they cut down on my "looking for something" time by half! It really is an all-around great backpack, but I have to say that what sold me on it was what it has done for my back. I haven't taken it hiking yet, although I will, but for school and overnight trips as well as travel, it has done amazingly!

I love the color, padding and the volume of things I can put into it easily! I don't like how the zippers are sometimes hard to get to but other wise I can't wait to use it more!

This bag has somehow survived more than seven years of what surely counts as backpack abuse, and with zero damage to function. I've mainly used it for school, where I'm usually carrying several notebooks and binders, a textbook or two, a 13in Macbook, a few smaller books, some snacks, and a large pencil pouch (at least). It also took me on a three day trip up and down a mountain and countless out-of-town adventures. When I packed lightly, this bag could easily hold everything I needed for a week long leisure trip. The only reason I'm buying a new one is because my 100lb rescue dog chewed the front buckle off one day when he was left home alone and anxious, and it wasn't really something that could be repaired. The pocket itself is fine, and everything else about the bag still works perfectly, so it's totally a petty thing. Also I figure if the old one's made it through all this, I might as well give it a rest. I cycle regularly, and love the features this newer design offers to hold bike lights, helmets, and locks, and love the way TNF packs can be customized so much for comfort. It means a lot when you're sitting in a weird position on a bike. (I am a woman, and bought basically this same one when I got my first one, and it has fit wonderfully, despite not being tailored to more feminine proportions.) Plus, I'm messy, and this bag keeps me as organized as I'll ever be (without being overwhelming or absurd about it). My only complaint is that two of the zipper pulls broke off a couple years ago, but it looks like they've changed the design now, so it shouldn't be a problem.

This backpack looked great online and even better in person. I needed a better backpack to replace my old worn-out beat-up Jansport backpack and I am so glad that I chose this Recon bag from Northface. It's incredibly well padded so it feels great resting on your shoulders and back. It's also very lightweight, contrary to my first assumptions about it. Its material quality is second to none, no zipper snagging, no tears from long time use(that I can forsee at least), and its padding is incredibly soft and cushioned to protect your more susceptible belongings as well. To sum up shortly, super stylish, sleek, comfortable, less prone to soaking in water, nice feel and a lot of compartments for whatever your needs.

This backpack is so comfortable. I bought it to use for travel and for work. I can fit a lot of items inside, including my 17" MacBook Pro, so that's great! Doesn't feel heavy at all

I'm a medical student, and as such I need a backpack that can carry a laptop, tablet, books, notebooks, etc. The recon is perfect for that. However, I've found that the new Recon isn't as comfortable as the previous version. In all fairness, I have a small frame and most backpacks make my back hurt, but I was rather disappointed that my old version was better. All in all, great backpack, love the cinch straps. Cute colors, too. Would recommend.

Super satisfied! The quality you expect from North Face and it's great for school. As a college student, I have to haul my laptop all over campus but its so much easier with this bag. Definitely recommend.

My daughter is in high school and carries way to many books (in my opinion) and this backpack covers it!!! It's not easy finding a large enough backpack that's also so sturdy! She LOVES the color and is, believe it or not, excited to use it! Thank you!

The Recon is the perfect size for a basic weekend trip to visit friends. I was able to fit everything necessary for a minimal activity weekend. The bag feels very light. The chest and waist strap help reduce the strain from the load. I wish the pockets opened wider. The fabric on the straps is scratchy against bare skin.
