This was a nice backpack. However, I did return it because I did not think it would be large enough for me. However, I'm sure if would be sufficient for many other college students. I just know I will be carrying a very large amount of books and binders. It was very good quality though, very well made.. It is not that lightweight, but that's because it is made of durable material. Also, it has great padding.

I bought this backpack because I am heading off to college in August. So far, it has provided the space and comfort that I have needed for classes. If you tend to carry more things, I would recommend getting one of their larger backpacks. For my personal purposes, this backpack style is well suited. Both my sister and I have purchased this style backpack for college.

I love this backpack so much! It is very large and I like that it has a laptop sleeve to store my computer. The only con i would say is that the straps go up a little high which makes it a little more uncomfortable. But other than that it is great quality and perfect for school.

This product is great for college students who want a large capacity backpack to hold all of their books, their laptop, snacks, water, and anything else they need. The pockets in the backpack are a nice addition to keep students organized. I like to use them to hold my phone, wallet, keys, pencils/pens, and snacks. This bag also works great for day trips to a lake, a day fishing, for a hike, and so much more. I love this backpack and would recommend it to anyone looking for a bag with many uses.

I was looking for a durable backpack that would last me the rest of college and then able to use it for traveling after I finish college. It has plenty of space for everything I need and then some. Overall, very pleased with my purchase.

I got this to use for school because it was the biggest backpack I could find that was good quality.

This pack can be customized to fit you perfectly. Also, I love the compartmentalization in the front pocket, along with the stash pocket - it'll be easy to store a variety of small items in easy-to-access pouches. Aesthetically, this pack has a great streamlined look. The Pamplona Purple is gorgeous; it's a bit deeper in person, and less bold than it looks online. However, I'm VERY disappointed in the rigidity of the main compartment from the overly-robust laptop sleeve. Sure, that may be great when I want to schlep my devices around the city - but I bought this pack for day hiking and international travel, when I carry irregularly-shaped items that could benefit from some give and adaptability in the pack. I believe equivalent laptop protection could have been achieved with a fraction of the padding.

This is my 3rd Recon pack over about 17 years. The tablet pouch is handy but at the expense of moving the 'miscellaneous' pocket further down into the pack - a little less convenient. Nice to have both the outside and inside zipper pouches. The outside pouch is now padded, so good for a phone / glasses but a bit smaller. I find the inside sipper pouch - when loaded - makes it a bit difficult to fill the other pouches with phones, glasses, etc. Padding is also added to the laptop pouch, which is designed for a more snug fit than previously but doesn't really allow you to add magazines, etc unless you have a super thin laptop. All in all, still very handy for toting around school / work stuff. Only annoyance is the zippers get caught quite a bit so I spend more time closing the pack than necessary (airport security, overhead bin, grabbing glasses in the car, et al).

I had the old model for 4 years and loved it, but it was starting to rip and get warn down. I got this one and like it, but I don't like how the inside of the pockets are a fuzzy material. It is very hard to clean and since i keep pencils, food, and other supplies that can get dirty it is difficult to keep clean.

I am in College and with lecture notebooks, notes, school supplies, books, laptop, etc... This back pack honestly makes it so much easier to handle it all. My laptop even has its own pocket and it's made of very durable yet soft material so it won't scratch it up. When walking up hills rather than feeling I will fall back the back pack almost jumps with me and adds support around my lumbar area (being a girl makes it feel even more soothing when one has cramps). It has room for two water bottles on the side (I carry a 32oz bottle) and it fits snug and doesn't just stretch out, it retracts back to its original form. The pockets allow room for enough space and even has a tablet sleeve as well! They are also even prettier in person! If you're debating between this back pack or a cheaper one just get this one it's honestly durable and should last a very long time!

I've used this pack for light loads and travel. I bought it primarily for travel to Europe and am actually excited at the comfort I know I will feel throughout the travel experience. I have done some light traveling however, and the pack fits great and distributes weight evenly. Best pack I've had by far!!

Awesome backpack! I should have bought this years ago for my son, instead of listening to him and getting the other brands that just don't last as long, or are near as good in quality (but they charge near as much). My daughter has had her NorthFace Recon backpack for years, and even though it has seen a lot of use both with school and hiking trips, it still looks great and absolutely no tears or broken zippers! She even once used the whistle that's built into the strap clip in an emergency situation. Good job NorthFace on making great products that also have a lifetime guarantee!

The amount of space in this bag is great for a student! The padding provided in the bag for a laptop is great because I don't need to lug around a computer bag to protect my laptop. Also very adjustable!

Very sturdy, not too many straps, so it doesn't get caught up in things when you travel. Just the right amount pockets, so you know what is where.
