I have four pairs of this shoe in black and burgundy. The pros are that this shoe looks great, shines up great and is very comfortable. I wear the shoes with suits every day and with black and burgundy, I can pretty much cover the spectrum of suit colors. The cons are that the shoe wears far too quickly, even normal use wears the heels out rapidly. Additionally, the burgundy color is impossible to find a decent shine for, and if scuffed, shows a bright red color underneath that looks terrible. Lastly, that the shoes wear so quickly, J & M customer service took care of me and sent me a new pair of blacks to replace a set that wore quickly. Make sure to use cedar shoe trees and alternate regularly as that seems to help.

Break in period will be minimal.

Very nice shoe. Slightly uncomfortable in first uses, but once broken in, very comfortable.

Love to wearing it with grey trouces

Will use this product for special occasions.

Needed a pair of shoes for work and dress events that were comfortable and knew would last. Bought one in black and reddish brown and am very happy with the look and the feel. Would buy again.

The soul feels comfortable immediately. The top leather needs some breaking in. It's also difficult to put the shoe on and take it off the first few times.

Owned these Melton Cap Toe for about 2 months now. Did not need to be broken in to feel comfortable. They are a little ridged around the ankle but not uncomfortable. They are very light weight and comfortable to walk in. I own about 5 pairs of J&M shoes and these are probably my favorite (even over more expensive shoes). The toe cap polishes up to a nice shine. The soles are a little harder then most soles. I am a little concerned about the wear of the sole. After about 6 times wearing them, the toe portion of the sole has already worn down to the stitching. This would not discourage me from buying them again.

Simple classic style. Great for work or dress.

It was difficult to decide amongst the selection for men's shoes. At Johnston & Murphy, however, there is no wrong choice. Every pair of men's shoes are stylish, comfortable, and of great quality.

I believe it will be a great dress shoe once it is broken in.

I hope once the break in period is over, these shoes will become more comfortable.

As stated above, the leather should be comfortable. The shoe is very stiff and will take weeks to break-in. The leather soles are very supportive and good quality.

Bought these shoes to go with a new suit for a Vegas trip. These shoes definitely have a break in period (removed the skin off the tops of my big toes first night out wearing them). Having started wearing them a couple days to the office (Manhattan), they have gotten softer and more flexible after a couple weeks but there is room for improvement. I hope that this trend continues. They are very nice shoes that offer a lot of flexibility (wear with suits, slacks, chinos, etc). Overall they are very sharp and worth having. I have a bias for comfort as I wore primarily rubber bottom shoes with very thin but soft leather shells.

These tan/cognac shoes go well with blue and brown suits thereby adding to their versatility and value.

Classic look you can wear to work, travel to business meetings or a night out to a special place. Only down side is it takes a while to break in and they are a bit uncomfortable during this period. You will definitely know they are broken in and how comfortable they are.
